Error attempting to install SQL Server 2008

when i try to run the setup.exe to start the installation, i get the following error:

Microsoft .NET Framework CAS Policy Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close.

this is what is in the error signature:

AppName: caspol.exe      AppVer: 2.0.50727.3053     AppStamp:4889dd08
ModName: mscorwks.dll      ModVer: 2.0.50727.3607      ModStamp:4add5446
fDebug: 0       Offset: 000d0494

i have tried completely removing and reinstalling all of my .net installations and it didn't resolve the  issue. it's weird, because one time i tried to run setup i got two application events but subsequent tries did not produce more events.

the first event's id is 1023:

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3607 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A09795E) (80131506)

the second's id is 1000:

i get the same issue when trying to install just the sql server management studio express.

my machine has windows xp service pack 3 with

SQL Server 2008 r2 - Setup support files - Install error / reading from file

I'm installing SQL server 2008 r2 on a Win2003 R2 x86 system.

After i start the setup, the "setup support files" box begins installing, after a while i get this error:

"Error reading from file f:\1033_ENU_LP\x86\setup\sqlsupport_msi\PFiles\SqlServr\100\Setup\ewbfphdh\x86\Patch\rs2000.msp verify that the file exists and that you can access it."

I've tried another DVD, i've tried a mounted share on another machine...no go....i've tried an ISO file mounted on this server... same error.

Is there any way i can install this "setup support files" from another location? (download)

Is there a switch soo it won't install reporting services? (...i think this file rs2000.msp is from reporting services)

I am getting an error code when trying to install sql server 2008 r2 from Dreamworks

I am running an Windows 7 OS 64x system. I am still learning how to work on computers so please be very detailed when you leave an answer for this question,  I am still in school and still learning, but I need to get this installed for homework and other projects for my class, here is the error that I am getting:

MsiGetProductInfo failed to retrieve ProductVersion for package with Product Code = '{A2122A9C-A699-4365-ADF8-68FEAC125D61}'. Error code: 1605..

I don't know why microsoft hasn't issued a fix for this problem, I see on the forums of alot of people having the same issues that I am having, but for me I don't understand everything that they are saying on these forums, so that is why I am asking now.

Thanks for any info that you can give thanks!!!

sql server 2008 r2 install does not create database engine, also mmc creates error "Failed to create

I am loading sql server 2008 r2 developer edition into Windows Vista Home Basic. Product loads correctly with no error messages; except will not create database engine. And will not create integration services. When I try to open MMC, I will get error "MMC could not initialize the snap-in. Product may not have been installed correctly."

I understand this is a known issue for SQL Server 2008 RD installing on Windows Vista? What is the workaround or fix? Hot fixes available for this issue from support.microsoft.com do not install on my Windows Vista Home Basic machine.

How to install SQL Server 2008 with SuperSocketNetLib error?

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 on my computer, which runs on Windows 7 (64-bit) Home premium.  I already installed VS 2010 SP1.  But now I get many errors related to registry keys.  How do I check the errors?

These were the errors I found listed inthe file at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20110519_033147\:

Error: Action "SniServerConfigAction_Install_atConfigNonRC_Cpu64" failed during execution.

Error: Action "SqlBrowserConfigEngAction_install_ConfigNonRC_Cpu64" failed during execution.

Error: Action "SqlEngineDowngradeDLLConfigAction_install_confignonrc_Cpu64" failed during execution.

Error: Action "SqlEngineConfigAction_install_confignonrc_Cpu64" failed during execution.

Error: Action "SLP_SQL_Dumper_install_postmsi_Cpu64" failed during execution.

And many more of these same types of errors.

It does create an icon for me for SSMS.  But when I click on this it opens up the SSMS browser like normal, but will not connect to my default MSSQLSERVER.  How can I fix this?

Server 2008 R2 -> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error mess

So I am using the aspnet_regiis.exe tool to encrypt sections of the web.config in my asp.net applications and services.  I have done this for years successfully on Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6).  However I just moved some apps over to Windows Server 2008 R2 (with IIS 7.5) and I am now receiving the following error at runtime:

"Server was unable to process request. ---> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: Bad Data."

Now I am quite familiar with this process and am stumped at what I have missed this time around.  I have done ALL of the following which typically suffices for the process on the server. PLEASE READ ALL AND DO NOT PROVIDE RESPONSES OR LINKS FOR THINGS I HAVE ALREADY DONE Thanks!!  Wink

  1. Imported the keys to the server using aspnet_regiis -pi  Result: Success
  2. Given FULL permission (using -full switch) using aspnet_regiis -pa to ALL of the following accounts  Result: Success

I tried from local and remote computer too but gives the same error both side. I am not sure but I am just thinking is this double hop kerberos security issue? Please help me to solve this problem. SQL Server Network Interfaces Error 26 - while failing over SQL Server 2008 R2

Before I explain the issue I am facing, I would like to say that I did read the post at  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2007/05/13/sql-network-interfaces-error-26-error-locating-server-instance-specified.aspx but in my case the problem is transient (lasts for approximately two minutes after a failover) so items 1-3 in the list of troubleshooting steps do not seem to make sense. As to 4 and 5, the named instances use non-default ports (2433 and 3433 respectively), so I do not know how to tailor the PortQry command for that. I tried  portqry.exe -n ServerA,2433-p UDP -e 1434 and  portqry.exe -n ServerA,2433 -p UDP -e 2434 and it failed both times with a "Failed to resolve name to IP address" while the server was up and serving database requests The same thing happened when I tried it with the failover server as well. ***The issue I am facing*** I am using Enterprise Library 4.1 to connect to a SQL Server 2008 R2 database with a mirror. My connection string itself is as below (with dummy values for all fields): "Data Source=ServerA;Failover Partner=ServerB;Initial Catalog=DBName;User ID=uid;Password=pwd;Connect Timeout=5" Sample .NET code is as below (with modifications to instantiate all variables locally to provide context): SqlDatabase db = new SqlDatabase(ConnectionString); SqlConnection cn = (SqlConnection)db

SQL Server 2008 installation fails There was an error generating the XML document. Error code 0x84B

Error code 0x84B10001." I uninstall the SQL server again to remove the files which were created from Unsuccessful installation I removed the register entry as suggested by this forum. reinstalled but no chance, I have tried all the option which I can get know in web.
