Including project output does not include web forms

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I have an VS 2010 ASP.NET application that I am trying to deploy.I added a Web Setup Project to the solution, and then went to "Add > Project Output" and selected my application. So far so good. The problem is that when I run this installer, the only files that appear in my Inetpub folder are the compiled application dll's. So I cannot browse the website, unless I manually go to the setup project, and include each file in the setup. How can I get the Microsoft Web Setup Project to include the web forms, and not just the project dll?

How to add Sharepoint dll reference to Windows Forms application project in Visual Studio 2010?

Hi,I am using Windows Forms application template in Visual Studio 2010 Beta. I created this for some R & D work. Now I am using Sharepoint object model in application. When I am trying to add Sharepoint dll reference from .NET tab, I can not see Windows Sharepoint Services there Which was available in Visual Studio 2005.Also If I am add this sharepoint dll from ISAPI folder (14 Hive), it is added succesfully, but it is not taking actually in project and showing me an error during running mode that theError 12 The type or namespace name 'SharePoint' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Please suggest me how to add Sharepoint dll reference in Windows forms application in Visual Studio 2010?

_CrtIsValidHeapPointer(pUserData) getting thrown in debug mode, /clr Forms project calling custom na

I'm working on a native DirectX11 project where I'm trying to use Windows Forms as a GUI for myself to modify things in the visual environment. I know the native static libraries are stable and not walking through memory since I have an .exe that can run it externally from the clr Form project. _CrtIsValidHeapPointer(pUserData) is getting thrown at runtime and I can see that this has alot to do with atexit and _onexit being called. The stack trace that directly relates to my code looks like the following: > HogsheadEd.exe!`dynamic initializer for 'Hogshead::Core::ResourceLibrary::_prototypes''()  Line 7 + 0x32 bytes C++ This line in code is a static member in a cpp: Vector<IResource*> ResourceLibrary::_prototypes; where Vector<type> is a static instance of custom templated class in one of my native static libraries, IResouce is a pure virtual class, and ResourceLibrary is essentially a singleton with all static members and methods. I've done alot of searching and http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vcgeneral/thread/62db4002-4ebc-4a3a-91ec-9fc702db821e/ appears to be very similar to my problem yet anything I try mentioned there does not work for me. I am using Visual Studio 2010 and to be honest I do not know much about debug symbols. This seems to be a solved problem from what I'm

Missing "Include Content" checkbox when creating Project Workspace template.

I'm trying to use an existing project workspace to create a custom template. This workspace includes standard content that I'd like to include in the template for use in future project workspaces. However, when I go to "Save site as template" I don't get the option to "Include Content" like I see when creating a template for a site or sub-site. Any clue why I can't include content for a project workspace template? MOSS 2007.

Including an SQL Express Database File in a Setup Project

I'm building a win app using VS 2008 in C# using an SQL Express 2005 DB.  What is the best way to include a SQL DB in a setup project.  Does the SQL need to have a .dbo or .mdf extension?  I'm new to SQL Server Express.

Unable to open the physical file. Using Asp.net Forms and VB.net Project

I Hope I can explain and express this well.. I'm getting tired figuring out this error. Well, Basically. I have uploaded my ASP.net website to a server (IIS installed) as well as the VB project I made.

BOTH are connecting to a DB named CLIENTS.

the website uses a datagrid to show data, while the VB Project updates the DB based on a monitored folder.

The Problem is If the website is opened first the VB project shows an error "Unable to open the physical file (MDF). Operating system error 32 (error not found)"

and Vice Versa if the VB project is first started.

Please Help.

Including policy files in a VS SharePoint Project package

I have some policy files to redirect requests for old versions of some custom assemblies in the GAC to the new versions, and I've just refactored my project to use a SharePoint project for packaging (previously I was doing this with MSBuild scripts) - how do I configure my SharePoint project to also include the policy .dll and .config files in the package so that they also get deployed properly?

Save output tab/window information for debugging project compilation on server

Below is an example of when I run my VB.net project in VS2008, i have an "Output" tab at the bottom that shows some detailed information on what is going on.  My application builds & runs in debug within seconds, but on the server the very first load most mornings takes about 3 minutes.  I'd like to save this "Output" tab information to a text file so that when it runs on the actual server, i can see whats going on.  Maybe even add timestamps to it as well. Could someone please explain how to do this?  Thank you!

WCF routing not working in ASP.NET 4 Web Forms project

I have ASP.NET 4 Web Forms web application project in which I am attempting WCF REST service routing as follows:

            RouteTable.Routes.Add(new ServiceRoute("Services/REST/Calendars/",
                new WebServiceHostFactory(),

            RouteTable.Routes.Add(new ServiceRoute("Services/REST/DynamicContent/",
                new WebServiceHostFactory(),

I cannot get the WCF REST service properly routed in a ASP.NET 4 Web Form only web application project.....however if I create a combo ASP.NET 4 MVC2/Web Forms web application project.....the routing always works fine.

I thought the URL routing module no longer needs to be included for ASP.NET 4 projects ?.....regardless of whether it is Web Forms or MVC based ?

Please advise.

Project Example: ASP.NET MVC + SubSonic Architecture

use of SubSonic to provide the DAL in association with some ASP.NET MVC sites and was waylaid in my original intent to throw up a post summarizing the architecture we're using for the effort. Well I've finally gotten around to it. Recall that in his fake it till you need it post, Dave provided a window on our architecture that I'll build upon here

Routing for Web Forms in ASP.NET 4.0

posted a prototype demonstrating how one could use Routing within Web Forms. This is something you can do today with ASP.NET 3.5 SP1, because of the work we did to separate Routing from ASP.NET MVC. I would have liked to include Web Form Routing as part of the Routing feature when we were working on SP1, but we didn't have the time to do so in a robust manner before SP1 was locked down.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0

Applications have special support in Windows Forms. For starters, you can manage and tailor your application's lifetime, and, when the work flow is disrupted by an unhandled exception, you can choose from several methods of response. Then, there are several application models that you can employ, including Single Document Interface (SDI) and Multiple Document Interface (MDI) applications, each of which can support either multiple-instance or single-instance mode, the former the VS05 default and the latter requiring special consideration. All applications, however, can discover and use a wide variety of information about the system and environment they execute in.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0-Single-MDI Applications

Consider an MDI application like Microsoft Excel; files opened from the file system (by double-clicking) are all opened as separate child windows within the parent Excel window.7 For the first instance of an MDI application to open a new child window to display the file that was passed to the second instance of the application, the second instance must be able to communicate with the initial instance.

Explained: Forms Authentication in ASP.NET

This module explains how forms authentication works in ASP.NET version 2.0. It explains how IIS and ASP.NET authentication work together, and it explains the role and operation of the FormsAuthenticationModule class.
