Issues with All Documents View

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a Document Library and 'All Documents' is the default view for it. However, when I view the page, in the 'View' dropdown, the text is blank instead of 'All Documents'. Also, if I try 'Modify this view', I am getting message 'To customize this view further, use a Web page editor compatible with Windows SharePoint Services.' Also, if I goto Documents -> Settings, under 'Views' section, I see only 'Explorer View' and NOT 'All Documents'. If I click on 'Create View', 'All Documents' is available under 'Start from a view template'. I am not sure how to reset to default behavior ('All Documents' as default and able to modify the view through browser etc.,). I tried 'Reset to Site Definition' on 'AllItems.aspx' in SPD but did not work. How do I fix this issue ?

Issues accessing saved documents in SharePoint

Hello, I believe there is an issue with a current document link in SharePoint.  When we click on the main Document Folder (labelled - Project Descriptions) we are typically provided access to a large list of subfolders and documents.  For some reason now, when we click on the main Document folder, a dialogue box opens up prompting me with the following language:

Do you want to open or save this file?

  • Name: Allitems.zip
  • Type: Compressed (zipped) Folder, 6.13KB
  • From: sharepoint.ambit-consulting.com

If you click "open", you're redirected to a blank page in SharePoint.  Our documents are no where to be found.  Please help.

Issues opening documents

Have a bit of a weird one where people are getting different behaviour when opening the same documents from our intranet hosted on Sharepoint 2007 server. What's happening is that some people are clicking on a document link and if they already have the associated application open (word, excel, etc) then the newly opened document is not opened full screen, and are instead opened on the taskbar as a flashing icon. As these documents are being used for inductions for people with very low computer literacy it is causing quite a few issues as the majority of people are not aware they just need to click on the flashing icon in the taskbar to bring focus to the office document they are wanting to read. So far I think I've narrow this behaviour down to the following conditions; 1. Only occurs when clicking links to documents located on an external training vendors website which references our intranet based links. 2. Only occurs when associated office app is already open. 3. Only occurs for some people, so would appear to be profile based. Other people logged on to the same PC don't get this behaviour.   Any suggestions woud be great!  All workstations have Office 2003 and IE8 on XP as standard, so I'm a bit stumped as to what is causing these differences. Because this seems to be client based I'm wo

format-number issues with the Data View Web Part in SharePoint 2010

I have a number column named @Year_x0020_1_x0020_Revenue in the data view web part in SharePoint Designer 2010. In the Xpath expression builder - @Year_x0020_1_x0020_Revenue previews "500,000" If I use the format-number in the Xpath expression builder ==> format-number(@Year_x0020_1_x0020_Revenue, '$#,##0.00;-$#,##0.00'), it returns NaN. Is there any reason?

Using a List View web part to display documents from multiple document libraries from different site

Hi there, I am trying to have one web part display documents (or list items) from different document libraries (or different lists) from different site collections. I have achieved this under a single site collection using Data View Web Part (using SPD). I have also achieved displaying a single document library (or a list) from a different site collection by using List View Web Part. but I am not sure how to get my head around displaying documents or list items from different document libraries or lists across site collections. I have thought of using SPSiteDataQuery or ListViewByQuery, but they all seem to focus one site collection at a time. If any of you have done this before, please share your best practice on this one with me. Much appreciated. Clark

Provision Shared Documents List View Web Part in Site Template

I'm trying to add the Shared Documents "web part" that is part of the default Team Site template to a custom site template.  However, from what I've found this is not really a web part for Shared Documents, but a generic List View web part with Shared as the data source.  Also, I don't see where this is listed in the onet.xml file of the Team Site template (which I believe is the "sts" template, correct?).  Also, you cannot export/download the xml for this webpart from the page and when it is viewed via SP Designer, the way it is defined is not supported in an onet.xml file.

So how do you add this webpart to a site template?

MVC3 beta Razor View Base class/inheritance issues

There seem to be a few issues in the way Razor views are designed and the code generated

1. Descendants of WebViewPage are forced to override Execute() (since it is abstract) but that method is never called. Why?

2. The virtual method ConfigurePage is never called in descendants that override this method.

3. CreatePageFromVirtualPath is no longer virtual. This was the one method that gave us access to the Layout Page (Master Page) instance. Now we no longer have this access. Why was this done?

How can one get access to the instance of a Layout page?

SharePoint 2010, First View of documents very slow

I am using Document Center, I have PDF, Word and text files. On my first initial load of a PDF or Text file is very slow. If I wait the 30 seconds for the text or PDF to show, all the next views are fast.

I do not have issues with Word and Excel. Those seam to load via my local office program. I have been using IE7, Firefox 3.0 and Chrome. Plus multiple machines.

I have been researching and researching on google and could only find the "Detect Proxy settings" uncheck and the make page "Permissive". Those fixes did not work for me.

Please help. Thanks in Advance.

Issues with rendering patial view

I am totally a new bee in asp.net mvc. Let me now explain my issue. I have a strongly typed view which inherits from a view model Document. I want to have a partial view in that view itself. My code for this purpose is :

<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<HexsolveMVC.Models.Document>" %>

<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server">

Merge Documents as Default View

Hi all,

I use an InfoPath as reporting tool on sharepoint 2010. Upon teammembers submit their reports, team leaders are able to merge these reports into one. In order to make it pretty easy for the team leaders I solely want to display the "merge documents" view. However I am not able to select this as default view.

So if I create another view, I am not able to insert the merge function as column.

Thanks for your help!

Using Data View Web Part to access Documents in Separate Web Application

MOSS 2007 SP2
SharePoint Designer 2007

I am currently trying to display the contents of a document library within a separate site collection (different Web Application). The source document library is hosted on a Records Center on a Web Application with a name of records.example.com. The destination site (where the documents need to be displayed) is on a Web Application named teamsite.example.com

I am thinking web services is the way to go, but when I setup a connection to records.example.com/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx, I receive an error when trying to get the data:

The server returned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source. Check the format and content of your query and try again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Issues with Alerting off a specific view

I have a Form Library with multiple filtered views.  Anytime there is a change to the documents in those views an Alert will be sent out.  We have the approval process turned on.  My issue is that when I make a change to a document in the view so it does not meet the requirements to appear in the view and is only seen in the All Items view, I delete the document from the All Items view, my customers are still receiving the Alert that a document has been deleted.  Why?  The document is not in the view that the Alert is set up for.

When you choose All Changes, does it ignore that you chose to Alert off a specific view and instead Alerts if the All Items view?
