Problem about opening Office documents in SPS2003

Hi, I have a problem about opening Office documents in SPS2003. The situation is as follows: I use the same NB in building A and building B. In building A everything is fine but in building B when I open Office documents(word, excel..) in my SPS2003 portal something happened. If documents don't need authorization these documents are opened quickly but documents that need authorization when I typed id and password documents are opened very slowly(about 5-10 minutes). So what is the reasom about this problem. Any suggestion? Thanks.

Office 2007 Documents Open in Read-Only when Opening them from a WSS 2.0 Document Library

Hi, When any of our Windows 7 Pro computers that run Office 2007 Pro attempt to open a Word document that resides in a WSS 2.0 document library by using the drop down menu and selecting "Edit with MS Word", the documents open in read-only.  Our work-around is to save the document locally, modify it, and then save it back to the document library. We have some Windows XP and Vista systems that run Office 2007 and they are fine and can simply edit the document and save it.  We also have a handful of pc's that run Office 2003 and they are not having any issues either. Things I've tried: Office 2007 Repair - no luck Office Reinstall - no luck Some registry mod HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12\Internet\OpenDocumentReadWrite=1 (noted on a MSKB article) - no luck and after re-reading the article it clearly states that this will not address content hosted on WSS or SPS sites Clearing IE temp files, resttting IE to defaults - no luck Once again, this only seems to happen to Win7Pro pc's that run Office 2007.  Honestly, I can't tell if IE8 has anything to do with this. Any thoughts or help would be extrememly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Login prompt appearing when opening Office documents

Each time I open an Office document in a SharePoint library, I have to re-enter my credentials.

I am using MOSS 2007, Windows XP and IE 7.

I've checked the 'remember my password' option when being prompted for my credentials.

The strangest thing is even that when I press Cancel on the pop-up window asking for my credentials, the document is still opened...

I found already some posts around this matter and tried already following suggestions:

* I added my site to the trusted sites

* I checked that 'basic authentication' is unchecked under Central Administration -> Application Management -> Authentication Providers

* I've added my credentials for the server hosting the SharePoint environment in the managed passwords for my user account in the control panel (though I am not 100% sure of having this done correctly. It is asking upon entering an extra credential for a server name. I entered here the same name as the one appearing on top of the pop-up window asking for credentials, after 'connect to')

Opening .pdf, .zip files is not asking for the credentials. So it is only Microsofts own files which are creating the problem.

Login prompt when opening office documents in SharePoint 2010 library

Environemnt : SharePoint 2010
Windows based authentication being used for site. All SharePoint servers part of the same network.

When i try opening office documents from document library( .docx, xlsx), SharePoint prompts for login credentials even though i am already logged into the website, worse part is that it prompts me for credentials for every document that i open. Also any files other then PDF opens up in the local machine's office application (word or excel) instead of in the browser.

I had migrated this webspplicatoin from MOSS and then did a visual upgrade as well to it, when i verified in the MOSS version of the site after i am log into the site ones it never prompts for login credentails ever when opening an office document.

Any body knows why this is happening.

Long delay opening Word documents from SharePoint 2007 with Office 2010

The first time a document is opened it's fine, opens in just a few seconds.

Subsequently, there is a long delay (about 20 seconds) in the "Contacting server for information..." step.

This happens to all users and all documents, each one will open fast the first time then slowly the second and subsequent times (until, we think, the app pool is recycled - there is no schedules iisreset/reboot).

This does not happen when using Office 2007.

IE6 and 7 exhibit the same behaviour.

Error Opening Office Documents with Office 2003

Hi all,

Sharepoint 2007. When I try to open documents (clicking on it) in a sharepoint document Library with office 2003, i receive an error that say that the file is not valid and to check the path.

If i try to open document with the scroll down menu and the "edit command", the document open normaly.

Even if i try to open the same document with office 2007 it works normally.

It seem something due to the read only opening of the file...

Can you help me?

Many thanks

Edit bar in Office 2007 not showing up when opening documents through a shortcut. Documents are rea

For more than one user in my network, they are unable to edit office documents when opened through a shortcut.  The document opens in read only mode, cannot find a way in office to edit the document such as through the publish or server menu items.  I did a search and this did not resolve the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870853

Our sharepoint server is 2003, coupled with SBS 2003

SQL database 2000

Users are using Office 2007, sp2

Operating System: XP, sp3

IE 8

Users are setup to receive all MS updates, so they have latest updates.

The edit bar shows up when opening the document in sharepoint as read only.  Clicking it allows the user to edit the document.  They have contribute privileges to the library and file in sharepoint.  The file(s) are being opened with a shortcut (right click -> New -> Shortcut, paste in the hyperlink to the document in sharepoint).  Strangely enough, I have the same setup as the other users but using office 2010 and the edit document bar shows up when opening the document in the same manner.  On a side note, some users have infopath 2010 installed, others do not.

Any help would be appreciated, or posts to other topics with solutions that I misse

Office XP: New Toolkit Lets You Share Information Between Office Documents and Web Services

The Office XP Web Services Toolkit makes it possible to build applications that gather information and trigger transactions through various Web Services. The toolkit allows you to easily discover Web Services remotely. It also includes the Web Service Reference Tool, which lets you call a Web Service from inside an Office application. This article shows how toolkit-generated code can be used to access simple, as well as complex, Web Services. The author steps through the auto-generated code to explain the classes that collect parameters, the schema to format the request/response, and the actual operations of the Web Service.

Problem opening dotnet 1.1 projet on 2008 web server

We recently upgraded to a 2008 development web server and I installed all the stuff to get dot net 1.1 app working on the server.  I can host them and they work.  My problem is that when I try to open one in VS 2003 I get the following error.  I set up the web server the same as my previous one, and I think a long time  ago I got this error when we set up current one but do not remember how to resolve it.  So I moved my project files from the old server to the new server and then I get these errors.

The web Server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web Project located at the following url: Http://localhost:/MobTracker. 'Http/1.1 500 server error

Can I search Office Documents (Excel, Word etc) in WSS 3.0 without having to install MS Office?

Does WSS 3.0 come with the filters for searching MS Office Documents or do you have to have MS Office installed on WSS 3.0 Server?
