Hi i am planning to develop a site for mobiles. My first problem is how to find the mobile browser so that i can redirect to the mobile site for good look. When i searched for that i came accross WURFL which contains the list of mobile user agents? Is this the good solution or anybody having good solution please tell which will be helpful for me.

How to setup a Mobile Browser Emulator in Windows Mobile 6:

In the following tutorial, I cover the process of Setting up Windows Mobile 6 for Mobile Browser Emulation using the Microsoft Device Emulator. This enables a user to experience Windows Mobile 6 on a PC via Emulation without even owning a Windows Mobile 6 product. It can be a great way to test drive Windows Mobile 6 before purchasing a product with it installed. In our case, it allowed us to Emulate Windows Mobile Browsing so that we could optimize our sites for the Mobile viewing audience. Installation and Emulation is simple and fairly straight forward.

Use a Windows Mobile Phone as a Bluetooth Modem

Many Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phones and Windows Mobile Smartphones can be connected to a Windows PC via Bluetooth for use as a wireless dial-up modem. If your Windows Mobile device supports Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking, or Bluetooth DUN, and your Windows PC Bluetooth-enabled, you have everything you need.

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to use Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phones or Smartphones as a Bluetooth modem for Windows XP PCs.

Device detection: standard & mobile web applications

I would like to host standard web pages as well as mobile web pages on a single website/virtual directory.

Is there a simple way of sniffing out the machine type and then presenting either web or mobile application depending on the device?

Or is there a better solution other than creating separate website?

Many thanks

Mobile redirect and the browser back button

Has anyone here ever successfully constructed a two-page mobile website with VB, one page for input and one page for displaying results?  If so, how do you call the results page and can you return to the input page using the back button on your mobile browser?  I have no problem creating such a website for regular browsers, but I simply cannot construct one for the iPhone or the Droid ... you can't return to the first page via the backbutton and still have it be functional; all you have is the graphics.  There is no load event for the page you're returning to.  It seems like mobile browsers don't handle server-side redirects properly.  If you open a new page via a hyperlink, you can return to the page you were on and it will still be functional; not so following a redirect to another page on your site. I've experimented endlessly with cache settings, redirect parameters, and the pagestatepersister class to no avail.  I need to know if I'm on a futile quest.  Can anyone offer confirmation for can do/can't do?

Login Authorization Failed on WAP phone browser

Hey all, I am developing website on C# .Net, and provide the site on mobile device. Hence the objective is that users can access the site from WAP phone. My problem happened when I tested my site on Openwave simulator, on which the login authorization failed. On the regular browser it works fine, thus it has to do with the capabilities of WAP phone browser. I google the similar solution and took the steps as following: 1. cookieless set to true 2. plug in script in my login aspx to make the authorization work with the membership provider (where users credential stored). 3. test again, the error code are: 401.2 Logon failed due to server configuration. Here is the relevant part of web.config and the login.aspx web.config ==========================================  <membership>       <providers>         <remove name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" />           <add name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider, System.Web, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=***************" connectionStringName="LocalSqlServer" enablePasswordRetrieval="true" enablePasswordReset="false" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" applicationName="/" requiresUniqueEmail="

Detect what kind of mobile/browser is accessing a webpage

Right now, I have designed my page that works great with an iphone screen, with the help of this meta tag:

<meta id="ctl00_viewport" name="viewport" content="width=320; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;">

Problem is, how do i detect what kind of phone that are acessing my page, and afterwards change this meta tag to fit it to that phone?

Thanks alot :)
