extracting last four characters of a text column and storing it in a number column

is there a way to do the above, for example...I have a text column, Column A containing "172671-08-7892", I need 7892 to be extracted to another column of the type number, from there I need to divide by 2. If the remainder is 0, Column C will be updated as Female, if the remainde is 1, Column C will be updated as Male

Formating Text using Regex

Hello Everyone,   I have extracted some text from HTML pages & writing it to a Text file. Text is scrambled everywhere in the file after saving.   in the output text there some new line , tabs etc ... is there any way to remove them ? using Regex ?? text i am getting after extraction :- ( checked using Debug ) Pradeep \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t    \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t      G\r\n                               \r\n                                 \r\n                                \r\n                                State College \r\n                                 \r\n

Approach using Regex in TSQL text manipulation

Hi there I have this following data: 0297144600-4799               0297485500-5599 The 0297485500-5599 based on observation always on position 31 char from the left which this is an easy approach. But I would like to do is to anticipate just in case the data is like this below which means the position is no longer valid: 0297144600-4799      0297485500-5599      0297485600-5699 As you can see, I guess the first approach will the split by 1 blank space (" ") but due to number of space is unknown (varies) how do I take this approach then? Is there any method to find the space in between and shrink into 1 blank space (" "). I am exploring Regex not sure how to do this and what I can think of is that if the blank is space can somehow reduce from xxx to 1 and I can handle this the rest. Thanks dewacorp.alliances

Retrieving a number from a comboBox value including number and text

Hi, I am using C# and trying to retrieve a number from a value in a comboBox that contains both numbers and text.  I am modifying what is in the comboBox using the following format which is working fine ("130mm Corus-Comflor 46" is a value already loaded into the comboBox):   this .floorComboBox.Text = "130mm Corus-Comflor 46" ;   This line of code is changing what is in the comboBox and from what is written in the combo box, I would like to be able to retrieve just the first number '130' from the newly updated comboBox so that I can use it elsewhere.  I am not sure how to go about this and I have looked online for something similar, but with no luck. Best regards, Mike

Wierd case of: Msg 213, Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition

Hi, I'm working on several triggers (that happen after insert or update) in order to log the changes in a different table. They all follow a similar syntax and are working fine, except for this one... I've reduced the next code to the minimum that gives an error, so we can safely assume the other parts of the trigger are working fine. INSERT INTO [Adt].[WardUnitStayLog] SELECT t.* FROM [Adt].[WardUnitStay] t INNER JOIN inserted i ON i.[Id] = t.[Id]; I've used this same syntax (but on different tables) in other triggers, and these are working perfectly fine. The above query provides the next error: Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition. I've checked both tables for differences in the columns, but to no avail... (I've checked them manually and by outerjoining the information_schema.columns) (I've also checked the order in wich these columns are defined, they match over the two tables) These are the creation scripts for the tables: CREATE TABLE [Adt].[WardUnitStay] ( [Id] [dbo].[Id] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [UnifiedUnitStayId] [dbo].[Id] NOT NULL, [WardCd] [dbo].[Cd] NOT NULL, [_FirstAtTm] [dbo].[Dtm] NOT NULL, [_IsReservation] BIT NOT NULL, [_LastAtTm] [dbo].[Dtm] NOT NULL, [_LastBedCd] [dbo].[Cd] NULL, [_LastPhysicianUid]

Convert from Number to Text- Exporting to Excel from SQL Reporting services 2000

I was trying to export a report which contains a number format. When I do that, all the numbers in excel will have a green small tag beside it saying "Convert from Number to Text". Is there anyway that I can change the format to a number when I export it to excel?

Problem extracting the middle characters of a text string

I need to extract a portion of text from one field and put it in another field and I am having trouble with the syntex.  I am doing this with an sql select statement in asp.net.

I can select the left most characters of the field (SELECT  BatchNumber, LEFT(BatchNumber, 3) AS Expr1 FROM  DonorHistory) or the right most characters of the field (SELECT BatchNumber, RIGHT(BatchNumber, 3) AS Expr1 FROM DonorHistory) but I cannot select characters from the middle of the field.  I expected that to be able to use a statements such as "SELECT BatchNumber, mid(BatchNumber, 3, 2) AS Expr1 FROM DonorHistory" but this statement gives me an error.  I also tried using middle in place of mid but that did not work either.

What am I doing wrong?

extracting text

Regex: password must contain one number, one letter, and 0 or more special chars

I'm trying to validate a password, and I'm almost there, but need some help finishing it off. Here's what I need:

1) 6-10 characters

2) At least one alpha AND one number

3) The following special chars are allowed (0 or more): !@#$%

Here's what I have:

Passwords that should work: test1ng, abc123, abc1234567, 123abc, abc!123, !@#$%1abcd, !@#$%a9

Passwords that shouldn't work: a, 1, a1, 1$, %, abc!@#, 012345, a1234+, abcde, test*ng, abcde!, !@#$%!, a1234567890, testit!0987, 1abcdefghij

It works on all my test cases, except it allows "a1234567890", "testit!0987", and "1abcdefghij", none of which should be allowed, since they contain more than 10 chars. What am I missing?

Regex match a number between 100 and 200 and no letters

what is the "." for in a phone number regex?

      string phone = "973 555-7241";
      string pat = @"^\d{3}[- .]?\d{3}[- .]?\d{4}$";
      Match rv = Regex.Match(phone, pat);

What does the "." in the section "[- .]" of the above regex pattern mean?

I understand "." to mean 'any char but newline". Square brackets contain a set of chars, any of which can match the current character. [ -] means "either space char or dash char".  I read "[- .]" to mean any of "dash, space or any char other than new line".  But something like 973x555-1212 does not match the regex.

SSRS 2005 report export to excel - show text as number

When exports the report to excel, some columns are numbers(something like 00125987). We need these columns to be text,  but excel convert these columns in numbers and in result we received not "00125987" but "125987".

How to fix that?

We need all these columns to be text.
