Window 7 Sql 2008

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Windows 7 Professional 64bit 2.45Ghz processor 4GB ram I am trying to complete a tutorial on ASP.NET on Lynda.com but they are using old versions and I cannot match up illustrations.  I have MS SQL server 2005 & 2008 with VS 2010 Express installed on my machine.  My question is where can I find a tutorial that will correspond with the setup I have configured on my computer as this is the way it came out of the box.  I am really excited to learn ASP.net.  I am intermediate skill level at HTML & CSS  I have limited exposure to Java Script C# PHP and MySQl  I have WAMP And Xamp installed on my machine.  I just have to find the tutorials lessons that are current with Windows 7 installation as I see it now MSSQL install and configuration seems to be WAY MORE complicated than WAMP Server that we used with PHP.  But I want to learn ASP.NET  Even the W3C school appears to be behind on the Windows 7 issues.   Please correct me where I have erred and steer me in the right direction.   Much Thanks in Advance, MIKE E"It's like déjà vu all over again." - Yogi Berra

Is PAE sufficient for SQL 2005 on Window 2008 32 bit

Hi, Environment: Windows 2008 32 bit, SQL 2005 with SP3 32 bit Standard edition, 24 GB RAM Need some clarification please. I know that using AWE - SQL Server can access more RAM than 4 GB using locked pages for caching etc. I also know the fact that for more than 16 GB of RAM usage the combination of PAE and AWE are required. However my question is related to PAE: a) If only PAE is enabled - Will SQL Server 2005 use more memory than 4 GB? b) From Control Panel - System - I see 24 GB of RAM and this is an indication that PAE is enabled. Is that correct? Or is there any other way to check if PAE is enabled on the system. c) From SQL Server Properties - I can see that SQL Server minimum and maximum memory are editable and one can change  the minimum and maximum RAM. However AWE is not enabled at this time. Will SQL use the amount or RAM specified in min and max Example: say 6 GB min and 10 GB max? If it will not use the >4GB memory specified (assuming PAE is enabled but AWE is NOT enabled)  then why are those two controls editable? C# connect SQL server 2008 window authentication on workgroup

We have an application winform C# that connects to sql server 2008 with window authentication impersonation.
We need window authentication because of filestream requirement (we did not find other solution).

The application works fine in domain environnement. Our msi create same user on each computer and we use it to access to remote database.

But a lot of our customer are littre company (1 to 10 employees), they are in workgroup configuration, it is impossible to migrate them on domain environment.

We tried to impersonate but it doesn't works in workgroups :

public void Impersonate(string userName, string domainName, string password, LogonType logonType, LogonProvider logonProvider)
   IntPtr logonToken = IntPtr.Zero;
   IntPtr logonTokenDuplicate = IntPtr.Zero;
	// revert to the application pool identity, saving the identity of the current requestor
	_wic = WindowsIdentity.Impersonate(IntPtr.Zero);
	// do logon & impersonate
	if (Win32NativeMethods.LogonUser(userName,
		ref logonToken) != 0)
	 if (Win32NativeMethods.DuplicateToken(logonToken, (int)ImpersonationLevel.SecurityImpersonation, ref logonTokenDuplicate) != 0)
	  var wi = new WindowsIdentity(logonTokenDuplicate);

Is it possible to have only 2 network adapters for 5 SharePoint web applications with 2008 R2 Window

Hi All,

I have an existing 2003 R2 SharePoint 2007 farm, and have set up a 2008 R2 SharePoint 2010 farm that we are going to move to through a database attach upgrade. I've got two web front ends on both farms. The 2003 farm has been working great with NLB for a couple of years now.

Issue: I've got five web applications on SharePoint that must be load balanced. I can only have 4 Network adapters due to limitations with the number of adapters and VMWare. This worked fine in the 2003 farm, as I just had one adapter dedicated to the machine itself and the other dedicated to the 5 NLB applications (I just added additional IPs to the one net adapter through advanced TCP/IP properties).

Should this work on the 2008 R2 farm? Necessarily when you add additional IPs to the net adapter through advanced TCP/IP you can no longer work with NLB through the NLB interface--you must add the NLB IP to each of the front ends through advanced TCP/IP and then ensure that the web app on IIS on each front end is associated with that NLB IP.

I've been testing--and it does seem to be working, but kind of slow.

Max files in a single WSS 3.0 Database (SBS 2008 Server - Window Internal DB)

This site appears to indicate that the max documents per database is 32,767 :

This seems extremely small to me. Is that an accurate number? We have a customer with 300,000 documents and about 30 users. Is this going to be too much for a single DB?

Window 7 allowed me to install the SQL Server 2008 express only as a "domain Administrator".

I could not installed it with any other admin account including Loacal Administrator. Is there any UAC problem with widow 7/SQL server 2008.

The same problem i faced when i was installing "Sql 2008 R2 standard" on window 2008 Server.

Can onyone respond to this ?
