Hello,  I am a begginer in Regular expressions. I am trying to write a regex to print out a specific string in a sentence.  For example:  "We've found questions similar to yours" I would like to create a regex for the word "found" and "yours". whenever found is matched OR yours is matched print the word.  Basically i just need to know how the OR statement works in this case.  regex.match("found" OR "yours")  ??? Thank you -Klevis

I need a regex for the following sentence

I have a line of text which is as follows  : This should occur before variable1 = 1 variable2 =2 variable3=6 variable4=9   I want a regex which checks if this text (This should occur before ) comes before  the string of the variables (variable1, variable2, variable3, variable4 ) and also  should pass if the placement of the variables can occur anywhere in the sentence. Also the regex should pass only if the variable4 has a value greater than 9.

Strange time issue on simple select statement

Hi, I have a strange time out issue on a simple select statement.
This is my select statement:

Select * from DyGeJournal where ord>=4609635 and Fracsec>=31

The ord and Fracsec is the primary key.
When I ask for the actual excecution plan, he is using a an index seek.
It takes more than 1,5 minutes to get a result back.

When I shrink my database, everyting is running as expected, the query above runs in milliseconds.
After a while (2 weeks) it start agian running very slow.

I have the same logic on other tables, but I don't have the problem on those tables.
What can cause this problem?

How do I prevent the sentence-matching regex ([^.?!]+[.?!]) from matching .?! followed by quotes?

Hello All,

Is there a way of preventing this from matching  .?! that are inside of (followed by) quotations?

For example:

He tossed back his veil, and Gork looked into the features he had seen depicted on the silver coin. "Aye, dog!" The voice was like the hiss of a giant snake.

matches as this (each match on a line of its own):

He tossed back his veil, and Gork looked into the features he had seen depicted on the silver coin.
"Aye, dog!
" The voice was like the hiss of a giant snake.

I'd like it to match as:

He tossed back his veil, and Gork looked into the features he had seen depicted on the silver coin.
"Aye, dog!" The voice was like the hiss of a giant snake.

Simple select on client very slow, fast on server

We copied a database from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2 on a new server.

On the new server (24 cores, 24 gig memory) simple select statements from my client with SSMS that returns 10000 rows take about 50 seconds. The same query on the old server (1 core) takes less than 1 second. Directly on the new server the query runs very fast (also less than 1 second).

Execution Plans on both servers are exactly the same.

Client Statistics shows on the old machine under "Client processing time" 656 and on the new server 51018.

The same problem occurs on all other clients and with any other larger query/resultset.

It looks like a network issue. But the new server is located in the same datacenter and has a 1000Mbps network connection.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

AJAX GridView Checkbox Select All in ASP.Net

In the previous article GridView Select Multiple Rows you learnt the multiple row selection in GridView control. Here you will get the C# code sample to select all the gridview rows using single checkbox server control. You can highlight the selected rows with different color and Font state Bold. A Simple and Extensible Radio Button Style GridView

The GridView is one of the significant controls in ASP.NET 2.0 and later versions. No doubt it reduces a lot of work time. However, customizing the GridView control is not an easy task. For example, it's hard to add a radio button column to the GridView. This article demonstrates the reason why a radio button column cannot act as normal and how to create a simple and extensible radio button GridView.

Silverlight Simple Animation

Silverlight has several built in techniques for animating controls. Many of these technologies are particularly useful for creating simple animations meant to decorate a web page with eye catching movement that draws the reader's attention. In this post I will skip over these decorative technologies, and instead show how to create a simple animation using a technique similar to those used in many games.

I thought this would be simple... Trying to create a login does an ajax check before submit

I have the standard .net login control that is working.  (Still learning .net after 15yrs of classic)

What I want to do is OnButtonClick run a javascript function (to do an ajax call to the db to check if login is valid or not) and if it returns true, then submit the form normally, else don't submit. The piece that I can't figure out, is how to correctly override the default click even to hit my JS routine and then submit the form properly afterwards.

Thanks ahead of time

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?

Regex pattern for validating IPv6

Can anyone can make a regular expression pattern for validating IPv6 (not IPv4)?

Ipv6 has many formats and aliases. I tried making the pattern but written in a lot of codes (i'm not sure my code below will be 100% accepting valid formats and 100% declines invalid formats).
