Web Deployment with IIS settings of remote server

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Im trying to deploy a web application project (VS 2010) via team build (TFS 2010), i got to use IIS settings of development server for deployment. So from the project properties I configured the web projects to use Custom web server, (enabled radio button), once i do this the Option in the tab Package/Publish Web "Include all IIS Settings as configured in IIS manager" gets disabled and as a result the deployed web project does not have this IIS settings.

What am I missing here, Im not using the option "Use local IIS Web Server" because the build happens in a build server and would try to take local IIS settings for packaging which is not present.

If this is not possible, suggest me any workaround. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Event receiver deployment on remote server

I have created an EventReceiver using visual studio 2010. Tested on test server and it works ok.

Now I have tried to deploy to production server. Created package.wsp and deployed on the site.

I might add that I can see in the Central Administration / Solution Management that solution is deployed.

After that I have activated feature. All went OK. But the custom validation in the receiver does not work. It looks like its not deployed well.

Is there enything that should be done to activate EventReceiver on remote server?

Problem with deployment on remote server with Web Deployment Tool 2.0

I'm trying to deploy my WCF service with Web Deployment Tool 2.0. I'm setting up my build in Visual Studio 2010 with a post build event like this:

if "$(ConfigurationName)" == "Release" "$(TargetDir)_PublishedWebsites\Host_Package\Host.deploy.cmd" /Y /M:https://<myserver>:8172/MSDeploy.axd /U:<username> /P:<password>

When building and deploying I get an errormessage like:

The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

The certificate on the remote server is indeed invalid in that sense that it is not signed. I think I need a command that says AllowUntrustedCertificated=true or

something like that. Does anyone have any ideas?

Active Server Pages+: ASP+ Improves Web App Deployment, Scalability, Security, and Reliability

ASP has been rebuilt from the ground up. The result? Active Server Pages+. ASP+, with a host of new features, provides for easier to write, cleaner code that's simple to reuse and share. ASP+ boosts performance and scalability by offering access to complied languages; development is more intuitive thanks to Web Forms; and an object-oriented foundation facilitates reuse. Other important features include page events, Web Controls, and caching. Server Controls and improvements in data binding are also new with ASP+. Libraries for use with ASP+, and the Microsoft .NET Framework which allows custom business functions to be exposed over the Web, provide more new development opportunities.

Using Remote Data Access with SQL Server CE 2.0

Microsoft SQL Server CE edition is the database server built by Microsoft to run on mobile devices. Besides being a standalone database for mobile applications, SQL Server CE also allows you to connect to your desktop SQL Server 2000 and perform remote data access and merge replication. In this article, you will learn how to build a .NET Compact Framework mobile application using Visual Studio .NET 2003 and how it can perform remote data access using SQL Server CE 2.0.

For more information on .NET Compact Framework, see my previous article, "Developing Pocket PC Apps with SQL Server CE."

Accessing file on remote server

I need help to achieve the following.
I have integrated the Single Sign On to my webapplication. Service Provider(SP) is developing in .net platform and windows server.Identity Provider (IdP) is configured in apache and linux server.
For authentication I am redirecting the user to IdP and authenticate at IdP and return back to my .net website. So I have user's database in IdP as a db file user.db (see the apache configuration below) for authenticating user.

Proxy failed to create remote object on the server

Hi, I am using .net remoting for inter-process communication between two processes on the same machine 1.   The first process is one of the Office application: Ecxel /   Word /   PP 2.   The other process is another application that interacts with one of the above. For that it needs office application object. For example: Excel The solution is comprised with 3 projects: Project #1: The remote object is a simple Called RemoteOfficeApplication – that simply wraps the required application object (Word / Excel / PP).   Project #2: The Server is a simple Office add-in, written with a Visual Studio Extensibility -> Shared project. This add-in is instantiated whenever Excel is lunched. This project reference project #1. Code: var channel = new TcpChannel (5003); ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel, true ); RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType( typeof (RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication ), “AppObj”, WellKnownObjectMode .Singleton);   Project #3: The Client is the process that requires the application object. This project also reference project #1. Code:   //Get Remote object proxy object remoteAppObject = Activator.GetObject(typeof(RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication), “tcp://localhost:5003/AppObj" ); //Cast the proxy var r

Remote access to SQL-Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 denied

