Sharepoint calendars connected to outlook, keep asking for passwords

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
We have sharepoint 2010 ent installed and have a bunch of shared calendars on it for our users.  We are able to successfully connect the calendars to outlook 2010, but everytime outlook is launched it asks, at least once, for a username and password to connect to the sharepoint server(but it brings up the IP address of the sharepoint server, not the URL).  NTLM authentication is enabled on the sharepoint server and if I go to the sharepoint url, it picks up on my username.  We had sharepoint services 3.0 installed previously and using shared calendars, it didn't do this.  Any thoughts?

SharePoint list connected to outlook is not trusted because of certification error

in our environment users have several SharePoint (WSS 3.0) contact lists, calendars etc. connected with Outlook 2007. But each time they start Outlook it gives them a certificate warning with message "The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site".

The users access the SharePoint site strictly using the URL https://sharepoint.ourcompany.com. The certificate is issued by our certification authority and the CA's certificate is installed on users' computers. So when they access the site using IE, there is no certificate warning.

Is Outlook somehow using the internal URL of the server and that is why the names don't match? Is there a way to change the URL? Or is there a way to say to Outlook "ignore this warning for this URL forever and ever"

It is not critical but it bothers when you have to always click "Yes".

Thanks for any advice.

Group Calendars in SharePoint 2010

One of the many requests I had in SharePoint 2007 was the ability to place SharePoint Calendars on top of each other like you can in Outlook 2007 saving you having to look at each and work out when the best time is for a meeting.

Outlook 2010 / Sharepoint authenthication issue

Hi all,

I'm using Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 64bit.

My company uses a hosted Sharepoint server (I guess it's Sharepoint 2010). There's a team calendar, which I would like to connect to my Outlook 2010. Linking it to Outlook works fine until it tries to update the calendar with the Sharepoint server. I shows the following error:

Error (0x80070005) when running the task "SharePoint": "You are not authorized to view the SharePoint list (team calendar). Contact the administrator of SharePoint site. HTTP 401."

So this tells me, I'm not authorized to connect - which is quite clear because Outlook never asked my for any username or password.

Funny thing is when I try to add an internet calendar (Right mouse click on calendars, Add calendar, Internet calendar) and use the url of the sharepoint list, it asks me for username and password, but then fails to add the calendar, as it isn't a webcal (which is OK).

BUT: As Outlook at this moment has the username and password, the exisiting Sharepoint calendar synchronizes correctly. This works until Outlook is being restarted.

Does anyone have an idea why I'm not asked for any authentication? Maybe there's some setting I haven't found yet? It works with trying to add the webcal any time when I start Outlook, but t

Using Outlook's Calendar with SharePoint

Hey All,

Is it possible to upload from Outlook Calendar to SharePoint, or just using SharePoint Calendar sync with Outlook Calendar to be Read only?

Can anyone recommend a basic howto guide for setting this up?

Outlook Data, Sharepoint

I've created a custom list in sharepoint 2007.  I used the people picker option by selecting (Person or Group) for the type of information in this column.  In the additional column settings there is a show field drop down that contains various information you can display for the user.  Problem 1 : I select a person from the people picker on the form page, the result would display Last Name, First Name even though I selected Work Email in the show field drop down while creating the column.  However it displays properly on the custom list after saving the form.  Is there a way to change the display on the edit page? Problem 2:  I would like to auto populate fields.  Is there a way I could auto populate the list or edit form based off an employee ID such as department local etc.  All this information is in outlook but it doesn't seem to be accessable through sharepoint OTB. I created the list through sharepoint OTB on a team site and I'm using SharePoint Designer to create work flows. Thanks for the help!

Sharepoint calendar sync with personal outlook calendar

Hello I want our users to be able to make meetings in sharepoint and see it directly in their personal calendar, also when other users subscribe and unsubcribe it should be seen in their personal calendar. I know its possible to "Link/Connect with outlook" but this makes a new "Other Calendar" which u can put side to side with your own calender. I would like to have it directly imported into my personal outlook calendar.  Is there any known information , links about this?

Sharepoint Calendar export to Outlook but can only view the Title column

I have created a Calendar in Sharepoint for booking out company vehicles. The fields I have created are: Vehicle (Choice), Driver (User/Group), Start & End Times, Title (text), DisplayField (Calculated text based on Vehicle + Title...... it would be nice to include Driver but it seems Sharepoint cannot handle the User/Group datatype in a calculated field.....but I digress). I use the DisplayField calculated field in my default calendar view in Sharepoint. All is good at this point. When one connects it to Outlook (via the Action menu in Sharepoint) the calendar is added but all the entries show only the Title field. If I double click on an entry, only the title field appears - the Vehicle and Driver values are missing. When I try to create a new entry - only the Title field (plus other default Outlook fields) are available. So: How can one display a value other than Title by default, and how can I display the other columns when looking at the event detail?

Outlook to Sharepoint Synchronization

created meeting in Outlook2007; created Sharepoint meeting workspace from Outlook link; invitees accept meeting; Sharepoint site not updated with accepted status should their accpetance of the meeting in Outlook not update the Sharepoint site automatically or do i have manually change their response in Sharepoint?

Outlook Meeting changes not being made in linked Sharepoint Meeting Workspace. Why?

Changes made (meeting time and location) in outlook meeting not being reflected in the linked sharepoint meeting workspace.  Sending changes results in emails to attendees being returned as undeliverable and no changes on the sharepoint side. Looking for ideas as to what may be causing the problem.

SharePoint 2010 - 2 types of calendars?

I placed on the default.aspx programmatically using the following code.   I noticed however that this calendar has different properties than the calendar that I add from within SharePoint.  For example the ajax properties are not available on the calendar that I added through code.  Why is there a difference?? Utility     .EnsureList(site, "Calendar",SPListTemplateType.Events); public static void EnsureList(SPWeb site, string listName, SPListTemplateType template){ SPList list = null; Guid listID = Guid.Empty; if (site != null) { foreach (SPList oList in site.Lists) { if (oList.Title == listName) { list = oList; listID = oList.ID; break; } } if (list == null) { listID = site.Lists.Add(listName, "", template); list = site.Lists[listID];     if (template == SPListTemplateType.WorkflowHistory) { list.OnQuickLaunch = false; } else { list.OnQuickLaunch = true; } list.Update(); } } else { throw new Exception("In EnsureSiteDataList SPWeb is null"); }}   thanks -davedave

Outlook Reminders/Notifications related to Documents uploaded in Sharepoint.

Dear all.. I'm looking for a solution to achieve the following.. We're preparing a solution for a law firm. They're using Sharepoint server 2010 as document management system. The thing is that for example they upload a recently scanned document to sharepoint, and maybe they have to take it to the judge in 14 days.. So the user would like to have some easy way to set a reminder, so he gets in his local Outlook a reminder in 14 days with a link to the document. Also it would be nice to be able to set a reminder for a Document library, as the customer opens a new Document library for each case, and sometimes they want reminder for a single document, and sometimes for the whole case (Document library) Any easy way to have this functionality?? Thanks..  Regards..

SharePoint 2007 Metadata In Outlook 2007

I have a few users that are looking for a better way to send documents to recipients outside the organization from SharePoint 2007.  The company's policy is to try to use Metadata rather than folders in the document libraries.  Unfortunately these custom columns are not displayed in Outlook 2007 and there are hundreds of files in each of the libraries.  This makes it a little challenging to locate the files to be attached to an email.  I see that there is an add-in from Colligo that may help but I'm wondering if there is another way without the purchase of add-ins or other products.  Any ideas?
