Do not see the table in Database after moving the project folder

Hello,

I created a ASP.NET project under Visual Web Developer 2008. Under that project I had a Database (along with ASPNETDB.MDF) which has about 3/4 tables (I had SQL server 2008). Everything was working fine (like insert, delete, etc.). And I was able to view the tables in database explorer view.

Then I had to format my computer for some reason and I copied the whole project in a USB drive and then after formatting the computer I copied the folder and tried to open it in Visual Web Developer (now I have VWD 2010). I can see the both Database under App_Data folder (ASPNETDB.mdf and the DB I created). ASPNETDB has all the tables and data as expected. But I do not see the tables under the DB I created.

I also tried in one of my friends computer who has Visual Web Developer 2008. But same result.

I am just wondering if anyone can help me with retreiving the table. I have a bad feeling that I might needed to do something to backup the data (not sure though). But the tables should be still there ... isn't it ?

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

MVC Routing and WebForm Routing in same Project

We have developed Web Application with WebForm in ASP.Net 3.5 and C#.  Later we migrated this Application to ASP.Net 4.0. We have already used Routing Feature for WebForm Application. The extension to this application also needs to run on different SMART Phones. To support that we have developed Application in the MVC. Means, we have single Web Application with WEBForm + MVC and both will run side by side.   Now, we are facing issue that How to configure Routing (as, we need Routing to be used WebForm as well as MVC).   How to manage this?   Thanks

Cannot see top link bar when creating a Web Database site

Hi, I am new to Sharepoint 2010 and am very keen to start using the new Web Database site templates such as Asset Web Database and Issue Web Database. I am able to create these without issue however once i build and navigate to these sites i lose the top link navigation bar. For other sites such as Team Site this is not problem and the navigation site remains. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to show this navigation bar for these site templates?

How to add existing SourceSafe database to SSMS project

I have a several large Visual Sourcesafe (VSS) databases with scripts of all objects of several SQL server databases. They were integrated into VSS using Visual Studio. But the Solution file in VSS can not be opened from SQL Server Management Studio 2008 (SSMS). (Its a .sln file, and I need a .ssmssln file). If I try I get an error saying that the solution file was created with a newer version ...

My question is : How do I create a new SSMS project and connect it to one of the existing VSS databases to make it possible to view/check in/check out all the procedures, functions, tables etc. already stored in VSS from within SSMS.

Themes/Generic.xaml issue when file is Link from another project

Hello,

I have two Project A and B that use a Themes project. In the Themes project, I defined a Generic.xaml file. If I run the program on the A project, it works.

But in the second project (B) I don't create the Generic.xaml file but link (add existing item -> add as link) it from the first project (A). When I run this one I got this error :

'/Theme;component/Themes/Generic.xaml' value cannot be assigned to property 'Source' of object 'System.Windows.ResourceDictionary'. Cannot locate resource 'themes/generic.xaml'.  Error at object 'System.Windows.ResourceDictionary' in markup file 'AssemblyProjectB;component/app.xaml' Line 9 Position 37.

If in the second project (B) I create the file instead of linking the generic.xaml created in the first project (A), it works.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Error to Add a Database to a Visual Studio 2010 Project via the App_Data Folder

I am trying to add a new database via the App_Data Folder and I receive an error described below.

When I attempt to add ANY TYPE OF SQL SERVER DATABASE through the App_Data folder I receive this error "Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2008 to function properly.  Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URl."

I can create a db via SQL Server Mgmt Studio, it connects fine, and I can see tables.

Visual Studio- Server Explorer connects fine to the Database, I can see the tables.

Im running XP SP3 w/ Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer.  I had previously removed SQL Server Express.

Why cant I access the database within my project, when Im able to connect to this fine within Visual Studio Server Explorer?

How did they link directly to views in the Bugs Database Template?

I just created a site using the SharePoint Bug Database Template.  I would like to know how, in the Quick Launch, they are able to link directly to pages that display different views of the bugs list.  My understanding is that the only way to do this would be to create a blank .aspx page, and drop a web part on it that shows the list, then in modifying the web part, tell it what view to display.  I did this in another site I built.

However, in the Bugs site, I don't see any indication that it was done that way.  When looking at All Site Content I don't see a list of web pages (with the webpart) that display these views.  Also, the modify webpart drop down arrow is not visible on any of the pages.

Was this done in a different way on this site template?  I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me how it was done, so that I might use that method next time around.

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

I want to upload images in to a folder in my project and save the URL in the database.

Hi, I want to upload images in to a folder in my project and save the URL in the database.

When you add a record into my database you provide title, date added and some other details and there it a file upload control which you browser to a image and it saves the image to a folder in my project, it all works, the record is added and the image is uploaded into the folder, but the problem I have is that there is no link from the record to the image, there is no URL path saved in the record. How do I save the image in the folder and save the URL of the image to the record?

I'm using details view to insert the records and using grid view to view the records.

Thanks

Including an SQL Express Database File in a Setup Project

I'm building a win app using VS 2008 in C# using an SQL Express 2005 DB.  What is the best way to include a SQL DB in a setup project.  Does the SQL need to have a .dbo or .mdf extension?  I'm new to SQL Server Express.

Link to photo url in an Access Web Database

Can someone tell me if it is possible to link to photos urls (photos not stored locally) on the web in an Access Web Database table?

We want photos to be displayed in when the database is published to SharePoint, but would prefer not to host the photos on our server.

If this is possible - I'd love to know how, and a quick explanation of what code will make this work.

Thanks in advance!
