Unknown server tag 'ajaxToolkit:RoundedCornersExtender'.

Uber Atlas newbie here:I downloaded and installed Atlas 1.0 Beta, and then opened my VS 2005 and created a new Atlas Ajax Website Project. Scriptmanager, and update panel work as expected with no page refreshes. I wanted to add a rounded button to my page to i tried:                    <ajaxToolkit:RoundedCornersExtender ID="rce" runat="server" TargetControlID="bGeneral" Radius="6" />                    <asp:Button Font-Size="8pt" id="bGeneral" text="General" runat="server" />as I had seen in an example somewhere else. I got an error ( Unknown server tag 'ajaxToolkit:RoundedCornersExtender'.) So I did some searching and tried asp:, and atlas: and ajax: - no good still have errors. Then I found from searching this forum that I need to reference a .dll in my web projects Bin folder 'Microsoft.Web.Atlas.dll'  I did a search of my hard drive and found no such .dll - so naturaly I searched for what it is that I need to go get to install this .dll - I was pointed to the june CTP and the November CTP by more searches, and when I DL'ed those and tried to install I was told that a newer version was already installed (my guess is the 1.0 Beta)  - So - here i am - what am i d

Unknown server tag error even after assembly registration

Hey guys,

I don't know what is going on. When I try to add a tab container in my page, it allows me to do that but when I modify the code, the unknown server tag error pops up in the design view of the page.

I checked the source code to see if I had my @register clause in there, and it was there, but still the error shows. I don't know what happened, the last time it worked perfectly.

I have also recently downloaded the cute editor for .net and installed the .dlls to my bin folder and it is showing the same simtoms as well.

Had any1 encountered this problem before and if so how did you fix it?

Thanks,

Zeph

Error When Joining Reporting Server to Farm: "Task configdb has failed with an unknown exception" an

This is apparently a very common error message, as I see numerous posts about it on these forums.  Unfortunately, none of the solutions have worked for me.  So I'm hoping somebody knows what is happening in my case.

CURRENT FARM (all in same domain):

Server Web3, Windows Server 2003 R2 (x86) <- WFE, WSS 3.0, SP2
Server Web4, Windows Server 2003 R2 (x86) <- WFE, WSS 3.0, SP2 (also Central Admin host)
Server SQL2, Windows Server 2003 R2 (x64) <- Database server for WSS installation (SQL 2008)
Server SQL5, Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) <- New reporting server (SQL 2008), WSS 3.0 SP2 - unjoined from farm

- Reporting server database is configured in Sharepoint integrated mode.
- All WSS servers are at SP2.  I have double, triple, and quadruple checked this.  Build on all three servers is 12.0.6425.1000 (as retrieved from Add/Remove Programs and Programs and Features, respectively.)
- No additional hotfixes were applied after SP2.

When trying to join my new server (SQL5) to the existing farm using the configuration wizard, I get the following error...

10/11/2010 19:21:16  8  ERR                      Task configdb has failed with an unknown exception

Unknown server tag - controls not rendering in visual studio 2010 design surface

I added a visual web part item to my solution.  I'm looking to drag some controls on to the design surface from the toolbox but they're not there.  For example, linqdatasource control and datapager control.  I tried to create them in the markup up but all I get is 'cannot render control' or 'unknown server tag.'

At the top of my .ascx file I have:

<%@ Assembly Name="$SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$" %>

<%@ Assembly Name="Microsoft.Web.CommandUI, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>

SQL Server Setup Failure Unknown Property

Our development team is trying to install SQL 2008 R2 from the original MSDN .ISO file and when they attempt to install any of the following components

  • Integration Services
  • Management Tools - Basic
  • Management Tools - Complete
  • Microsoft Sync Framework

They receive the following error

TITLE: SQL Server Setup failure.
------------------------------

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

Unknown property.
.

------------------------------
BUTTONS:

OK
------------------------------

I need a little guidance locating some log files that might help me understand why these components are failing.  During the install process, all the pre-requisite checks pass.

Unknown server tag error

We have a really big web project (about 5000 files total for site) which i'd like to try to convert to web application.

The problem is, that some of custom controls are in App_Code directory, and to reference them at the pages developers used:

<%

@ Register Assembly="__code" Namespace="Tagzilla.Web.UI.WebControls" TagPrefix="uc" %>

Of course after converting - this doesn't work. I tryed to replace it with

<%@ Register  Namespace="Tagzilla.Web.UI.WebControls" TagPrefix="uc" %>

(Thinking that now the namespace should be correctly seen from page class)

but i still get "Generation of designer file failed:Unknown server tag

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Making Ajax Callbacks to the Server Using jQuery with ASP.NET

In the first part of this article series I introduced jQuery's functionality and how it provides a rich client side programming model. This time around I'll expand on these concepts and show you how you can use jQuery in combination with ASP.NET using it as an AJAX backend to retrieve data. I'll also discuss how you can create ASP.NET controls and otherwise interact with jQuery content from ASP.NET pages in WebForms.

jQuery is just a JavaScript library so it will work seamlessly with ASP.NET both from page code as well as through backend driven code using the Page.ClientScript object or ScriptManager. You can use jQuery on its own as a client side and Ajax library that communicates with ASP.NET or you can use jQuery in combination with ASP.NET AJAX. The two actually complement each other quite well as jQuery provides functionality that the ASP.NET AJAX library does not and vice versa. For the most part the interaction between the two libraries is trouble free except for a few very rare edge cases.

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

If you ever wanted to restore your database from a SQL backup file (.bak), but there are still users connected to your database, the backup operation will fail causing the error: Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use.

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.

Publishing SQL Server Database using Publishing Wizard : Tips & Tricks

We can use SQL Server Publishing Wizard to deploy our local Database to remote hosting server/production server. This feature is available in SQL Server 2008/VWD 2008.

Below is the complete step by step guide of this process.

CLR Integration With Microsoft SQL Server

Transact-SQL provides as much flexibility as possible but, because it is not a real programming language, it has some shortcomings about many issues (memory management, exception handling, debugging, file processing (or streaming), object-orientation (classes), or thread management). Transact-SQL also lacks features of normal libraries (arrays, collections, serialization, expressions, or string manipulations, etc).

IP Address Blocking or Restriction in SQL Server

"is it possible to block connections to SQL Server based on IP address". As far as now there is no official way in SQL Server to block the connections in SQL Server based on IP address. However this can be done from the OS end, we have the following three options available, refer HERE for more.

.Firewall
.IPSec
.RRAS IP Filter
