Permissions to edit a Infopath form

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi, I have a requirement where a group of users should be able to edit the Infopath form and submit that into the FormsLibrary. But at the same time they should not be able to edit the properties of the Item. If i remove contribute permissions they are not able to Edit the Properties but at the same time they are not able to edit the infopath form. Please let me know the approach how to go about. Your suggestions are much valuable now     Sreeharsha Alagani

Using InfoPath Repeating Table in Task Edit form

I need to develop an InfoPath Task Edit form. The form will be used for the approval of the expense reports. I want the users to see the content of the expense report directly on the InfoPath form without clicking on the link and viewing it in a separate window.

I wonder if I can stick the expense report data which is a list into the extended properties of the task and then bind it to InfoPath Repeating Table?

New/Edit Default Form Link for InfoPath Created Forms

I've created 2 forms using InfoPath (Edit & New).  Both forms publish correctly, however I would like the "New" form to display by default when a user creates a New list item, and the "Edit" form to display (by default) when a user attempts to Edit an existing item.

Currently, Each form is available, but the New Form displays by default for either action.  The get the Edit form, the user has to select the the Edit form from the View dropdown box.  I'd really rather not have the dropdown box at all, and simply open the correct form per the action requested by the user.

Assign unique permissions to an infopath web based form

Hello All,

I am facing this problem which has become a real pain. Whenever I try to assign permissions or try to perform any operation on an infopath web based form (item). I get the following error:

"Some part of your SQL statement is nested too deeply. Rewrite the query or break it up into smaller queries.."

Now thanks to this bottleneck, I cant perform any action on the forms thats facing the mentioned error. My aim is to assign unique permissions on a form item with this error, if I follow the conventional way (at UI Level) of assigning form permissions i get this error screen and cant move  forward.

Edit a Microsoft InfoPath Form in SharePoint Datasheet view

Hello- I created a form in Microsoft InfoPath 2003 then published the form in Microsoft SharePoint 2007. I then populated the form with test data and submitted it. I would like to know if the "Edit in Datasheet" under Actions will allow me to edit a submitted Microsoft InfoPath form in SharePoint.  I have administrative rights to the SharePoint site however when I review my sample submission in datasheet view, it indicates in the right corner, "Read Only. Am I doing something wrong or is there no capability to "Edit in Datasheet" for 2003 InfoPath forms?  I have used both SharePoint and InfoPath for a few years but am no expert by any means.  Is there a simple solution to this question?  Will progamming be involved?  If so, is there a link available to walk me through the process.  The key is that individuals must be able to edit their submitted form using a datasheet view.  If the end user makes any changes within the datasheet view, those changes should also update the original form that was populated.

Users who do not have permissions to access InfoPath 2007 web based form can view the form if someon

I have a SharePoint Form Library with an InfoPath form published to the form as the default template. The form library has several forms in it that have line item permissions. This is supposed to restrict who can view the form. If the user who has had their permissions removed navigates to the form through SharePoint the form does not display (this is expected behavior). However if the user is provided a link to the URL for the form then the can view the InfoPath form.

Here is an example of the link: http://moss.companyname.com/test/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/test/InfoPath%20Test/system2009-10-23T12_23_13.xml&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fmoss%2Ecompanyname%2Ecom%2Ftest%2FInfoPath%2520Test%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1

In addition I tried to put the forms into a folder and restirct the permissions on the folder, but the restricted users can still view the form.

When I removed the users permission to the form library then they got an error message.

I also tested this with a SharePoint list item and restricted permissions and this did not allow the user to view the item.

The trial period for this product has expired - When trying to edit an InfoPath Form (Edit in Browse

When I tried to Edit an already filled InfoPath Form using "Edit in Browser" I got the "The trial period for this product has expired" message, could anyone help me where to start checking what could be wrong?

My Infopath form works when edited in Infopath but crashes when I try to edit in a browser

I've created an Infopath 2010 form template that includes external data sources (External Sharepoint Lists) and C# managed code.  When I ran in debug mode it worked and I was able to debug it.  I had problems running it as a Sandbox solution (wouldn't connect to the data sources (my external lists) I had configured... kept saying it couldn't find the endpoint but it worked in debug mode).

I switched to the Administrator approved option and was able to load the form and data connections centrally.  Now I can access the form in my site collection... that's where the fun starts.  When I edit in Infopath, it connects to all data sources and displays the form just fine!  Problem is, I need it to run as a browser form which doesn't work and consistently throws the following error:

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web applicat

Users with permissions cant open or edit form - "The form has been closed"

Dear All,

I am facing this unique problem. Some users in my company's SharePoint portal network despite user permissions, cant open their previous forms or add a new form. Just for testing I also tried giving one of the users full rights, but the problem persists. I am using infopath web based forms.

