using a database field as a hyperlink query?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I have three tables in my sql database contactssurvey answersrespondent_initialContacts holds all customer data with custid. survey answers has assigned everyone how took the survey a number in a field called respondent_no.respondent_initial holds input from a webform where I populated it with the custid from contacts and respondent_no from survey answers before the webform input is inserted. I want to send an email to them that had there respondent_no in a hyperlink to the webform so that when they entered their data into the webform it would use the repondent_no to determine where to insert the form data.Example joe clicks http://www.myplace.com/order.aspx?23             Mike clicks http://www.myplace.com/order.aspx?125it would look up respondent_no (23) from the respondent_initial table and insert the data in that row in the database for joe's webform entry and it would look up respondent_no (125) from the respondent_initial table and insert the data in that row in the database for mike's webform entry.my code behind looks like this// Create command                comm = new SqlCommand("INSERT INTO respondent_inital (Practice_Name, Address1, Address2, City, State, Zipcode, Phone, Email, Contact, Dealer, item_9223, item_9129, item

How to query a datetime field in access database using ASP.NET

I am using an Access database with one of the Table columns defined as Date/Time field.

I am trying to use ASP.NET 4.0 Web forms application to query and retrieve the row based on the DateTime field.

Here is my code snippet:

      string connectionString = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["AccessDB"].ConnectionString;

      OleDbConnection oleDBConn = new OleDbConnection(connectionString);

      DateTime dt = new DateTime(dtBatchCreation.Year, dtBatchCreation.Month, dtBatchCreation.Day, dtBatchCreation.Hour, dtBatchCreation.Minute, dtBatchCreation.Second);

      //string sql = "SELECT [BatchID] FROM [Batch] WHERE [BatchCreationDate] = " + String.Format("{0:#yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss tt#}", dt);
      string sql = "SELECT [BatchID] FROM [Batch] WHERE [BatchCreationDate] = @BatchDate";

      string s = @String.Format("{0:yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss}", dt);

      OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand(sql, oleDBConn);

      //cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@BatchDate", s);

Business Data List web part, format field from database as hyperlink

I have a BDC with an entity that selects fields from a table. One of the fields is the full pathname to a file, or it could be a hyperlink.
When I display the entity in a Business Data List Web Part, all fields are displayed as text, without any formatting. I know the formatting can be modified using the XSL editor (under modify web part), I have found a sample with date-time format . Some basic formatting can also be done with de sharePoint designer, but nowhere have I found an example that allows me to format the column with the link as a clickable hyperlink.
My strong points are sql server and .net , but not XSL , can anyone give me an example of how th eformatting needs to be done in XSL?

tnx in advance

HyperLink Field Value: RowCommand

Hello. I am accessing the ID field in my GridView RowCommand event (this works fine)... Field method missing with LINQ query

But I could not find the method with my table object.  Eventhoguh i forcibly write a method and trying to access the fields, It is giving the below error for the first join in query. Rest of the lines are fine. What is the reason behind it. The errro: "Error 2 'LINQ2DB.SP_VS_OP' does not contain a definition for 'Field' and the best extension method overload 'System.Data.DataRowExtensions.Field<T>(System.Data.DataRow, string)' has some invalid arguments" What is the meaningof the error. Shall i do any other changes in the query line?                         var QueryChnl = from oSPOP in SPOP.AsEnumerable()                        join oDiscChannel in DiscChannel.AsEnumerable() on oSPOP.Field<int>("spid") equals oDiscChannel.Field<int>("SPID")                        join oChannel in Channel.AsEnumerable() on oDiscChannel.Field<in

Calculated column and hyperlink field type

Hi I have customer who is asking me if this is possible to provide filter based on the HyperLink field, where he could easly limit results to only those items where link field is filled. As filtering on hyperlink column type is not supported I was thinking to buld some calculated field based on it to return YES (if link is provided) or NO (if link is not provided). The problem is that hyperlink field type is not avialiable on the list of field to be used on calculated field. is there some workaround for that ? thanks for help   Mariusz Gorzoch Blog : http://mariusz.gorzoch.pl Twitter : http://twitter.com/MariuszGorzoch Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/mariusz.gorzoch

Slow performance when searching in "any part of field" of a SQL Server database using a Microsoft Ac

We have just migrated our back end database from Access to MS SQL Server 2008 R2. We have noticed better performance on our searches - unless we select to search in "any part of field" in Access (with Access' built-in search function - we use a mix of Access 2003 and 2007). This takes nearly 20 seconds to find the result, whereas before the migration it was taking 5-7 seconds (compared to instant results we now experience when searching for whole fields). The main fields we search are not large - usually just two words. Obviously it is better to search for a whole or start of a field, but this is not always possible. The contractor that assisted us in this project has told us that this "is just the way SQL works with Access". Is this really true? I find it hard to believe two MS products would have such a big issue between them. I presumed using SQL with an Access front end would be a common setup, which is why I thought this must be a problem with our setup. Is there any way to fix this speed issue?

How to extend this query to write the results back to a database?

FOr this query I have four tables I would like to access. SELECT StockA, SUM(Score) AS Total FROM dbo.ScoresNew_LongPrice WHERE [When] >= @StartTime AND [When] < @EndTime GROUP BY StockA ORDER BY SUM(Score) DESC _LongPrice, _ShortPrice, _LongVolume, _ShortVolume I would like to improve the above query to return not just the results from LongPrice, but four columns, of sum(score), from each table, if possible. And, if that is possible, I would also like to have the query then update another table with its results.  Not a new table, but just updated to an existing table. Anyway, I can do some stuff in T-SQL but this seems over my head.  Any help would be appreciated. (The four tables all have identical structures)

Set value of field in NewItem form through hyperlink

Here is my scenario. We're using SharePoint for project management, so I have a List of tasks that needs to be performed and another list containing elements for when people have worked on the tasks. That is, whenever a person has spent some hours on a task he must add an element to the second list specifying when he did the work, who did the work, how long he worked on it and which task he worked on. In a scenario where there are alot of tasks on the Tasklist it becomes very tedious to find the task in a dropdown menu on the NewItem form of the second list. Therefore I would like to add a column to the TaskList containing a link for each task so that when you click Task1's link you will be directed to the NewItem form of the second list with the Task field in the NewItem form set to Task1. My original idea was to use the url of the NewItem form to specify the value of one of it's fields such as: http://server/sites/site/list/NewItem.aspx?TaskField=Task1 If that makes any sense. But I haven't been able to find any way to do this. Does anyone have any idea of how I can make a link in the TaskList to redirect me to the NewItem form of the second list with a field value set based upon which link is clicked? /Michael

This work in the execution, but just passing the date values as aaaa/mm/dd.On my page when a pass two DateTime Parameters from two TextBox it throw "Unable to recognize the string as a valid DateTime Value"I'm using Ajax Calendar exterder on the textbox to be more specific.Here, (My Country)  the format i'm using es dd/mm/aaaaAnd when i select the datepicker it comes in this format, and then a get the DateTime error type.I can get the rows in the query builder just passing the date like "2010/01/15" and "2010/01/30" for example.Hay can i force the texbox to get this format aaaa/mm/dd?regards
