Load a DataList

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi, i use the next datalist: <asp:ListView ID="ListView1" runat="server"> <LayoutTemplate> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="itemPlaceholder" runat="server"></asp:PlaceHolder> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <img src="/img/productos/<%Eval("Codigo");%>.jpg" alt="<%Eval("Codigo");%>" /> </ItemTemplate> <EmptyDataTemplate> <div>Disculpe no hay productos.</div> </EmptyDataTemplate> </asp:ListView>  BLL.Producto losProductos = new BLL.Producto(); ListView1.DataSource = losProductos.TraerTodos(); ListView1.DataBind(); but show me this error:  Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. i can do? Thankss!!

DataList doesn't load some of the times - hit or miss

This is the problem.  My datalist, which connects to an Objectdatasource (I implemented custom paging) becomes populated with data only half of the time.  When I go to the aspx page which contains that datalist (from another page), sometimes, the datalist fully loads, but sometimes only the header shows up.  The header just contains hard-coded text whereas the body (itemtemplate portion) contains things that are binded to the objectdatasource.  I thought I would mention this since the problem might have something to do with how things in asp.net bind.The strange part of this is that when I was testing and debugging within VWD 2010, the datalist loaded fully everytime and I had no issues.  When I placed my files on the IIS web server, this is when the problems started happening.What could the problem be?  The speed of the IIS web server vs VWD's "internal server"?  My page_load, init_load, etc methods are empty for this aspx page.  The datalist is solely handled by the objectdatasource_selecting method.  Should I explicit call something from one of those early lifecycle methods to ensure proper datalist loading?Thanks in advance.

The DataTable in ADO.NET 2.0 has been seriously beefed up and I absolutely love it. Not everything we consume deals with multiple resultsets and requires the ever popular DataSet. With the cool new features in the ADO.NET 2.0 DataTable, we can get many of the cool features in the DataSet without all the extra baggage and memory footprint particular to multiple resultsets.

The Web Application compiles and run fine when I don't go through the Web Deployment Project. However when I try to use that, I get the following error:

Data: More Load, Less Code with the Data Enhancements of ASP.NET 2.0

A data source control is a server control that wraps some basic functions of a data source - be it a SQL Server database, an XML document, an Excel worksheet, or a sitemap description. Through the services of a similar component, data-bound controls can fetch data as well as insert new records or update and delete existing ones. Data source controls enable a consistent model across a variety of data sources and dramatically reduce the amount of code needed to implement a two-way data-binding scenario. This article provides an introduction to data source controls and other related data binding features.
