Cannot drop a "orphan" user because it does not exist

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I have a user identified as a orphan user that I cannot drop.  The user is not listed in the Logins folder or the Users folder for the database but when I query the database with select * from sysusers where name = '\xyz' it returns a row.  I get the following error when I try to DROP USER [\xyz]; OR exec sp_revokedbaccess '[\xyz]'.  Any ideas?  Msg 15151, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Cannot drop the user '\xyz', because it does not exist or you do not have permission

Hey guys,

I've got a literal control to display the username of the user logged into our companies intranet system, originally I had a LoginName control but couldn't get strip to remove the domain from the username (as the format is domainname\username) so I'm trying it this way.

    protected void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
        string[] Parts = User.Identity.Name.Split("\\");

        if (Parts.Length == 2)
            loginName.Text = Parts[1];
            loginName.Text = User.Identity.Name;

    protected void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
        string[] Parts = User.Identity.Name.Split("\\");

SQL Express 2008 install error 84B40000 "The Windows account somain/user does not exist and cannot b

Full reported error

StdOut -2068578304: The following error occurred:
The Windows account doman\user does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator
Error result: -2068578304
Result facility code: 1204
Result error code: 0

domain/user is a domain administrator and also a local administrator and is the currently logged in user.  This failure is happening as part of A Citrix XenApp 6.0 configuration which was started as an Administrator

A Google search for
"The Windows account" "does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator"
Came up with absolutely nothing.

A Google search for -2068578304 failed to find anything, which did not surprise me.

-2068578304 translates into hex as 84B40000.

A Google search for 84B40000

Comes up with a fair few different textual descriptions with the same error code, which I am wading through.

Any help would be welcome.  I am also asking my friends at Citrix.

With thanks in advance.

The user does not exist or is not unique

We have just used the following link to update our object cache user accounts and after IISRESET we are now getting the above message, and are unable to access our intranet site.

We created two new AD accounts with minimal network privileges, as these would be defined within the Central Admin, as either Full Control or Full Read.

Has anyone else updated their Cache Users and did they have a similar problem, did they create new AD accounts for this or use existing ones?

Quick turn around would be nice, how can I tell what setting has been made within powershell for the portalsuperuseraccount and portalsuperreaderaccount.

calendar - incoming email error - The user does not exist or is not unique..

I am sending calendar appointments to a sharepoint calendar.  It works fine if i send from my exchange email on the domain.  However if i try to send from outlook, which has a gmail (live account same error) account off network, the mail comes to the drop folder on my incoming email sharepoint server but then i get this error:

An error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail file C:\inetpub\mailroot\Drop\4ab7332801cb38a6000000c7.eml. The error was: The user does not exist or is not unique..

next error is

The Incoming E-Mail service has completed a batch.  The elapsed time was 00:00:00.0625004.  The service processed 1 message(s) in total.  Errors occurred processing 1 message(s): Message ID: <000001cb38a5$00a4f100$01eed300$@com>

external users can just find send email and documents to other document libraries but this calendar is giving me problems.

Cannot drop a login because the user is logged on

I want to be able to drop a login forcefully even if the login is currently logged on, its a SQL login. I have tried setting the database offline and online but that does not seem to do the trick, the way I do this is to restart the SQL service, but this often require logging onto the server to do this, I was wondering whether there are other options other than restarting the service.

If I disable the login, the login is still connected because the connection persists from the application unless SQL is restarted or unless the application is restarted.

Any ideas ?

can not drop user from database

 I can not delete user from a database in sql2005 beta 3.
the message errror is :

The database principal owns a schema and cannot be dropped. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15138)

in sql 2000 I can delete the user very easy, but in sql 2005 I don't understant How to do it.

Either the xxx user does not have permission to access the yyy object, or the object does not exist.

Following examples from Wiley's DM with MS SQL Server 2008 book. Have created a mining model I am not able to train. Up to do point where I use openquery to try to train it, everything goes smoothly. When openquery is run, I get the message: Either the xxx user does not have permission to access the yyy object, or the object does not exist. Obviously, the object exists and I as a db owner should be able to access it. Have double and tripplechecked logins/roles/permissions but have no clue what could be the showstopper.
I am stuck with this issue for some time and would highly appreciate any help to move forward. Have exhausted my ideas and have not been able to find applicable resolution to my problem by querying forums.
Thanks in advance.

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

Choosing Between a User Control or Web Part for SharePoint

SharePoint will only display Web Parts on a page. However, there are publicly available shims that allow you to write user controls and have them be displayed as a Web Part. From SharePoint's point of view, the shim is a Web Part. From the point of view of the user control, the shim is simply a control in .NET that is including the user control

Creating Sites/Lists/List Items under Current User Context in SharePoint By Using SPUserToken

Usually we do this by performing the action under RunWithElevatedPrivileges method and updating the listitem using SPListItem.SystemUpdate() method (see here). but this approach has its own flaws like (RunWithElevatedPrivileges will run under system account, we cannot use SystemUpdate for SPSite,SPWeb,SPList, since it runs under system we will "CreatedBy" by as SystemAccount).
