Cannot register a service type without attaching the source assembly to the host process

I'm wondering if there is any way I can register a service type without attaching the source assembly to the host process. When I register the service type, the source assembly (which has the type) cannot be written.   I appreciate your attention..

Error Build: Type or namespace could not be found, when referencing a web service

Hello, I'm new in writing C# application in Visual Studio 2008. I'm currently writing a web application for CRM 4.0 Reporting Service rendering. I reference my web application to our Reporting Service web service http://reportservername /ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx and name it 'RSWebReference'. Then I want to reference it in my code: Using RSWebReference; Not sure why, but I cannot build my solution, saying "The type or namespace name 'RSWebReference' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)". I read this thread in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/74f70e30-83e8-4817-b5e0-7729450730a1 that the website probably is using .net 1.1, and I should change it to .net 2.0. However, I think the website is already using 2.0. Is it probably because I'm using VS 2008? How can I tell and change if the website is using 1.1 or 2.0? Or could I be doing something wrong? Thanks in advanced for your help! -Elizabeth K.

How to expose an enum type to a client via WCF if it isn't used as a param type in any service oper

Hi,   I want to 'expose' an enum type from my server via WCF so that my client can access it. This happens automagically if I use the enum as a parameter type within a service operation, however, what if the particular enum isn't part of any service operation?   In other words, I've defined serveral enums within my Server that are quite useful to my client (even though they don't appear in any of my paramter declarations for the service operations).   The only way I can get this to work is simply create dummy service operations that contains these enum's as arguments. The MEX page then exposes these types for my client to use, but this seems a bit naff.   Thanks   Paul.

How to find specific nested object type in Gridview

Dears, I have a gridview with a nested placeholder in each rows. I nested some checkboxes in each placeholders in each rows dynamically, so their ServerIDs are not the same (I dont want to use nested gridview). at the end in a button event I want to count checked checkboxes in gridview while I can not use findcontrol() method in each rows to find checkboxes due to their different ServerIDs. How can I do this?

How To "Upload a new document template" to Content Type via Web Service

I hope someone can help me. Let me begin by saying that I'm not a programmer; so I 'may' not get the terminology exactly right, but hopefully someone will know what I mean. I am using SharePoint 2010 along with a 3rd party application that I'm using for creating, managing and executing workflows.  The workflow application I'm using is Nintex Workflow 2010.  As such, I can only use functions, services, commands...etc...that are offered to me by that application. Anyway, what I am trying to do is simply replace a document template that is being used for a particular content type with another document template. For this I believe I need to use the Webs.UpdateContentTypeXmlDocument Method.  More information is provided here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/websvcwebs.webs.updatecontenttypexmldocument.aspx). The Webs.UpdateContentTypeXmlDocument method requires two parameters..."contentTypeId" and "newDocument". "contentTypeId" - I have got the Content Type ID by clicking on the content type and viewing the URL shown in my browser.  So, I am confident that my content type id is correct and is "0x010100C392CF11DE923A4E8AB9018B0A42119303". "newDocument" - The MSDN article states...'A string that represents the XML document to replace the existing XML document.".  To be honest, I'm not 100%

Web Service ParserError Could not create type

Getting error message with our web service: Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Could not create type 'ATGIntegration.B2CBlueprintOMSIntegrationWSBinding'. Source Error: Line 1: <%@ WebService Language="vb" CodeBehind="Service.asmx.vb" Class="ATGIntegration.B2CBlueprintOMSIntegrationWSBinding" %>   Two versions of this web service installed on a server (one for development) with the only difference being the web.config file. Web service worked without error for over a year. Recently made some changes to the code, compiled and copy and pasted bin files to the bin folder for the development web service. Then this error appeared. Then I put back the original bin files but same error. At this time the live web service was still working. Later I copied bin folder from live to dev and that broke live. I can fix this error by rebooting the machine, accessing the web service in error, making any change to the web.config file and finally accessing the web service again. The problem is that this error re-appears after a random period of time for no obvious reason. I follow the process again to fix. I have done this process 8 times now. Both dev

Could not find the OSpace type for...

Hi,I'm trying to use the Entity Framework Model for the first time and am getting the following error when trying to use an gridview and Entity Data Source. Could not find the OSpace type for 'TestModel.test'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Could not find the OSpace type for 'TestModel.test'.There's not much else around on this error but I found another couple of posts relating to Sharepoint but have found nothing else that helps.I already have the following references in the Web.Config: System.Data.Entity, System.Data.Entity.Design, System.Web.Entity. Additional to this I've also tried unchecking the "Allow this precompiled site to be updatable" in the compilation of Web Deployment project's Properties. Can anybody help?ThanksM

How to use return JSON object from web service as a declared Type?

Hi, I just hit the following issue: I am calling a web service that returns a serialized JSON object let's say: __type, FirstName, LastName (.net object Person with properties FirstName and LastName). __type's value is Test.Person I have created a JS object using Type.registerNameSpace/registerClass called Demo.Person and it is registered on the page using the ScriptManager. Everything is working fine; I am able to get data from the server on the call back. Is it possible to make the returned object from the web service be an instance of the declared JavaScript Demo.Person class? The idea would be to call a method like result.getFullName() on the client side without having to copy all the properties. This is just a simple scenario for more complex objects.   Thanks,   Teo

Cannot create unknown type when loading WF Service from loose Xaml with ActivityXamlServices

I am trying to host a WF4 (RC) Service dynamically. I have a test solution with two projects. The first is a declarative workflow service library with one root Flowchart activity in it, and a simple custom code activity. The workflow service library does not depend on any other custom assemblies or references. The second is my host app, which in my test solution is just a console application.

In my host app, I am attempting to the use ActivityXamlServices to load the Xaml for the workflow service into an activity, and then use the WorkflowServiceHost to fire up a workflow instance using that activity.

As soon as I try to new up the WorkflowServiceHost object, I get this exception...

Cannot create unknown type '{clr-namespace:DeclarativeServiceLibrary1}CodeActivity1'.

If I remove CodeActivity1 from my Flowchart designer, everything runs fine. If I add a direct reference to the workflow service project from my host project and then create a WorkflowServiceHost using an instance of my Flowchart activity instead of the activity created from the Xaml, it also works fine.

It seems to not like using my CodeActivity for some reason when loaded dynamically.

External Content Type - Read List Operation - "Cannot find a collection element of a supported type.

I'm trying to define External Content Type Operations for an External Content Type. I can add a Connection, Type "WCF Service" no problem. And I can define a "New Read Item Operation" using that connection.

But I can't define a "Read List Operation". I get the following error message, in the Return Parameter Configuration: "Cannot find a collection element of a supported type..." it goes on to say - see the help documentation for supported types. I can't find any help documentation on this.

I've tried returning different types in the provider web service but keep getting the same error. What are the supported types the web service can return?

The reading I've done suggests that you can connect to a non-MS web service using a connection type of "WCF Service". Is this correct? If it is what's the best soap format the web service provider should use - Doc/Literal?
