My project requires me to create an event reciever such that when a word file is added to one library the same content pdf file should be added to other library also when a word file is updated, edited or checked in the respective pdf file in other document library should be replaced by a new pdf file with the edited word content . Can we do this in Sharepoint 2007 I have seen this can be done in Sharepoint 2010 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff181518.aspx

MOSS 2007 and Word/Excel 2003

Hi, I am working with MOSS 2007 and building a context webpart which contains links to various places. One of the the links is trying to go to a Bookmark in a Word 2003 document. Upon attempting this it only goes to the top of the document and not to the expected bookmark location. I then tried to define a named range in an Excel 2003 file and had Sharepoint point to the named range. The same behavior occurred, it simply went to the top of the document. Here is a code snippet which points to the excel name range called Base: <A href="http://tserver4/sites/HALBI/GON/Shared%20Documents/Parts.xls#Base"> Does anyone know of any issues with this scenario? Thanks, Larry

Cannot create new document with word 2007

Hi!   I'm using WSS 3.0 for development on windows 7 64bit. I created a document library based on word 2003 template. Using Internet Explorer 8, when I click "New" button on the library word 2007 starts with "template.doc". Then word displays a nice error message "microsoft office word has not been installed for the current user. please run setup to install the application" and quits.   Things I tried and NOT working: - Adding sharepoint user to local admin - Giving Everyone full control to "C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA\OPA12.dat"  - deleting "C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA\OPA12.dat"   any suggestions ?

Word 2010 crashes everytime I try to load a doc from SharePoint 2007.

Every time I try to load a doc from our sharepoint site, Word stops working and crashes.  I have repaired Office from Programs and Features, I have renamed the WWLIB.DLL as bad and then repairec again (It came back) and I can not find a dupolicate version of the owssupp.dll file.  In fact the only file in the Office 11 is the UCSribe.dll and it is not duplicated in the Office 14 folder.  The Event viewer gives this error Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fb0e Faulting module name: wwlib.dll, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fba1 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00612406 Faulting process id: 0xc98 Faulting application start time: 0x01cb5110726d8727 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\wwlib.dll Report Id: b4600a6b-bd03-11df-988f-463500000031   Does anybody have a solution for me? Migrate/Move Document Library from Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

Hi, I have a customer that is setting up a new SPS 2010 environment. They have a Sharepint 2007 environment with one document library containing only PDF files. They will not need any metadata on these documents, but would like it to be moved to the new SPS 2010 environment only to be used for history and free text search. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?   Regards Christian GrannesChristianLLoyd

How to migrate sharepoint site in 2007 with custom solution package and its content to sharepoint 20

Hi Experts, Recently, my organization is planning for SharePoint 2010 upgrade. We decide to go with Database content migration as it is less impact with down time due to hardware and software requirement (64 bit) in SharePoint 2010. We have a sub-site which contains a lot of customization such as master page, custom list, web parts and a lot of content. There is also a solution was built for that sub-site as well. However, as the time past by there quite a few update and manual creating from power users which concern to me that the solution package that we have does not up to date that can be use for SharePoint 2010 upgrade. I am planning to re-package the solution for the upgrade with all the changes users made for SharePoint 2010. But the question is how do I migrate the content of existing site when we upgrade to 2010? It is also possible that they want to change the sturction of the site when migrate eg: make this new upgrade site as top site collection instead of sub-site. Another concern is what happen after I finish making re-package the solution but during the re-package period users might make more change to the existing site? I would greatly appreciate for any ideas, suggestions as well as best methodology I should take.   Thanks praneth

Document is read-only in SharePoint, but user sees "check out" option in Office 2007 / Word / Excel

I am finding that when there is a document library in SharePoint with checkin/checkout required, if a user with read-only ("Visitor") permissions opens a document from that library, the document will open as read-only in Word, Excel, etc., but the user will see the "Server Document" bar with the message "To modify this document, you must check it out" and the "check out" button.  When the user tries to check the document out, they are asked to authenticate, and then receive the error "Cannot perform this operation.  The file has been deleted or someone else has it checked out."    How is it possible to prevent a user with read-only rights in SharePoint from seeing the "Check out" option in Word or Excel?

Word 2007 documents won't open from Sharepoint Services site

I have a Sharepoint Services 3.0 site that contains shared documents, Word, Excel, PDF, etc.  I cannot open Word documents directly from the shared documents portal.  Other file types like Excel adn PDF open fine.  It's only Word that has the issue.  I'm using Word 2007 and it doesn't matter if it is a .docx or a .doc, both act the same.  Word tries tro open, then just sits there....no error message or anything.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Migrate MOSS 2007 to a new Web Front End Server

I have a MOSS 2007 WFE that on a VMWare virtual machine that has extreme lag.  The SQL backend is reporting no issues.  Just accessing the VM to move around in the OS (start, run, etc) takes 2-5 minutes, and as a result the users are seeing extreme delays in accessing pages, search results populate 30+ secs rather than sub-second, if at all, clicking links take forever to respond, if at all, etc.

i'd like to move the a new VM because attempting to work in that VM is maddening.  Whats the proper procedure to migrate all the pertinent configs etc for the WFE to another machine?  NOTE:  The second VM has been created and already has a different name and IP.

SharePoint 2007 Content Deployment Word Document URLs being changed

We created an application that leverages on SPExport and SPImport.

We noticed that when we export/import site, the links on the word documents pointing to same application on the target site seems to get truncated url, the url parameters (ie ?param1=a&param2=b) are truncated.

also the host header seems to get updated ie(http://my.shop.com/path1/path2 turns to like (http://hostheader/path1/path2) which is causing broken links.

need some help/advice/ suggestion.

Thanks a lot

Long delay opening Word documents from SharePoint 2007 with Office 2010

The first time a document is opened it's fine, opens in just a few seconds.

Subsequently, there is a long delay (about 20 seconds) in the "Contacting server for information..." step.

This happens to all users and all documents, each one will open fast the first time then slowly the second and subsequent times (until, we think, the app pool is recycled - there is no schedules iisreset/reboot).

This does not happen when using Office 2007.

IE6 and 7 exhibit the same behaviour.