Following is the error when the user opens up a form:

" Form has been closed"

Upon checking the SharePoint error logs. I found following error message

The form template failed to load. (User: Litware\max.steve, Form Name: Expense, IP": , Request: http://portal/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XsnLocation=http://portal/hr/Expense/Forms/template.xsn&SaveLocation=http://portal/hr/Expense&Source=http://port

Set InfoPath Task Edit form field value from Initiation form

I am using a SharePoint Designer 2010 custom approval workflow. I capture an initiation form parameter and save that value into a field in the list item associated with the workflow.

I need to display this value on the task edit form. I created a task form field, but I cannot find a way to set it from the workflow variable or the list item.

two user edit infopath form same time.

infopath form with 2 field. Field1 and Field 2.

User 1 open the form and fill in Field1 ,but not yet click submit.

User 2 open the form and fill in Field2.

User 2 click submit. User 2 open the form and see the value of Field2.

User 1 click submit.

When open the infopath form, Field 1 was there ,but Field 2 was not. It is because xml of User 1 override xml of user 2.

On the submit event, i just basiclly do Dataconnections["SharePoint Library Submit"].Execute().

How to get around this?

Using Infopath form fieldnames in a workflow fails

I designed a form in Infopath and I published it on a SP2007 server to use in a workflow in a library. That goes fine. In the workflow I send an email message. I can use the fields from my Infopath form in the message that I create.
If the workfow is starts, Shrepoints sends me the message. But it does not use the fields from my InfoPtah form in the message in stead I see questionmarks.

Why doesn't it show the fields?

I alse saw (maybe this makes it clear) that when I let it dipslay the URL in the message, it show: http://1.portal.lucasonderwijs, but the actual site is whithout the "1" and it should also start with https://

Has anyone seen this before?

Thank you,

InfoPath Workflow Task Form "Loading" event handler only being called after App Pool recycled.

I have a Workflow that is using an InfoPath task form.  In the "FormEvents_Loading" method event handler I have some code that needs to run each time the form is opened.   I recycle the App Pool and open the form the code runs perfectly, but if I close and try to re-open the form the code is not run at all.  I can then recycle the App Pool again and on the next load the code executes just fine.   The code that is supposed to be run is a very simple statement to set a field value, so I don't think it is interfering.

Does anyone know what this might be?

Problems moving an InfoPath form from a DEV system to QA environment

We developed an InfoPath form using a local DEV environment.  The site collection under which the form was developed was http://server1/.

We are now attempting to deploy this form to a TEST environment that uses a slightly different structure for the collection, namely http://server2/sites/sitecol1.

In both cases the site that contains the form is /fin (so we were using http://server1/fin in DEV and want to use http://server2/sites/sitecol1/fin in TEST).

The form contains VBA code and so requires admin-based deployment via Central Administration, so to deploy to TEST we:

1. Publish the form against the TEST server using InfoPath Designer

2. Upload the form using Central Administration > Application Managment > Manage Form Templates

3. After upload, we activate the form for the site collection http://server2/sites/sitecol1/

4. The form is then associated with a Form Library

When we try to create an instance of the form within this library we get the following error when we click on New to create the form instance:

The following location is not accessible, because it is in a differ

Infopath cannot load this form. Either the signature is corrupted, or the certificatie used to sign

I have a whole bunch of forms contains errors like whenever you try to open it up.

Infopath cannot load this form.  Either the signature is corrupted, or the certificatie used to sign this form is expired or revoked.

The forms were orginally created with digital signature with it.  But we were in the middle of transition from one company to another company.  The digital signature was no longer valid.  Actually, the certificate should have been expired by now.  I removed all the signatures for all of the forms.  So they can continue using the forms to fill in the information.  The problem right now, is trying to open the old forms with digital signature on it.   Not only the company has changed.  We also moved sharepoint from the old server to the new server.

Any idea to resolve th

Insert image into Infopath form and save to SharePoint as PDF file

I have an InfoPath web-enabled form in MOSS 2007, that is integrated with a K2 blackpoint process for an approval workflow.

Once the form (a Purchase Order request form) has been approved in the K2 workflow process, I switch the form view to a "print-friendly" view for the requestor to view from the browser.  However, now I need to go one step further with this scenario:

1) I need to somehow insert/embed an image with the scanned-in signature of the approver (likely stored in a SP doc library) at the signature line section of my form.  Also, what are the security requirements for storing such images, but not granting all users access to these (e.g. only services accounts that need to access this for embedding into the form, etc.)?

2) Then I need to convert this final "print-friendly" view of the form (with the signature image) to a PDF document so that I can store it in SharePoint (and email it to the requestor using K2's email event capabilities).

Can anyone help me with a solution to both of these requirement, or point me to some resources for this (even 3rd party components are open-game).

InfoPath form checked out so 'on create' workflow not being started

Hi all,

I have found a couple of threads asking for advice on how to check in an InfoPath form when it’s saved or submitted to a forms library. The reason for doing this is so a workflow can start based on a new item being created in that library, and so it doesn’t just sit there with a “Starting” status.

The answers I have found contradict each other:

·         You have to do it with a workflow.  This can be done easily with SharePoint Designer if that's an option for you. Source:
