SSRS Integrated: Program Subscription Building?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
We have a few hundred clients, and we need to run a daily sql report for each of them. Saved in a document library, they can be picked up by the Search. I'd like to avoid the manual work of setting up 200+ report subscriptions. What would be the recommended route?1) Work with the sql 2008 object model?2) Work with the MOSS object model? (I see no class methods available for this - is this even possible?)3) Work directly with either the report server database or the sharepoint database and with ado.net just loop through a set of insert statements, one for each client we want a report for? Thanks for any input/direction.markusMarlin7

SSRS integrated mode email subscription to AD dist group

I have MOSS 2007 running SQL 2008 SSRS integrated mode and have created some reports and report subscriptions. Everything is working great. Now I want to use an Active Directory Distribution Group as a recipient for a report subscription - does not work, however the "last results" show no error. Try again using Dist Group in TO: field but adding regular email in CC: field...only email in CC field receive report, again all successful. Does SSRS integrated mode support AD distribution groups? if so is there any special setup required? Thanks LmmMmmm...yummy...

Setting Title on SSRS (SharePoint Integrated Mode) subscription.

I have some subscriptions in SSRS where the report goes directly to a Document Library on Sharepoint.  The subscription works fine, however, I would like to have the Title of the report be the current date that the report is run.  Is there a way to put a formula such as =[today] in the Title field of the File Options section on the Subscription properties?  I have tried this but either it is not possible or I am not using the correct syntax.  Thanks, Tim Olig

Is Conditional Subscription possible in SSRS 2005?

Hi Guys,

Is there a way to set up a subscription that will send e-mails based on the contents of a report? For example, I want to schedule a daily subscription that will only send an e-mail if the report contains data, otherwise it will do nothing for that day. i.e If the report has more than one row, it should send the mail otherwise it should not send the mail.....

Is it possible in SSRS 2005 or is there any other way to do it???

Share Point integrated SSRS reports rendering when access from external site

Our client has a SharePoint (moss2007) site on Windows 2008, SQL2008 R2 Enterprise, and Reporting service is integrated with SharePoint

The authentication on the share point integration is set to windows, else the authentication for the SSAS datasource gives and error

The extranet zone ( forms) and intranet (Customer Forms) and default (Windows) zones are all access from inside the firewall and the reports render in each with no issues, as the datasources are configured to pass a sql username and password.

However, report rendering is a problem from the internet (external site), the following error is displayed:

An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is avai

Schedule reports with integrated authentication SSRS 2008

Hi All,  Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....." What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be hones

using SSRS Windows File Share subscription to send file to sharepoint

Hello, I'm looking for the simplest way to automate sending SSRS reports to a Sharepoint document directory.  I know a document library is not a real directory but I am able to run copy scripts into one using the virtual path thats shown when I do Actions-> Open in Windows Explorer. However when I set up a subscription to send a report to this directory, I get an error: Failure writing file \\intranet\projects\docs\test.pdf : The network name cannot be found.  Just checking if anyone knows if this should be able to work or not. Thanks

Multivalued parameter & Data driven subscription for SSRS 2005

I need to create data driven subscription for our reports. Most our reports have multi valued parameters (7-12 parameters with at least 4-5 with multiple values)and need to be send to a users between the range of 25-200. So standard subscription is really not a choice.I have gone through most of the threads before. Question 1:Does any one have a solution for the SSRS 2005 regarding passing mutiple values for a parameter for the Data subscription table. If yes, could you please share the information. Question 2:I found some solutions using the SOAP API. Can any one explain that in detail- how we can do it ?Reference:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/8ab615b4-1373-4258-bf49-c2843cfea8e9/http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=516735&SiteID=1 Question 3:Here is the other solution I found in one of the postsApparently passing in values like {A, B, C} only works when you configure the parameter values not to come from a dataset so that SSRS doesnt check for ValidValues.Reference: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/b2c50aea-2032-4025-a155-306c00fcb856/Any commends about this solution? Thanks

SSRS Subscription Management: Restart, Stop, View Status, update properties, etc

As SSRS admins, there are times when a user comes to us and ask: I didn't get my reported emailed to me today?or worst, a report subscription going to multiple people doesn't run and now you have lots of people missing their subscription - (suppose server crashed, or something happened). One idea of course would be to have the subscription owner re-schedule it to run now, or create a new -- but - i'm thinking - we should create a subscription adminstration tool.a .net app that queries the ssrs web service, gets a list of subscriptions in the ssrs system (or perhaps by folder) and then is able to 'restart a subscription', "stop a running one", 'view all subscription status, schedule, owner, etc' if I wanted to d this - what is the web service that I could use this for?and most importanly - has anybody dont anything like this that they can share?this is for ssrs 2005 & and I'm hoping 2008 can be called through the same .net app tool

Sharepoint and SSRS Sharepoint integrated mode, any side effect ?

