SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?

My environment:

window 2003

iis 6

.net framework 4.0

Should a call back method always be used when working with smtp?

I read about a call back method that was used with some code for an smtp client.  Should callback methods always be used to verify delivery and get status codes when working with smtp relays and clients?

Sharepoint - Webpart doesnt deploy - stsadm reports deployment 'successful'

Hi,

MOSS 2007 :)

I am having problems deploying a webpart..
This webpart was successfully installed and deployed on a similar environment with no problems. However when trying to deploy it in its intended site it's having some strange problems..

1. I installed the webpart to the server (through stsadm) - return message "Operation completed successfully."
2. I deployed the webpart to the intended site - return message "Operation completed successfully."
3. I performed an IIS reset and navigated to the 'site features' area to find no trace of the webpart to activate.

I ran the 'stsadm -o enumsolutions' command to view the solutions that are deployed, and I see my webpart here:

  <Solution Name="solutionname.wsp">
  <Id>ID-here</Id

SSIS 2K5 - Deploy package with C# - Really Slow

Hi,

For a DataWareHouse project, I did an WIX  install manager to Create à DataWareHouse, Deploy SSIS package and Deploy a OLAP cube.

When It come to deploy (load) dtsx package, it takes about 40-60 secondes to load each package (I have around 50 packages so its really too long)

This is the code i'm using :

	    DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo(session["INSTALLLOCATION"] + @"Sources");
        FileInfo[] rgFiles = di.GetFiles("*.dtsx");
        Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();
        foreach (FileInfo fi in rgFiles)
        {
          string pkg = session["INSTALLLOCATION"] + @"Sources\" + fi.Name + "";
 		 Package p = app.LoadPackage(pkg, null); //THIS TAKE 40-60 SECONDE TO EXECUTE

Automating Deployment with Microsoft Web Deploy

This is the twenty-eighth in a series of blog posts I'm doing on the VS 2010 and .NET 4 release. This blog post continues a series of posts I'm doing that cover the new improvements we made around web deployment.  In my first post in the deployment series I provided an overview of the new VS 2010 Web Deployment features. In today's post I'm going to be discussing Microsoft Web Deploy - which is a free server technology that enables a comprehensive publishing and deployment mechanism.  Web Deploy enables you to not only publish files - but also provision database schema/data, run database change scripts, set security ACLs, and more.  All of these deployment steps can be automated using Visual Studio. This post will provide a step...(read more)

dtutil won't deploy my package, "error 0xc0011008 loading from XML"

My package runs fine on the dev server with remote database.  SSMS deploys it to the msdb on the remote server, no problem, and it runs there with no problem.

But when I try to use dtutil from the command line to deploy it from a local .dtsx file to the remote server, I get the following message:

Microsoft (R) SQL Server SSIS Package Utilities

Version 9.00.1399.06 for 32-bit

Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2004. All rights reserved.

Could not load package "foo.dtsx" because of error 0xC0011008.

Description: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.

Source:

Dev system is using Visual Studio 2008 and BI Studio R2, database server is SQl 2008 but not R2.

I don't think that matters.

What might matter is that I have embedded spaces in the file names and package names - just renaming the file didn't seem to help, I think I'll try renaming the package, for lack of any better idea to try.

Or, could it be a 32bit/64bit thing?  I'm not sure who is 32bit and who is 64bits, actually.

Help!??!

Thanks.

Josh

SSIS 2K5 - Deploy SSIS Package with C# - Error File cannot be found

Hi,

I made a installer program in C# that deploy ssis package on a SQL server 2005. I have like 50 package that contain only dataflow to update a datawarehouse and create fact tables.

I made also one package that call all the other packages. When I try to deploy the packages on the SQL server with the command SaveToDtsServer, I receive an error BUT only on the package calling all the other SSIS package ?? All the other SSIS packages are deployed but the package that call other packages failed to deploy. Whats strange is that when I use the domain controler to deploy the package (I use Impersonation in my C# code) its all working fine, but if I use another user (like the computer admin account), I got the error only on the package calling other packages ???

Can anyone help me on that ? I really don't know whats happening ?

The error that i have is : The file can't be found. But like I said, when using the domain controler user for impersonation, its working ???

 try

   {

    imp = new Impersonation(session["DBMASTER"], session["DBMASTER_PWD"]);

SMTP Suddenly stopped working

Using VS 2003, VB.net, Netframework 1.4, Windows XP

I have been using this snippet in several programs for umpteen years:

Try

Message.Body = "Mail Test"

Message.To = "My E-Mail Address"

Message.From = "Sender's E-Mail Address"

Message.Subject = "Hi"

SmtpMail.SmtpServer.Insert(0, "127.0.0.1 or your mail server name here")

SmtpMail.Send(Message)

Catch ex As Exception

MsgBox(ex.ToString)

End

I've got the same error as those who opened this thread, but I'm looking for the cause of this error rather than deleting the solution file from SP2010 Server over and over again.

I was developing and deploying with VS2010 and SP2010 Enterprise Edition just fine for over three month now and out of nothing this error pops up again and again for the same solution. I can't tell what I've changed or which software I might have installed in the meantime, so I can't give any hints what causes the errormessage. Which might be interesting: I installed my SP2010 Enterprise Edition in english and installed the german language pack afterwards. Kind regards, Andreas

Installing a certificate in the Commit() of a setup/deployment project not working

I'm trying to create a deployment project for a client application that uses certificates for WCF. I've followed this

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d9k65z2d.aspx

and I can get that to work, but when I add in my own code to install the certificates it does not work.

Here is the code I've have:

public override void Commit(IDictionary savedState)
{
	base.Commit(savedState);
	System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("http://www.google.com");
	Console.WriteLine("Test");
	try
	{
		Console.WriteLine("Installing certificates...");

Creating Deployment Package for RDL & Data Driven Subcription Setting

Hi,

I've created a ASP.Net web application which have reports. The reports using SSRS, rdl files and using report viewer control to show the report from our webpage.

I must deliver the application using Installer (Deployment Package), it is easy for ASP.NET to create deployment package.
But how about the Report Server Project (RDL), how I create the deployment package for that? and if I've data driven subscription setting for some reports, how can I include those too in my deployment package.

I don't want to deploy it manually one by one to Production Server.

Any advice?
