Cannot load resources: Inconsitancies during desgn- runtime packuris.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
I've a small problem regarding pack-uri's in my application, this involves inconsistencies during runtime and design time. During design-time I am able to use relative uri - what i presume to be relative to local assembly i.e. pack://application:,,,/Resources/add_small.png but during runtime the image is never displayed. I've found a way to work around this matter by referencing the assembly itself in the uri i.e. pack://application:,,,/BluewaterFishing.Package.Basic;component/Resources/add_small.png Recently I've been trying out visfire products as a charting solution and I stumble on the same type of constancies between design- and run-time. During design time the charts display normally and during runtime a exception is thrown "A first chance exception of type 'System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException' occurred in PresentationFramework.dll. Additional information: Set property 'System.Windows.FrameworkTemplate.Template' threw an exception." In terms of product setup, I'm closely following the traditional Microsoft conventions as seen in their products: Visual Studio, Exchange Server. I'm using the following path layout seen below. In my application I'm using the main executable as a boot-strapper for the different modules. The problems occur in such a module. $(InstallDir)/Project.exe $(InstallDir)/Data.1/ $(InstallDir)/Data.2/ $(InstallDir)/Private A

How to restrict runtime to load dlls from bin folder only and not look elsewhere

Hi, How do I restrict runtime to see only bin folder to load two specific dlls To explain the scenario better, I need my windows application to communicate with MQ server. But my constraint is that I do not want the users of the application to load MQ Client. For this I extracted two dlls from MQ client and included in my project's bin folder and tried to conect to MQ server. It works perfectly fine if there is no MQ Client installed on the machine. But if any version of MQ Client is present on the machine, it fails. I believe it is trying to read from the dlls present on the machine instead of reading it from bin folder and it fails for some of the older version which did not supported .NET calls. I would want to restrict the runtime to read only two dlls and not go to load other dlls if it finds MQ Client installed.   Can <assemblybind> or probing method help me in this? If so, how to include it in my config file.

How would runtime determine which assembly to load?

Hi , How would runtime behave, if I have an assembly with same version number in two different folders on my machine? How to restrict the runtime to read from bin folder only for my specific assembly?

Setup Error - Failed to load resources from resource file

I tried to install The Lord of the Rings Online, but it always gives me the message (translated in english) that i need to install Net Framwork v1.1.4322. "ok, that's no problem" i thought, but every time i try to install Net Framework (any version) there are errors when trying to install it. With the 1.1 setup, it tells me "Setup Error - Failed to load resources from resource file", the 2.0 setup tells me that it is already installed (o.O?) but i can't see it in the "uninstall programs" list and the 3.0 and 3.5 just won't start. Nothing happens. I tried to install Net framework 4.0 beta which works fine but LotRO keeps telling me the same error message (i think because version 1.1 isn't included in higher versions)I'm running Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate: 2GB Ram, Intel Core duo e6750, GeForce 8800 gts (512 mb)Please help me :)

How to load "Database Instance" for "Database Trace Listener" at runtime

I have been searching for a while now without success. On how when using EntLib 5.0 Logging, Data; to be able to set the database (i.e. the connection string) at runtime for a Database Trace Listener. The reason being we will have the same configurations on all levels of the environments (dev, test, stage, prod), but the connection string is different for each and we do not store the connection string data in the config file. The connection string data is loaded using a custom configuration manager for security reasons.

Any help and any code sample much appreciated.

How do that .Net project runtime determine load which assembly

I have a .Net 2.0 prject , and need call .Net3.5 assembly. If the machine set up .net3.5, it can work;  otherwise it will throw exception. Now I want to prepair two aseembly, .net2.0 and .net3.5. They are same source and IO, but .net2.0 disable some .net3.5 functions. When I found the machine doesn't support .net3.5, I call the .net2.0 aseembly. How do it?

Create And Run Excel Macro At Runtime in C#

You've been tasked with writing a Windows Form application using the .NET Framework that interacts with Microsoft Excel. If you are new to working with Excel in .NET and are having trouble learning how to format certain cells or cell ranges, then this little tip will come in handy. Rather than scour the internet hoping to find the correct set of constants or method syntax for formatting your spreadsheet, use the built in tools in Excel to write the familiar VBA code for you. Then, you can paste the VBA code generated by Excel into the sample C# code below and run it dynamically at runtime.

How to detect and avoid memory and resources leaks in .NET application

Despite what a lot of people believe, it's easy to introduce memory and resources leaks in .NET applications. The Garbage Collector, or GC for close friends, is not a magician who would completely relieve you from taking care of your memory and resources consumption.

I'll explain in this article why memory leaks exist in .NET and how to avoid them. Don't worry, I won't focus here on the inner workings of the garbage collector and other advanced characteristics of memory and resources management in .NET.

DataTable - Load from IDataReader - CreateDataReader - ReadXml WriteXml - Free ADO.NET Tutorials

The DataTable in ADO.NET 2.0 has been seriously beefed up and I absolutely love it. Not everything we consume deals with multiple resultsets and requires the ever popular DataSet. With the cool new features in the ADO.NET 2.0 DataTable, we can get many of the cool features in the DataSet without all the extra baggage and memory footprint particular to multiple resultsets.

How to Localize Windows Forms and Change the Language at Runtime

Localization is the process of customizing your application to a particular language, culture or locale. Visual Studio provides support for localizing Windows Forms with much ease. In this article, we will see how to localize windows forms and give the user the ability to change to his preferred language at runtime.
When you run a localized application, the appearance is determined by two culture values. The UICulture property is used to specify which resource files will be loaded for the form. The Culture property, on the other hand, determines how strings such as dates, numerals, and currency amounts are formatted.
Let us see the steps required to create a localized form. You can then expand this example and adopt the same approach for the rest of the forms in your project