Hi, We planned to switch from native mode to sharepoint integrated mode our SQL Server Reporting Server. But it is a production server, so we liked to know if any side effect can happened on existing report and if it is possible to switch an existing database into sharepoint integrated mode ? Thanks, Mathieu Perrin.

SSRS Subscription Defaults

Hi, We use SSRS 2008 for many of our reporting needs, and it is set up in Sharepoint Integration mode.  If you click on "Manage Subscriptions" --> "Add Subscription" --> "Configure" under the "Delivery Event" option and change the frequency to "Month", the default is to send the report on all months on calendar days 1, 3, 4, and 5.  Is it possible to change this default so that it will just populate "calendar days" with 1, instead of 1,3-5? This gets a bit annoying because many of our users set up their own subscriptions and fly right through the screens, keeping the defaults... Then they get the same report on day 1, 3, 4, and 5, and only want to receive it once.  Thanks.

Integrated SSRS and kerberos working great. But one user gets An unexpected error occurred while conn

I have this one user who can access SharePoint with no problems otherwise but is getting errorAn unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server When they try to access an SSRS reports I confirmed he has access. Client issue? AD Account issue? Thanks.

Building SSRS reports based on SharePoint 2007 lists

Hi,   I'm building a SSRS report, and I want to get data out of a SharePoint 2007 list. The difficulty I'm facing is the following: The SharePoint server is behind an ISA Server, and is configured for Form-Based Authentication. Is there a way to keep the FBA and retreve information out of a SharePoint list with reporting services?   Kind Regards,  AVermaas

SQL 2005 - SSRS - timeout on Subscription Creation

SSRS failing when we are trying to create the subscription with a "timeout" failure.  The report runs when run normally, and we have created subscriptions of this report on other computers.  We have adjusted the timeout value to a very long time.  The error message returned is:   The operation has timed out (System.Web.Services)   ------------------------------ Program Location:      at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request)    at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient.RSClientConnection.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request)    at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2005.ReportingService2005.GetReportParameters(String Report, String HistoryID, Boolean ForRendering, ParameterValue[] Values, DataSourceCredentials[] Credentials)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2005.RSConnection.GetReportParameters(String Report, String HistoryID, Boolean ForRendering, ParameterValue[] Values, DataSourceCredentials[] Credentials)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient.RSClientConnection.GetReportParameters(String report, String

Drill down issues with ssrs in integrated mode

The "jump to report" drilldown option is not working right.  These same reports drill fine on another report server (non-integrated).  It looks like the "path" specified in the url is messed up, it's trying to go to site/subsite/report instead of just subsite/report.  The site that has the report library is not the root site in the site collection. I've tried looking around for a setting for that path but I don't see it.  Seems like the report would know its own path.. Thanks in advance for your help,   Ken SSRS 2005, MOSS 2007

SSRS 2008R2 - go back to parent report does not work sharepoint integrated mode

I'm currently using SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SQL Server 2008R2 with the SharePoint RS add-in. I have a report with a drilldown to another report.  I can drill down correctly to the other report.  But when I do the "go back to parent report" it will take me back to the parent report, but when I try to drilldown again to another report, I get the following error. "Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near ' <!DOCTYPE html PUB'. Line: 5 Char: 62099" When I run this report in VS 2008 or Report Builder 3, I have no problems drilling down and back and forth. I only have an issue when I deploy the report to SharePoint.  I have also accessed the RDL directly outside of a webpart page, but still get the same error. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue?

Need the old "Browser" access in the new SharePoint Integrated with SSRS

0 down vote favorite Does anyone know of a way to add or remove items from the "Actions" menu within a report on SharePoint 2010 Integrated with SSRS 2008 R2? I would like to remove "Open with Report Builder" and add "Subscribe" to the Actions menu. I'm working with my SharePoint Server Admin who is at a loss also. I have found how to remove Report Builder from the server but the Admin doesn't want to do that since I am not his only customer. The "Subscribe" option seems to be driven from permissions but I'm not able to get it to show up for my read-only viewers. It shows up for me but I'm not going to give them admin rights. Basically, what I want is the "Browser" role from Report Manager: "May view folders, reports and subscribe to reports." They couldn't open in Report Builder. It seems so basic. I just want people to view reports and if they'd like, subscribe to them. Thank you
