Newbie-Can I remove older version of .NET Framework

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
Hey,Got different versions on my Windows XP; 1.12.0 Service Pack 22.0 SP 2 - Language Pack3.0 SP 23.0 SP 2 - Language Pack3.5 SP 11- For obvious reasons these take a lot of space, can I remove any of them and which?  2- Are they a built up or separate?  3- If I can only use the latest 3.5 SP1;  is there a language pack with it?4- I have not been able to update anything for over a year.  It keeps telling me, Windows has some new installs for me but won't download properly.  Sorry I can't tell you the specific error it gives me, but I believe it has to do with a previous version as it is related to a Service Pack 2.  Sorry I know it's vague, but it takes for ever before I get the error message.  If you can't give me any idea, I'll try it again and post more info.In the meantime I'd appreciate any help you people can give me.Sunshine

supportedRuntime version in config for .Net Framework 3.5

We have an application built on .Net Framework 2.0 using VS2005. Now we would like to support .Net Framework 3.5 using VS.Net 2005 without upgrading to VS 2008( I read online at many places that this can be done without upgrading to VS2008).Out app.exe.config file looks like this currently:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <startup>  <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/> </startup></configuration>Should we need to modify this to support .Net Framework 3.5? If Yes what should it look like.FYI - We are having .Net Framework SP1I am bit confused with .Net Framework version and Runtime Version. Please clarify.

How can you tell which version of Net Framework is installed?

How can you tell which versions of Net Framework are installed on the computer. Can you tell from add/remove programs in the control panel? Thanks!

Regarding .Net framework version and Visual Studio version

Problem with ASP.NET Ajax, Framework version 4.0 and the SeaMonkey browser...

I have a site that I'm upgrading to the 4.0 framework and I've come across an issue with asp.net ajax and the SeaMonkey browser. It seems like the script manager is not registering the scripts on the page in seamonkey (but it works fine in IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari). Now, if I change the user agent string in SeaMonkey to use the user agent string from any of those other browsers, it works fine. So I guess my question is does ASP.NET Ajax check the browser's user agent to determine what scripts to register and, if so, is it possible that SeaMonkey is not included in the list in the 4.0 framework (I should add that it's working fine in the 3.5 framework so it seems to me like this is a difference between the two framework versions).

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366)

protection against older version uploads

(using SQL Server 2005) I just changed some things in my SQL server database.  This will require an update to the user program that uploads and downloads from the database, but I am starting to wonder about protecting the database against uploads from old program versions.  Theoretically everyone should be using the latest program version, but if they aren't then there is a possibility they could upload data to the database with routines that no longer should be used.  Is there a standard way to protect against out-of-date upload routines?

Problem Installing .Net Framework Version 4.0

I am trying to install .net 4 on my Vista business machine SP2. It however continually fails with "class not registered" error. No matter what i try and do i cannot get it to install. Has anyone come across this error before, was there a resolution? I need this to be able to install VS2010 on my machine.   Thankyou

Unrecognized attribute RequirePermission, not because of incorrect framework version in IIS...

So I have been struggling with this error for a while and normally i get around it by removing the attribute and all is good, not quite simple this time. Based on my research on this error, this is usually caused by incorrect .net version selected in IIS but for me this is usually not the case.  For the app i am working on, it is a 4.0 app, the asp.net version in IIS is set to 4.0, and the error is caused by the RequirePermission attribute in the 4.0 machine.config.  Since it is calling the 4.0 machine.config, that only tells me the version is set correctly.  So what is wrong, why is it not recognized? I have tried removing all the requirePermission attributes in the machine.config, then something else is not recognized, I believe it was the configProtectedData section.  Endless error messages.  It seems to be happening only on one machine.  I did try uninstalling and reinstalling 4.0 and it didnt help, very frustrated!!! Suggestion any one? Thanks in advance!

Windows 7 message at start up:microsoft.net framework version 2.0 is required to continue

Installing .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable and .NET framework 2.0

I am trying to install .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable or .NET framework 2.0 packages, but both of them are sending an error. My OS is Windows 7 with 64-bit. Version 1.1 says it can't be installed due to incompatibility and version 2.0 rejects 64-bit OS.

I am keen on installing especially these packages in order to run EditVoicePack for Flight Simluator 2004. Is there any options I can install it or it simply doesn't work with Windows7 64-bit system?

Older version of database - Baffled!

I've installed all the 3.5 cabs, pointing to the latest SqlServerCE.dll, still can't open a connectiong to a SQL Compact Database. I'm using VS 2008, I can open a SqlCE 3.0 DB but not 3.5. I keep getting

"You are trying to access an older version of a SQL Server Everywhere database. If this is a SQL Server CE 1.0 or 2.0 database, run upgrade.exe. If this is a SQL Server Everywhere 3.0 database, run Compact / Repair. [ Db version = 3505053,Requested version = 3004180,File name = ---\DB.sdf ].

I'm able to open the sdf from the device Query Analyser, just dunno, what's going on -- Any ideas would be very helpful!

Thank you,