Hello, after successful installation of SQLServer 2008 R2 and providing my account as a 'sysadmin' I failed to access the server from a management studio of a SQL-Server 2005 release installation. The TCP/IP access is enabled and the server is configured to allow access from remote connections.  The error message reads a follows: ' A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify ... (Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2)' Accessing the SQL-Server by the management studio from the local host works fine but trying to acces by command line using the '-E' parameter fails. Is there any additional configuration on the operation system level needed to open a SQL-Server 2008 instance to be selected by other members of  domain groups from the non-local host? Thank you for the answer

SQL server compact deployment help

I have a very simple windows desktop app I am trying to deploy using windows installer. I also have a SQL Server compact database file or (Local Database). When I deploy the app and try installing it on my test computer, I get an error saying the database was not found and then it displays the connection string that was set originally in Visual Studio. The application runs but all the database in not there. I don't understand why there is even a connection string there if the database in embedded in the application. Which is one of the benefits of SQL Server  Compact. What should change the connection string to?? Anyone have experience using SQl Server Compact for Win Forms?

calling a web service on a remote server from an ASPX page

hi, I want to call a web service on a remote server. I've done "add web reference" in my project, and VS2005 has created the .discomap and .WSDL in the App_Web_Reference folder. When I try add the namespace representing the web server (the name I created when I added the web reference) by "using XXXXX;" the code does not compile because XXXXX is not defined. Have I missed any steps? thanks, -me

calling a web service on a remote server from a ASPX page (web site project VS2005)

HI,I am maintaining a web site project in VS2005 and have to call a new web service on a remote server. I've done add web reference, and created the .wsdl and .discomap files in the app_webReference folder.  When I try to create a object representing the web service in the code ( wsnamespace.serviceName ws = new wsnamespce.serviceName(); ) the code wouldn't compile. The web site project is already calling other web services. When I right click on the type representing the web service and "go to definition" it takes me to a proxy class (derived from of course SoapHttpClientProtocol) in the metadata. I think this is what's missing for  the new web service i'm trying to call. Have I missed any steps? Thanks in advance.-me

The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).

Hi.   I have read the other threads regarding this but they do not solve my problem. All i am trying to do is upload a file from the webserver onto another server via FTP. But i get the above error and am at my wits end as to why.   below is the code:   Dim fs As New FileStream("H:\Visual Studio 2005\Websites\Website1\testfile.txt", FileMode.Open) Dim filecontents(fs.Length) As Byte fs.Read(filecontents, 0, fs.Length)   Dim remotePath As String = "ftp://elonwactd.uk.ml.com/apps/files/IPBHVGTRADE/QA5/in/testfile.txt" Dim ftp As FtpWebRequest = FtpWebRequest.Create(remotePath) ftp.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("user1", "passwd1") ftp.KeepAlive = False ftp.UseBinary = True   ' (have tried UploadFile as well instead of UploadFileWithUniqueName) ftp.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.UploadFileWithUniqueName     fs.Close()   ftp.GetRequestStream.Write(filecontents, 0, filecontents.Length) ftp.GetRequestStream.Close() ftp.GetResponse.Close()     Below is the stack trace that i get. [WebException: The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).]   System.Net.FtpWebRequest.SyncRequestCallback(Object obj) +321   System.Net.FtpWebRequest.RequestCallback(Object obj) +19   System.Net.CommandStream.Abort(Exception e) +163   System.Net.FtpWebRequest.FinishRequestStage(RequestStage stage) +45

SSIS Deployment Reads local Environment Variable and not Server

Hi All, I have an SSIS package that uses an Environment variable to hold the connection string for the local SSISConfiguration table.  This works properly on my local machine.  However, when I import the package to Integration Services(through SSMS) it reads the environment variable from the local machine and not the server it is deployed to.  If I log on to the server remotely and do the same process it uses the the correct environment varible... (SQL Server 2005) Is there a way to deploy the package to the server and get it to use the correct Env variable without having to log-in to the server and import it?  Let me know if anyone is looking for additional information.   Thanks!

Solution deployment requires executing execadmsvcjobs command on search server to complete deploymen

We have multiple Sharepoint 2007 farms and deploy custom code weekly to the farms. On one o the farms it is required to run stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs on the Search server in the farm in order for solution deployments to complete deploying. These are solution recycles that we are running. This is the only farm this happens on and all farms are identical. In central admin it shows the solution state as deploying. Remote Connection to SQL Server 2008

Hi everyone,    I'm allowing remote connections, have started the SQL Server Browser, and have the TCP/IP protocol enabled for my server instance, but I still can't connect to my SQL server remotely.   I have my router forwarding to the local IP for it when using port 1433 and it works when I put the router ip with 1433 locally, but it gives me an error when I try this remotely. It throws a timeout error, so it isn't even reaching it.   Any suggestions?
