Install SQL Server 2008 x64 The INSTANCESHAREDWOWDIR command line value is not valid

My objective is to install SQL 2008 x64 on a brand new server running under Windows 2008.
VS 2008 and .NET 3.5 are installed and work fine.

I performed the following steps:

1.    Downloaded SQLFULL_X64_ENU.EXE from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/bb851668.aspx
2.    Unpacked;
3.    run setup.exe as admin
4.    on SQL Server Installation Center: Installation | click "New SQL Server stand-alone"
5.    I didn't change the installation folder (grayed anyway)
6.    Followed the instructions. I selected Database Engine Services

I get the error message "The INSTANCESHAREDWOWDIR command line value is not valid".

I then tried to install with command prompt, with identical results:
For command prompt install I used the following bat file:

c:\users\public\downloads\mssql2008\setup.exe ^
-/Action=Install ^

I also tried to use setup100 (including the parameter /Timestamp) but I get the error message "the timestamp must be set before its first use".

Specify Instance Port Number on Command Line Install

Is there a way to specify which port we want our named SQL Express instance to run on during a command line install with no interaction from the user?  If not, is there a way we can change the dynamic port selected after the install without any user interaction?Nick's Programming Tips

Driving install of standard web install project from command-line

I have a VS project (web service) for which I created a standard VS Web Setup project.  That project creates the typical setup.exe and project.msi files.  When run interactively, the setup prompts the user to select an IIS Site, a Virtual directory and the Application Pool.  I'd like to drive this setup silently from a script, passing the necessary args on the command-line such that the user isn't prompted.  I've played some with the args in an attempt to set those three prompts using properties, but without luck. Can anyone tell me if there are public properies on the MSI that would allow me to set those prompts via the command-line?

Can't install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition x64 from Command Line

I can't get R2 Express (x64) installed from the command line... x86 using this same command line works fine, just x64 is broken.

Using this:

Everytime it fails with:

2010-09-19 15:30:48 Slp: --SafeSqlCommand: ALTER DATABASE tempdb SET NEW_BROKER ALTER DATABASE msdb SET NEW_BROKER

Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). sql command line

i have a problm about mysql command line;it is desapeared at once when i enter the password to my sql command line how is that happening?

run-time error's do not jump to problem line but to assembly with some xml error.

Used too, when there was a runtime error the ide would break at the line that caused the problem. Now I'm thrown into some assembly code with the error System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException was unhandled   Message='The invocation of the constructor on type 'Main.MainWindow' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception.' Line number '4' and line   Which is extremely uninformative and inefficient. I can look down the chain to find the error thrown but this still is not very informative. How the heck can I get it back to the way it used to be? This has something to do with wpf and the assembly code has System.Windows.Markup.XamlReader.RewrapException as the address. I spend anywhere from 10x to 10000x as long because of this. If the code is simple then I still have to read the error code and click a button which takes time.   Also, I'd rather it break on the line and quit the process as it used to do. I don't need JIT debugging.

Office 2010 Web Applications Install Error

We have a SharePoint 2010 Server setup in a farm configuration with a SQL 2008R2 clustered back-end that we are attempting to install Office Web Applications on.  We are following the technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_ins_exis_farm.  When we attempt to install the Office Web Applications on the SharePoint 2010 server (logged in as a member of the Administrators/farm admins) the progress bar completes and then displays the error "Microsoft Office Web Apps encountered an error during setup".  Looking through the Wac Server Setup.log file that setup generates doesn't yield much or any clues as to what is failing (it's lengthy and appears to just be detailing applications of a variety of languages installing and then rolling back).  The event logs are also filled with messages about the various Web Apps installing in a variety of languages and then rolling back when setup fails.  The only MsiInstaller event in the event logs that looks of any consequence is: "Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Microsoft Office Web Apps Application Server Components. Product Version: 14.0.4763.1000. Product Language: 0. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: 1603." Does anyone have any experience with this issue or any suggestions/guidance?

2005 Install Error - SQLBROWSERACCOUNT

Hello experts - I am trying an ATTENDED install of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition, on Windows 2003 sp2, nd receive the following: TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup ------------------------------   SQL Server Setup has determined that the following account properties are not specified:  'SQLBROWSERACCOUNT' . The properties specify the startup account for the services that are installed. To proceed, refer to the template.ini and set the properties to valid account names. If you are specifying a windows user account, you must also specify the password for the account.   For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=20476&ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.4035.00&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=28006&EvtType=sqlca%5csqlguica.cpp%40SetUnattendedSvcAccountProp%40SetUnattendedSvcAccountProp%40x6d66   ------------------------------ BUTTONS:   OK ------------------------------ If you click ok, it terminates the install.  My understanding is termplate.ini is for silent, unattended installs.  What's going oin? I have tried so many times but failed to install SQL 2005 Developer version on my XP machine. Got the 29513 error. I then switched to SQL 2008 R2 Developer version and got the MOF syntax error. I'm new SQL Server and need some help fixing this problem. I'm not sure what version of the SQL 2005 version it is. I downloaded it from MSDN Subcriber Download page. Any help to fix this problem would be appreciated. Got a project that needs to use Sql Server ASAP.
