Report subscriptions fail due to security extension exception

Hi,     We are using SSRS 2008 with Custom Security extension for all authentication and authorization.     When trying to use report subscription attaching actual reports (not a link to the report), we get the following error. Question:       1. Can we use report subsription (as attachment) with custom authentication?       2. Can we use external email addresses for email subscription? Security Extension - Report Manager unable to authenticate

I am upgrading from 2005 to 2008 r2.  I have the very same exact issue/scenario as described in http://www.go4answers.com/Example/security-extension-report-manager-26934.aspx. I installed CU4 instead of CU3 as the link suggests.

When go to the Report Manager url, I get to the UILogon.aspx page just fine to log on with good credentials, but after I enter Username and Password, I get the following message on the form itself: "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: uriString".  I can get to Report Manager just fine if I logon to the Report Server first and leave it in IE, and then Invoke Report Manager.  I think/hope I am missing a setting in a .config file somewhere, I just can't figure out which one.

Access report server database connection information from custom security extension

Hi,

Is there any way from my custom security extension that I can get to and unencrypt the database connection information held within the RSReportServer.config file?

Cheers,

VS 2010 XAML Design View Load always fail with a Type Load Exception

Create a new WPF project in VS and change nothing. The Design View will fail to load with the error below. Error    1    Could not load type 'Microsoft.Expression.DesignModel.Core.ISharedInstanceBuilder' from assembly 'Microsoft.Expression.DesignModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. Microsoft.Expression.DesignModel is an assembly from Expression Blend. I ever installed Blend 4 RC and uninstall and install Blend 4. I Reflector the assembly I have under Blend 4 bin folder. And cannot find a interface named ISharedInstanceBuilder. But the WPF project is a Template project without any changes. How it get related with Blend 4? And how to fix it? Thanks.

External Code Assemblies, Report Subscriptions, and configuration files

I've got a report that relies on a very small external assembly for data for one of its fields.  That assembly, in turn, relies on some values from System.Configuration for portions of its work. I have the configuration keys and values running fine in the web interface, set up in web.config, but when users set up subscriptions for the report it runs fine but doesn't retrieve the configuration values from web.config (as expected) nor does it retrieve them from rsreportserver.config, where I have tried them in the root of the config file as <add key=... /> entries and also by wrapping them inside an <appSettings /> node.  I have also tried them in an appropriately-name config file in the bin directory.  In all cases the report is fine except the field that relies on the external assembly, where I recieve an error indicating that there's missing information (the config vals are used in a String.Format() call): Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format at System.String.Format(IFormatProvider provider, String format, Object[] args) at ExternalDBFunctions.ExternalSelectors.GetNotificationStati(String NotificationID) mscorlib When I remove the config values from the web.config, the web interface shows exactly the same error. Where should these configuration values go?

GoDaddy - Security Exception

Hi guys!GoDaddy is playing with my emotions! I got the Security exception error when connecting to MySQL database. I followed the steps suggested by the GoDaddy support on this forum at http://forums.asp.net/t/999456.aspx?PageIndex=1 but I still have the exception!i downloaded the latest version of the data connector, added the [assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers] to the AssemblyInfo.cs, built the solution again, put the generated dll in a Bin folder on my website, ran it and nothing happend Have I done something wrong?I'm pissed because they posted the solution here and when I sent them an email asking for support they said "The error you are encountering is due to the Trust Level that is set on shared server hosting. Your program is attempting to use Full Trust settings, however, shared hosting is set at Medium. In order to have Full Trust enabled you will need to move up to a Virtual Dedicated Server."That's redicolous!!!! Do this DLL thing work for real? This is my code, in case you have some doubts of what I am doing. <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="DKName" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="data2" HeaderText=&

Subscriptions using Windows Integrated Security (Datasource)

Hi All, Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....."What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be honest and creates an ad

