Dynamically (on client side) populating data control (repeater) when dropdown item is selected

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hello!I'm currently working on a project and I want to make as much things as possible performing on client side - with as little loading as possible.The project consist of three "main" pages. On one page I use jQuery DataTable plugin which is working great. One page has tabs (using jQuery). I want to put datacontrol (repeater) on this site and when  user selects one item in dropdown, data in repeater loads on client side, without performing the action on server.I wonder if this is possible and if somebody can give me some case to help with?Thanks!I hope I was clear enough. all the best

I need to be able to disable a button inside a repeater control when an item in the data is <1

For example, I have an inventory table. If any one of the items is less then one, I need to disable the button. <asp:Repeater id="repeater1" <ItemTemplate> <asp:Button id=btnSize /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater>

jQuery instead of UpdatePanel (repeater loads when item in dropdown is selected)

Hello!I want to develop web page on which most of the things happens on clientside. The page contains several tabs (jQuery). One tabbed section have repeater which load when item in dropdown is selected.I've placed this 2 controls in UpdatePanel. Does somebody have any example how to achieve this without UpdatePanel, with jQuery?  I've heard that UpdatePanels are bad for page performance. I'm very new to jQ and Ajax.Thanks!all the bestBlaz

Changing data item value Repeater dynamically

How do i dynamically change the value of dataitem in repeater control(.net 2.0,VS 2005)..i have repeater something like this :
<asp:Repeater ID="rptGameInfo" runat=server OnItemDataBound="itemDataBound_rptGameInfo"  >
<HeaderTemplate >

</HeaderTemplate>
<ItemTemplate >
<asp:Label ID="lblLoc" runat=server Text="Location:" ></asp:Label><%# Eval("GAME_LOCATION")%><br />
</ItemTemplate >
</asp:Repeater>

and it shows the result like this:
location:"Select"

If location is "Select" i want to change it to "n/a". So i am trying to capture it in itemDataBound even something like this

if ((e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Item) || (e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.AlternatingItem))
            {
                DataRowView row = e.Item.DataItem as DataRowView;
                string location = row["GAME_LOCATION"].ToString();

                if (location == "Select"

Use jQuery and ASP.NET AJAX to build a client side Repeater

By sending only data to the client, you can profoundly reduce the size of what you send and see a substantial increase in performance. You also allow yourself the ability to easily add features like light-weight sorting and paging on the client. This can not only improve your users' experience, but reduce server load and bandwidth requirements.

To that end, I'm going to walk you through these four steps to effectively implementing a client side Repeater, using ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery:

Persist data in a dynamically populated ListBox in a user control

Hi All,

I am trying to persist data in a dynamically populated ListBox in a user control. Here are the details

I have a user control which contains a a listBox and button. On Page_Load of user control I am populating the ListBox control with some values. On Click of button, I am trying to fetch the values which I have selected in ListBox. Though this seems very simple and straight forward I am unable to fetch values.

My Page_Load Function

void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

{

       If(!IspostBack)

        {

              listBox.items.Add("Item1");

             listBox.items.Add("item2");

             listBox.items.Add("item3");

         }

}

My Click Function

Protected Void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

{

       string strValue = listBox.SelectedValue

}

I have placed brake point at Page_Load and on click function, I am seeing that the moment the breakpoin

Client Side Data Manipulation

I have a web page that displays a listing of links.  A treeview control displays a hierarchy of tags with checkboxes that act as filters... when checked,  the list is 'filtered'.  This all works fine but what I really need is for this page to be lightning fast.  Right now, checking a box fires an event and a postback, etc.   I'm wondering if there is a way to do all of this on the client side.  For example, could you start out with a complete listing (dataset) of all possible hyperlinks,  and then apply filters to that list all on the client side so as to eliminate any lag/postback?

Dynamically Populate a DVWP depending on selected item

Hello,

I am wanting to create a dashboard page with several data view web parts which dynamically populate depending on what item is selected in a separate web part (drop down form or just a list of links).  Can someone please point me to a tutorial or documentation on how to pass data between web parts or to a DVWP?  I have searched for a few hours and not been able to find anything useful.

Thanks,

Jon

Button to copy selected item in dropdown to textbox

Hi, I found this bit of code which I tried and it isn't working. I just want to place a button next to a dropdown, and when clicked, the selected item in the dropdown will put into another textbox. <head><title>Untitled</title></head><body><script type="text/javascript">function copy() {var sel = document.getElementById("names");var text = sel.options.value;var out = document.getElementById("output");out.value += text+"\n";}</script> <select id="names"><option>Product One</option><option>Product Two</option><option>Product Three</option><option>Product Four</option></select><input type="button" onclick="copy()" value="Copy"><textarea id="output"></textarea> </body></html>   I saved this as a file and opened it in IE to test and nothing went into the textarea. Also i tried it in Firefox and the textarea said undefined each time I click the button. Can someone help to get this working?
