WSS 2.0 Upgrade To 3.0 - databaserepair command missing.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hello - We are upgrading a WSS 2.0 server to 3.0. We have a new server setup with WSS 3.0 installed. I have run the prescan and have a few issues to correct. My issue is the "databaserepair" command is missing and I am not able to run the command from stsadm. My understanding was this was included in a hotfix post SP2 and we have SP3 installed so the commands should be there? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

Pre upgrade missing web parts

I am trying to fix all pre upgrade errors we have, but now i am stuck at two issues.

1: The following web part(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server

Id = 530cf774-77de-679d-f9a3-de8e74999ba8, Type = Unknown, Reference = 5, Status = Missing

This one comes up on all our SharePoint servers except for one of our FE servers. Now i searched for the site this webpart is on and with ?contents=1 and see if there is a error webpart. But this is not the case. Anyone has a idea how i can find out what the problem is here?

2: The following setup file(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server

SP2010 Upgrade Error: Missing Reusable Content Types

During the in-place upgrade from MOSS2007 to SharePoint 2010, I experienced the following issue for numerous site collections.  Even though these were errors, the configuration wizard completed with Errors stating that there were some sites not fully upgraded.

I cannot determine how to resolve this error and complete the content database upgrade.   Thanks in advance.

In the Upgrade-YYYYMMDD-######-##-error.log file, the following details were logged for about 15 different site collections:

Custom Content Types Missing after 2007 Upgrade to 2010

Hello everyone -

We have a portal solution leveraging custom publishing content types and page layouts in 2007. The database was backed up, and the upgrade was done via dbattach on a 2010 environment. The site works seemingly fine - though there is some strange behavior we noticed where a few content types are missing.

The Content Type Gallery lists only say 10 of the 15 content types we should have. Loading the Master Page and Page Layout Gallery we see the inheriting content type, though clicking on it yields in an error as though it cannot find the content type. These are all custom content types, though they are not very different from each other.

Has anyone experienced this problem and devised a solution? - I tried to iterate through the site collection via a console application to see if I could somehow update or intercept the issue with the missing content types to no avail. I'll be open to suggestions / tools recommended...

All the best,

Alex

Portal Site Connection Missing After Upgrade

I have just upgraded to 2010 from 2007 and noticed that the portal site connection is not showing up on the different site collections it was setup on. If I go into site actions->portal site connections, the setting is still enabled and the URL is still correct. How can I get this back? This was a very useful feature..

Upgrade fails because of missing non custom site definitions.

Hi, we are trying to upgrade our MOSS 2007 installation. From the beginning i had lots of errors in the preupgradecheck and test-spcontentdb. But now i only have a few left, too bad they are making the whole "Mount-SPContentDB" to fail.

So first, a little overview of the environment:

Old MOSS: Windows Server 2008 x86, MOSS 2007 SP2 with October cumulutive hotfixes. Swedish Language Pack installed. Enterprise features enabled.
OLD DB: Windows Server 2008 x86, SQL 2005

New MOSS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Sharepoint Server 2010, Swedish Language Pack installed. Enterprise features enabled.
New DB: Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL 2008 R2

Here is the erros from the preupgradecheck:

Issue : Missing server file or server configuration issues
Server side files are referenced in the content databases, but are not installed on the server. Without these files, the sites may not function completely or the content may not render correctly. Also, upgrade or post upgrade issues may occur if these files are not available in the new version environment. The following web part(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server
Id = e6377261-6920-bbfe-501f-fda7a61db10f, Type = Unknown, Reference = 3, Status = Missing
Id = b03e1652-5399-916f-f123-46a028d419ac, Type = Unknown, Reference = 2

Upgrade failed due to missing features though preupgradecheck didnt give errors

I am trying to migrate from sharepoint 2007 to 2010,I first ran preupgrade check,it gave me error realted to feature info,I migrated using database attach method, found 55 errors in log, downloaded tool called feature admin from codeplex, found some faulty features, removed them, ran preupgrade check ,received featureinfo passed, repeated again the migration process ,got 40 errors realted to missing features,if the preupgradecheck didnt give errors related to features, why am i getting upgrade failed due to missing features

Error_1_Error occurred in deployment step 'Upgrade solution': Command ID 'Contoso.Commands.IsSolu

When following this article for creating a Custom Deployment Step for SharePoint Projects i get the following error. (MSFT Article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee256698.aspx)

Error: Error 1 Error occurred in deployment step 'Upgrade solution': Command ID 'Contoso.Commands.IsSolutionDeployed' is invalid.