Report Level Security in SSRS using Tsql

So i am Brand new in this area i have developed reports before and deployed them but never got an oppurtunity to work on security and who gets to see what.. Purpose of the view is thats what im thinking..   We have a reports database has 100 reports . What we are trying to do is have a faster way to manage report subscriptions. The tables i have is Analysts, SalesRep,SalesRepSubs and dbo.users.Dbo users are our web portal users where they can view reports. I want to create a table in which every report is viewed per security level. We have 6 layers of security layer 1 is lowers to layer 6 being highest. This is the relationship between tables Salesrep(SRID PK) Salesrep_sub (SRID_SUBID PK) Analysts : (AnalystIDPK) Users: The Table has all Users who are Salesrep,Sales Repsub and Analysts)(PKID PK) and we have cols SRID, SRID_SUBID & AnalystID) in this table. use Pricing go Alter View dbo.User_Access   AS select S.SR_name,u.SRID,sr.SRsub_name,u.SRID_SubID,U.Userid,u.username,u.Email, u.SecurityLevel,a.AnalystID from dbo.Users u join tbl_Analyst a on a.AnalystID=u.UserID join tbl_SalesRep s on s.SRID=u.SRID Join tbl_SalesRep_Sub sr on sr.SRID_SubID=u.SRID_SubID My question is what do i do next? Add this view to Report server? or how can i make it functionl?????????FM

SSRS custom security extension behind a router fire wall not working

I have a instance of SSRS 2008 installed (we are not using IIS) with custom security extension which accepts a application user ID and password and sends back a sql authorization cookie back to client for logging into SSRS.  The (SSRS) server is behind a router,  SSRS is configured on port 81,  Port 81 in router if forwarded to the SSRS server. Here is the problem If I am inside the router firewall (RDP'ed to the machine) I am able to access report server (http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:81/ReportServer) and reports manager (http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:81/Reports) without any issues. If  am outside the firewall and try to go to report server page (http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:81/ReportServer) from browser and try to login it works (I am getting the cookie back and authentication goes through fine).   But if I try to access reports manager (http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:81/Reports) the login page shows up when I enter user ID and password and hit enter to authenticate it comes back to the login screen (I am not gettint the cookie back from SSRS). Any help is highly appreciated on how to debug /fix this issue. Note : if I first login to Reportserver (which sends the cookie back) and in the same session I login to Reports Manager I am able to get into Reports Manager page since I got the cookie when I logged in to reports server page already.  When I

SSRS 2008 R2 Subscriptions Tab Missing From Report

We are running SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard This server has been upgraded from SQL Server 2008 Standard and previously from SQL 2005.  Since the upgrade we have noticed that the Subscriptions Tab is no longer available from within reports.  I can still subscribe to a report from the report manager page by selecting subscribe from the drop down.  Our report server fulfills the criteria for the tab to be available (We have a mail server configured,  Permissions on each report are correct and the credentials are stored in the datasource) and it was available before the upgrade.  Since our end users do not access the report manager page but link to each report directly we need this tab to be enabled.  Is there some other setting we need to change to enable this?

WCF Exception "Message security verification failed" only with header!

Hi, I've got a WCF service doing Username authentication. I authenticate with AD and authorize using AzMan on AD. I'm hosting the service in IIS 6 and its running in an app pool that runs in a domain account that has read rights on the AD. I have a custom header that goes both ways. Everything works well until I assign the custom header to return. If I never assign the custom header to return everything is ok but if I do assign the custom header to return I get the error:- Message security verification failed.Duplicate attribute found. Both 'u:Id' and 'u:Id' are from the namespace 'http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-utility-1.0.xsd'. Line 1, position 520. I've got service level message tracing and I can see the secure conversation stuff happening and the messages going across the interface.   If anyone has any ideas I'd be most appreciative.   Thanks,   Andy

Security on Report Server

Hi,

Right now we have a certain structure on our report server. Every department has it's own folders with their specific reports.
But every department can look at the reports of every other department, is it possible to manage this security?
For example the sales employees, they should only see the report concerning sales operations and not these of IT.
One solution i've been thinking of is managing the access to the folders on the server itself (back-end). But I was hoping there was a better way to take care of this problem in report server (front-end).
