Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi folks, about 1,5 months ago I have set up a - 1 server - development environment for PS2007. I had installed all components on one Windows 2008 box. Everything worked fine, now I receive an error. •MOSS 2007 •SQL 2008 SP1 •MOPS 2007 SP2 I have done the additional installation for the cube building part according to this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285466(office.12).aspx Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (sqlncli.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (sqlserver2005_xmo.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backwards Compatibility Components (SQLServer2005_BC.msi) Everything worked fine. Cubes were able to be built.. everything was good. In order to have Reports built I added SSRS 2008 Reporting Services Addin for MOSS (rsSharePoint_x64) Business Intelligence Development Studio (=Visual Studio for MSSQL) No CUs have been added to this box. NOW, Cube creation fails with the error: ULS LOG: [CBS] ProjectServerOlapCubeGenerator status: Analysis Services session failed with the following error: Failed to connect to the Analysis Services server <IPADDRESS>. Error: ActiveX component can't create object 08efbc13-299a-4abe-9021-c46887ca6915 Eventlog says: SSP Name: SharedServices1 PSError: CBSASConnectionFailure (17003) Cube build failed to connect to the Analysis Services server. Many thanks cdbc81

KB955706 failed to install on Microsoft SQL Server 2005

I downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005.  During the completion of the installation, there was a Hotfix.exe error that said "A recently applied update, KB955706, failed to install.  Also, a message pops up to reboot the computer.  Does this mean that the Service Pack 3 installation was unsuccessful?  How do I fix this?

Setup failed to install the required component Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMLBIZ)

I Don't understand what this means: Everytime I try and install the disc 2 of my Office Small Business 2007, it gives the same message.  Help.

SQL Server 2005 64bit Install - Missing Management Studio

Good Afternoon,

I just installed SQL Server 2005 64bit on a fresh system with no other applications loaded on running on the new server.

The only other component that was installed with the SS2K5 database services is SSIS. The base installation and the SP2 patch went on perfect.

I went looking for the Management Studio thru the Start menu options and it is NOT under the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 group. The only options under the SS2K5 group are "Configuration Tools" and "Docs and Tutorials".

Here are file names that I downloaded from the MS website and installed.

   SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #1 x64 MLF.x11-57796 (which is a zipped)

   SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x64-ENU

There was also another zipped file that I tried to install but it seems to be a duplicate of the zipped file above:

SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #2 x64 MLF.x11-57797

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks ALL!

Install failed for SQL Server Management Objects

Hi,

I am trying to install SQL Server Management Objects on a server which has MSXML6.0 and ReportingServices Add-in for Sharepoint, but the installation is failing saying higher version is already exists on the machine.

But when I could not find the SMO assemblies (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll) on the  server.

What could be the problem? Is SMO collection installed by another component other than SQL Server? Where can i find the SMO assemblies on my server.

Thanks,
Sujanakar Reddy

Unable to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

I am not a techie but have been unable to install the update above.  I don't know how to look at registry keys, etc.  Is there an easy fix to this problem?  Does it really matter if this update is installed?

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) wont install

I know this problem has been encountred by many others, but I have not seen a solution yet.  There must be a simple way to fix it. If not I will stick with Apple.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) wont install

1. I have tried the installation mutiple times with the same result.

2. I have tried a manual installation that also failed.

3. I have a windows XP with all the latest updates except this one.

4. If you have a solution please give detailed infomation on the fix so I can follow a known procedure to fix the problem.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) will not install no matter what

This is what I've been trying to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) for three days now. I have followed directions from the Microsoft web site and from the few who responded - nothing has worked. The last question I received yesterday was a response from asked if this is what I had: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/express.aspx

However, I'm not sure; therefore, I am listing what I do have. I don't know if anything listed below connects to that web address or not or even where to go to find it.

What I have on the computer is: Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (ENU) ,Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, Microsoft SQL Server Set Up Support Files (English),Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer. Therefore, I am wondering that since I don't downloaded any other Service Pack is why this one refuses to install. Thanks for your help and please put responses in plain English - not a computer wiz.

Data Points: SQL Server Management Objects

SQL Server Management Objects offer developers a robust toolset for backing up and restoring databases, and issuing DDL commands, as John Papa explains.

MSDN Magazine June 2007

SQL Server and DMO: Distributed Management Objects Enable Easy Task Automation

SQL Server can be administered programmatically using system stored procedures, but Distributed Management Objects (DMO) offer a more modern, object-oriented alternative. This article introduces SQL-DMO in SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Server 2000 and describes the SQL-DMO object model, then focuses primarily on the Databases tree and the JobServer tree of the object model. The sample code and the article show how to use various objects such as the Registry object, the Configuration object, and the Database object to automate common administration tasks such as programmatically retrieving configuration settings, creating new databases, applying T-SQL scripts, and creating and scheduling backups.