I have gone through the article two times and each time it does the samething. Any reason why it can't see the Command ID?

2008 R2 Upgrade Advisor from command prompt fails

I've run the 2008 R2 Upgrade Advisor (from the GUI) successfully, finding several upgrade issues in a run which takes around 20 minutes. When I run the command prompt version of the tool, using the config file created by the GUI run, it returns immediately with no error message and having created no report. Here's the command:

C:\>"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Upgrade Advisor\UpgradeAdvisorWizardCmd.exe" -ConfigFile "C:\Documents and Settings\MyLogin\My Documents\SQLServer 2008 R2 Upgrade Advisor Reports\MyServer\Config.xml"

Why is the command doing nothing? I need this to automate my pre-upgrade analysis work.

Pre-Upgrade: Identifying Missing Web Parts / Features

I'm trying to find what feature the upgrade report is referencing. I tried forcing a removal based on the ID and when I run the upgrade check again, they are still there. Any other way to get a simple name based on the Feature ID?

The following feature(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server

  • Name = Unknown, Feature id = d0944c5e-9a3a-41a0-ab89-6a810e305574, Reference count = 1, Scope = Web, Status = Missing
  • Name = Unknown, Feature id = b8ded45f-e2d9-4a5f-bd7f-502b737be901, Reference count = 24, Scope = Web, Status = Missing
  • Name = Unknown, Feature id = 84353df7-52b1-463c-a9c0-88a15a0f2087, Reference count = 1, Scope = Web, Status = Missing
  • Name = Unknown, Feature id = 15dd658a-9006-42e7-ab43-54554cf67aa5, Reference count = 1, Scope = Web, Status = Missing
The following setup file(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server
  • Path = [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\SharePointAJAX\dwp\SPCommunity.webpart], Reference = [1], Status = [Missing]
  • Path = [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\SharePoi

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.

Row command working on all rows not selected one?

Hi,

I have this code that hides a column in a gridview.  (The column houses another nested gridview).

Protected Sub GridView1_RowCommand(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewCommandEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowCommand
        If e.CommandName = "Select" Then
            If GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = False Then
                GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = True
            Else
                GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = False
            End If
        End If
    End Sub

The trouble is that if I click the select link on one row that action to hide is carried out on all rows.  How can I set this up so that it only hides the row that is selected?

Thanks.

Missing 'new item templates'

 Hi all,

I am a 'newbie' to VWD and I am slowly working through the Basic Walkthrough Help files, and learning plenty along the way.

However, when I tried to create a new database in the LINQ control walkthrough I found that the option to create a new database is missing, and further investigation has found that many other new item templates are missing.

I am using a brand new machine with Windows 7 Ultimate and have enabled IIS and .NET from Control Panel-Programs-Turn Windows Features On-Off. I used the WPI to install all basic elements eg. IIS Components, SQL Server Express.

The only 'new item templates' I have when I right-click the App_Data Folder and choose 'new item' are:-

ADO.NET Data Service

AJAX Enabled WCF Service

Dynamic Data Field

SQL Server Database

Text File

XML File

Does anyone know where I have gone wrong.

Could someone please tell me what is wrong with my syntax here?  I'd be much appreciative.

Best Way to Upgrade Using Web Setup Project

Hi there,

I am using VS2005.

I don't have much experience with web setup projects, but I now need to create a decent windows installer in order to allow customers to install one of our web applications. I have created a simple web setup project and it works fine, but not when it comes to upgrades of the application.

If for instance I install version 1.0 on a machine, and then later I try to install version 2.0, I don't seem to have the control that I would like... I can specify in the web setup project that the installer must enforce an uninstall of previous version, but then all application files and logs are uninstalled as well. If I let the application just install itself over the older version, it seems to leave some old DLL's there - it then causes issues in the application because DLL version conflicts.

My basic requirement is that I would like th installer to upgrade the old version with all the files required, but leave any application and log files in tact - this way the customer won't have to reconfigure the application after install.

What is the best way to handle this?
