SSRS Subscription Defaults

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi, We use SSRS 2008 for many of our reporting needs, and it is set up in Sharepoint Integration mode.  If you click on "Manage Subscriptions" --> "Add Subscription" --> "Configure" under the "Delivery Event" option and change the frequency to "Month", the default is to send the report on all months on calendar days 1, 3, 4, and 5.  Is it possible to change this default so that it will just populate "calendar days" with 1, instead of 1,3-5? This gets a bit annoying because many of our users set up their own subscriptions and fly right through the screens, keeping the defaults... Then they get the same report on day 1, 3, 4, and 5, and only want to receive it once.  Thanks.

Is Conditional Subscription possible in SSRS 2005?

Hi Guys,

Is there a way to set up a subscription that will send e-mails based on the contents of a report? For example, I want to schedule a daily subscription that will only send an e-mail if the report contains data, otherwise it will do nothing for that day. i.e If the report has more than one row, it should send the mail otherwise it should not send the mail.....

Is it possible in SSRS 2005 or is there any other way to do it???

SSRS integrated mode email subscription to AD dist group

I have MOSS 2007 running SQL 2008 SSRS integrated mode and have created some reports and report subscriptions. Everything is working great. Now I want to use an Active Directory Distribution Group as a recipient for a report subscription - does not work, however the "last results" show no error. Try again using Dist Group in TO: field but adding regular email in CC: field...only email in CC field receive report, again all successful. Does SSRS integrated mode support AD distribution groups? if so is there any special setup required? Thanks LmmMmmm...yummy...

using SSRS Windows File Share subscription to send file to sharepoint

Hello, I'm looking for the simplest way to automate sending SSRS reports to a Sharepoint document directory.  I know a document library is not a real directory but I am able to run copy scripts into one using the virtual path thats shown when I do Actions-> Open in Windows Explorer. However when I set up a subscription to send a report to this directory, I get an error: Failure writing file \\intranet\projects\docs\test.pdf : The network name cannot be found.  Just checking if anyone knows if this should be able to work or not. Thanks

Multivalued parameter & Data driven subscription for SSRS 2005

I need to create data driven subscription for our reports. Most our reports have multi valued parameters (7-12 parameters with at least 4-5 with multiple values)and need to be send to a users between the range of 25-200. So standard subscription is really not a choice.I have gone through most of the threads before. Question 1:Does any one have a solution for the SSRS 2005 regarding passing mutiple values for a parameter for the Data subscription table. If yes, could you please share the information. Question 2:I found some solutions using the SOAP API. Can any one explain that in detail- how we can do it ?Reference:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/8ab615b4-1373-4258-bf49-c2843cfea8e9/http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=516735&SiteID=1 Question 3:Here is the other solution I found in one of the postsApparently passing in values like {A, B, C} only works when you configure the parameter values not to come from a dataset so that SSRS doesnt check for ValidValues.Reference: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/b2c50aea-2032-4025-a155-306c00fcb856/Any commends about this solution? Thanks

SSRS Subscription Management: Restart, Stop, View Status, update properties, etc

As SSRS admins, there are times when a user comes to us and ask: I didn't get my reported emailed to me today?or worst, a report subscription going to multiple people doesn't run and now you have lots of people missing their subscription - (suppose server crashed, or something happened). One idea of course would be to have the subscription owner re-schedule it to run now, or create a new -- but - i'm thinking - we should create a subscription adminstration tool.a .net app that queries the ssrs web service, gets a list of subscriptions in the ssrs system (or perhaps by folder) and then is able to 'restart a subscription', "stop a running one", 'view all subscription status, schedule, owner, etc' if I wanted to d this - what is the web service that I could use this for?and most importanly - has anybody dont anything like this that they can share?this is for ssrs 2005 & and I'm hoping 2008 can be called through the same .net app tool

Setting Title on SSRS (SharePoint Integrated Mode) subscription.

I have some subscriptions in SSRS where the report goes directly to a Document Library on Sharepoint.  The subscription works fine, however, I would like to have the Title of the report be the current date that the report is run.  Is there a way to put a formula such as =[today] in the Title field of the File Options section on the Subscription properties?  I have tried this but either it is not possible or I am not using the correct syntax.  Thanks, Tim Olig

SSRS Integrated: Program Subscription Building?

We have a few hundred clients, and we need to run a daily sql report for each of them. Saved in a document library, they can be picked up by the Search. I'd like to avoid the manual work of setting up 200+ report subscriptions. What would be the recommended route?1) Work with the sql 2008 object model?2) Work with the MOSS object model? (I see no class methods available for this - is this even possible?)3) Work directly with either the report server database or the sharepoint database and with ado.net just loop through a set of insert statements, one for each client we want a report for? Thanks for any input/direction.markusMarlin7

SQL 2005 - SSRS - timeout on Subscription Creation

SSRS failing when we are trying to create the subscription with a "timeout" failure.  The report runs when run normally, and we have created subscriptions of this report on other computers.  We have adjusted the timeout value to a very long time.  The error message returned is:   The operation has timed out (System.Web.Services)   ------------------------------ Program Location:      at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request)    at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient.RSClientConnection.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request)    at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2005.ReportingService2005.GetReportParameters(String Report, String HistoryID, Boolean ForRendering, ParameterValue[] Values, DataSourceCredentials[] Credentials)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2005.RSConnection.GetReportParameters(String Report, String HistoryID, Boolean ForRendering, ParameterValue[] Values, DataSourceCredentials[] Credentials)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient.RSClientConnection.GetReportParameters(String report, String

