Internet facing SharePoint site - user shouldn't have to log in to change the langague

Hello, I am using SharePoint 2010 for Internet sites.  Anonymous access has been enabled.  Language packs have been installed so that users can switch to different languages as required.  However, the only way for a different language to be selected other than the default is for the user to log into the site and then the option would be displayed.....This is an internet facing site with anonymous access therefore users shouldn't have to log in to change the language.  Can someone guide/advise on switching the lanuguage of the site without loggin in. Thanks, Shelley

Alternate Access mapping - Intranet site

Hi All, I'm banging my head against a brick wall here trying to setup an alternate access mapping for an intranet site in SharePoint 2007. I have a default site setup which has the following public default URL: http://SERVERNAME:2586 I want users to access the site using the URL http://Intranet Now from reading about alternate access mappings I thought this should be as simple as adding an internal url of http://intranet under the intranet zone. With this set up I preceded to add the binding to the IIS website. I added the binding with All Assigned IP addresses, port 2586, and host as Intranet. The final thing I did to check this was to add an entry to the hosts file for the server IP address with the host name of intranet. This was followed by a flush of the DNS cache on the server. Whgen trying to access the site using the URL i now get the IIS7 welcome page, but not the SharePoint site I expected. Can anyone point me in the direction of what i've done wrong, Its got me stumped. Cheers, Grant

Change Site.Master width in CSS

Hi, I'm all new to ASP.NET but not to CSS/HTML.

I created a new WebApplication in Visual Studio 2010. In the CSS document (Site.css) it says:

    width: 960px;
    background-color: #fff;
    margin: 20px auto 0px auto;
    border: 1px solid #496077;

And the first div tag in the Site.Master file is:

<div class="page">

If I change that 960px to 400px for instance, it does not change the width of my document. Even if I write 0px it does not "recognize" the change.

Using HttpModule to change master page dynamically on SharePoint 2010 site

I am trying to change master page dynamically on SharePoint 2010 site. I reviewed some documents (SharePoint: Dynamically Change Master Page: http://ranaictiu-technicalblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/sharepoint-dynamically-change-master.html) and I implemented IHttpModule, added it to GAC, modified web.config(safecontrol, httpmodule, module)
It works good! But I found some problems
1.Never catch the PreInit event for publishing pages
2."/_Layouts/RedirectPage.aspx" page occurred error
3.ContextMenu did not work

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Text;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using Microsoft.SharePoint;
using System.Configuration;
using Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationRuntime;

namespace MasterUtilModule
    public class MasterModule : IHttpModule
        public void Dispose() { }
        public void Init(HttpApplication context){

change people picker to a site level scope

Hi NG,

I created a couple of sites inside one site collection.
Every site uses its own permission groups.
Now I want to constrain the people picker to use only one specified AD - group as search base.
I want to define one AD - group per site.
I found some basic information about

stsadm –o setproperty –pn peoplepicker-searchadcustomfilter –pv … -url …

Is this the right way?
Is this command working on a site level?
How could I delete filters which are not necessary anymore?

Thanks in advance

EF4 DD site, change the Display Name of a table?

I'm using .net 4 with a link to entities web application, and I"ve got the data annotations starting to work, but I'm wondering if there is a way to display a friendly name for my tables?

this code gives me a compilation error that says:

Error 1 Attribute 'Display' is not valid on this declaration type. It is only valid on 'method, property, indexer, field, param' declarations. C:\Kens Files Oct 2010\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ManagementAndDiagnosticsWeb\EFWebApp\EntityClasses\ScaffoldRules.cs 37 10 EFWebApp

Need to change site theme dynamically in MOSS 2007

I'm searching for a web part (or some code easy to implement) that allow to change site theme everytime I click on a link. For example, suppose that I've three colored circles: Red, Blue and Brown. If I click on the red one, I'll obtain the Red theme site; if I select the Blue one, I'll obtain the Blue theme site, and so on. Basically, I need something to personalize look and feel of my site depending on users preferences.

Thanks in advance.

Change Top Nav "Home" Link without changing site title?

Is it possible to change the top navigation bar "home" link (i.e. the selected top-left navigation item) without changing the site's title?

This is for a site configured with the Global Navigation set to: "Display the navigation items below the current site".

So, for example, if the site is called "Team Site", then the top-left navigation link will be called "Team Site". I would like to change the navigation link text, but keep the site title.

Wss v 3 site collection - can't add /change /edit any content

Hi guys,

I have noticed a very strange thing in my wss v 3 site. Since a few days Nobody can add / modify / delete contents of site. Site actions button give only Site settings options, Not like before edit page etc, View all site content does not show Create button. Any document library or list does not shpow anything but Actions button.  It is clearly a lost permission issue, however  when I checked and rechecked all of those are correct. I'm even login as an administrator which is listed as site collection admin and nothing. STSADM.EXE" -o backup -url let me do a backup however option restore give access denied HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED). Of course I'm running as site collection admin. Where to look for answers ?

How to change Default My Site Template

When new user access to SharePoint for the first time and click on MySite (or access to MySiteHost), SharePoint will automatically create the Personal Site. I understand that it will use SPSPERS template (ID = 21). Can we change this default Site Template to other saved site template (that is based on SPSPERS (ID=21)?

I have tried to configure onet.xml of SPSPERS (I am aware that this might not be supported). However, it's very difficult to configure all the webparts and features that are needed for every new site created for users in onet.xml. So my idea is to save one configured personal site as Site Template, and every personal site should use this Site Template as personal site instead. What I have done now, is to manually create the Personal Site based on Site Template (using stsadm -o createsite), and it works perfectly. But it's tough to pre-create every personal site for new users. Is there any way to change the default personal site template?

And 2nd questions, is there any way to set Blog feature automatically created?

Programmatically activate Alternate languages

Hey, I got a sitecollection and I've installed german and english language pack on my server. In websitesettings -> Languagesettings: I can manually activate an alternate language, but I haven't found a way to do it manually.

I've tried to use AddSupportedUICulture for and I've tried to set IsMultilingual to true, but both ways seem not to work.
