Create user account for web authentication from non-web/local application

Hi, I have an application which is installed on local pc and is using SQL db. It is a client management system where I want to add capability to register new clients and give them access to my web site which is sharing the same SQL database with local application. At the moment clients can register on the web site and I have ASP.NET authorisation system set up with aspnetdb_user, aspnetdb_membership and etc tables. But sometimes it happens that I need to register clients on my local application on PC and ideally would like that registration to create online account for the client as well. Then I want to be able to send him user id and password by email and let him know that he has been registered in my database and online account is ready for him as well. Basically I want to have full synchronization between asp.net membership service and local application through SQL db. As I said both online and local apps are shareing the same SQL database. I would like to know if it is possible at all and what would be the best practice to implement it. Thank you.

Creating local user account in Sharepoint 2010

I need to create a few account in Sharepoint 2010 that don't belong to the active directory import. I have logged on to the Sharepoint server and created the accounts and expected them to appear when I went to Site Settings and then people and groups and searched for the account names.

I did the same in 2007 and these still appear as the machinename/username.

Is there something I don't know about?

Editting user name in information for local user account?

I've added some users to my SharePoint Foundation site from the local machine.  The site is not on a domain.

The name displayed for users is always the user's account name in the form [COMPUTER\AccountName] instead of the full name that has been set up for them in the system.

Is there a way to change this through SharePoint somewhere?

SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services - Can't Authenticate with local windows account

No matter What I do, I can't seem to authenticate to SSRS using a local windows account unless that account is a member of administrators. Is there some sort of special role that local users need to be a member of to authenticate properly?

When I attempt to access reporting services, am prompted with a login window asking for login as password. If is use a local admin account it works fine, if I use a local user account, it prompts me again two times and then just shows a blank page.

  • I've tried adding the local non-admin user account to all of the SQLServer groups but no luck.
  • I've tried deleting and creating a new local user account with the same group membership as above, but no luck.
  • Secure messages via MSMQ queue when using local system and local user accounts

I am trying to send a message to a WCF service via a private MSMQ queue.  With security turned off, there's no problem.  With security turned on and using a normal user account (one registered with the Active Directory) to send messages, there's no problem.  However, if I use either the local system account or a local user account, it fails.

If I use a local user account it fails with the message:

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.MsmqException: An error occurred while sending to the queue: Unrecognized error -1072824272 (0xc00e0030).Ensure that MSMQ is installed and running. If you are sending to a local queue, ensure the queue exists with the required access mode and authorization.

If I use the local system account, no exception is thrown, but nothing is delivered to the service, and the queue remains empty.

Both "Everyone" and SYSTEM have permissions to "Get Properties", "Get Permissions" and "Send Message" as regards the private queue.

I am thinking there must be an issue with the queue failing to authenticate the users in the Active Directory, but given it's a private queue, I didn't think it would do that?

I seem to be having the same problems as a previous

SQL 2005/2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2 cluster - Service only starts when account is local admin

I have a single node Windows Server 2008 R2 cluster configured with SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition installed as a clustered instance.

I am having an issue where the SQL Server service will only start using TCP/IP when the service account is a member of the local admins group. To get SQL to install I had to add the sql server service account to the local admins group.

I have configured group policy with the permissions required for SQL Server 2008 and this is correctly applied to the node.

What is the best way to create user account for big group of people?

I need to create individual account for a big group of people (around 200) from an Excel spreadsheet. What is the best practice? It will take too much time to create account using web form. I think there must be a way to do it. Please advice. I tried to use Stored procedures created by ASP.NET. NOT SURE whether it is a good idea.

    User Account Corrupted

I'm having this problem for quite sometime now. I'm using SQL Express for my DB.

First i thought it's because of Web Server 2003 so i migrated to 2008 but it did'nt solve the problem.

Some of my users suddenly cannot login anymore not All were affected and almost same user

encounter account corruption. My solution right now is to delete their account and create a new one.

I dont know if it's how they use the web service or something wrong with the browser.

My plan right now is to create a new "ASPNETDB" if i cant find any solution.

Hope some can asist me if in case you have already encountered this. Also thought that maybe

because i'm using SQL Express MS intended to do this to force me to buy licensed version.

BTW, normally i only have 20 users accessing Web at the same time.

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local appl

    Hello everybody.I am working on Login control and I am new in ASP.NET. So far what I did is :1. In Website->ASP.NET Configuration I change the form authentication to internet.2. I created a user profile3. This gave me a ASPNETDB.mdf database.4. I added this code :<connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer" /> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings> in web.config file.4. I added login control to my login page :<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Login.aspx.cs" Inherits="Login" Title="Untitled Page" %><asp:Content ID="MainContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContentPlaceHolder" Runat="Server"> <h1>Please Login</h1> <asp:Login ID="LoginAuth" runat="server" > </asp:Login></asp:Content> 5. And the login.aspx.cs file has :using System;using System.Collections;using System.Configuration;using System.Data;using System.Linq;using System.Web;using System.Web.Security;using System.Web.UI;using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;using System.W

User Profile Service account Write to AD Permissions

I followed this guide here (http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups.aspx) to provision the UPS service in sharepoint 2010. I found the guide very helpful and informative. Everything is working correctly except for the write back to AD I've followed the steps and have assigned the listed permissions to the UPS service account, however I still get permissiong errors in the FIM GUI Our AD is running in a 2008 environment but is in 2003 mode, so I made sure to add the UPS account to Pre Windows 2000 Compatible access built in group and restart the server so that the new group settings would take affect. Do I need to reprovision the UPS service or something? Or am I missing something completely. (Hopefully the latter lol!) Thanks RKB

How to check if a given user is local admin or not

Hi, How to check if a user (may be domain user also) is part of local administrators group or not? Note I am NOT talking about checking of current logged in user. I should send the username & passowrd of any user (may or may not be domain user) & that should flag me whether that user is local admin or not. Please help.