SSRS Subscription Error (rsInvalidDataSourceCredentialSetting)

I just started using SSRS using SQL Server 2005. I've created several reports and have deployed these reports so they are available to use in Report Manager. I started playing around with subscriptions hoping to automate and schedule printouts for my end-users. I am trying to subscribe to this one report and have filled in the necessary fields in the subscription page but after getting everything filled in, when I hit OK, I get the ff msg - "The current action cannot be completed because the user data source credentials that are required to execute this report are not stored in the report server database. (rsInvalidDataSourceCredentialSetting)". I've looked this up online and found a Microsoft Technet page on changing the setting of the data source I'm using and is as follows -

1.Go to the Data Sources properties page of the report that you want to automate.
2.For the Connect Using option, select Credentials stored securely in the report server.
3.In User Name and Password, type credentials that can be used to access the database. If you are using SQL Server as the data source, the user name must be valid for both logging on to the server and for accessing the database that contains the data for the report.
4.If the user name and password are credential

SSRS data driven subscription with varying schedule

I've created a report hosted on SQL Server Reporting Services 2005. I know how to use the Reporting Services Web Services Class Library to create a timed subscription, so that a user can receive the report automatically every day.

Now I need to extend this to deliver the report to hundreds of users. That seems like an application for data driven subscriptions. I haven't worked with data driven subscriptions before. Here's what I'd like to know:

Within a single data driven subscription, can each recipient receive the report ON A DIFFERENT SCHEDULE? For example, user "A" wants to receive it every Tuesday at 9:00 AM, while user "B" wants it every day at 6:00 PM.

Thanks for your help.

SSRS 2005 Standard - Subscription to email distribution list?

I am delivering SSRS 2005 reports via email subscription. I would like to utilize distribution lists. However, we do not have an exchange server. Is there a way to create distribution lists on the server that can then be accessed through SSRS Standard?

SSRS 2008 - email subscription - 7 minute delay between two reports emailed out (normally less than

We have a report subscription that emails out through a 3rd / separate smtp server.

I was watching the progress on the report server subscription page (where it shows executing, x of y completed, 0 errors) and noticed a long pause between updates about half way through the subscription.

It sends out around 500 emails and email 475 of 500 was still on screen after a few minutes (it hadn't ticket up to 476, or 479, etc...)

SSRS 2008 R2 After using SSL, In Report Manager new datasource link, upload file link, subscription

I have provided my setting and environment information below. My goal is to set Report Manager and Report Server URL with SSL connection so all URLs uses HTTPS (Secure connection) all the time. and remove HTTP access .

I applied following settings for this but I am getting errors. With Current Settings that I mensioned below, I am able to login into WebService URL successfully with all links working. For Report Manager URL  I logged in successfully but for some pages I am getting HTTP links instead HTTPS. It shows HTTP links for new datasource link, upload file link, subscription links so it shows blank page

I tried to look for solution and I applied but did not worked. I did some experiment with changing urls using application and manually from RSReportServer.config file but still not succedded.

Steps taken to solve problem:

  • To force to use HTTPS only, I tried to change SecureConnectionLevel = 0 to  1,2 or 3 but when accessing to Report Manager it gives 401 Authentication error.
  • If I remove http://+:80/ReportServer and tried to visit 2nd URL with HTTPS. The Web Service URL opens successfully. but Report Manager url gives me er

Pass delivery method, email address to create SSRS subscription using VS2005

I have created SSRS reports and built a user UI to run these reports. Now when creating SSRS subscriptions in report Manager, is it even possible to programmatically pass the delivery method (email or file share), To email address, scheduled time and date, etc from my front-end UI to the Report Manager?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Regarding the Subscription of SSRS reports from the Sharepoint Portal.

At present, I am having some SSRS reports hosted on share point portal and For one report, I am subscribing thorugh manage subscription by mentioning the dropdown values (The Selections which are required for the report) as parameters. So that, I am going get a mail for the report for the selection which I made from the report.

Now The Issue is, for every combination I should need to select the parameters and need to subscribe for that. Is it possible to mention all the selection crieteria at once and run it in one shot?

Can we write any backgroud job to complete all the selection criterias at once?

Please help me on this.

Thank you!!

SSRS 2005 Email Address Disappears when Editing Subscription

I have users that are editing their own SSRS E-Mail Subscriptions.  When they choose "Email" from the Delivered By combo box and type in a e-mail address it disappears after they set a schedule using the "Select Schedule" button and.

Any ideas?

SSRS 2005 - Failure sending mail in e-mail subscription

I added a new TimedSubscription to a report.  However when the report ran, it hit an error.  The Status text was as follows.

Failure sending mail: The permissions granted to user 'domain\user1' are insufficient for performing this operation.

(assuming domain\user1 was my account)

I have the Content Manager role to the report and its folder.  I could run the report interactively with no issues.  This particular report does not require any parameters.

The odd thing was this only happened when I selected "Include Report".  If I selected only "Include Link" it would be fine.

To troubleshoot, I changed my role to System Administrator in Report Manager and re-tried.  The same result was observed.  However after I added my user account, domain\user1, to the local Administrators group, the problem went away!

What rights (in SSRS, local server, folder, etc) does a user need to have in order for the e-mail subscription with file inclusion to work?

The systems involved are as follows.

Windows Server 2003 (SP2)
Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition, 9.00.4053.00
