Go International!: Let Your Apps Span the Globe with Windows Forms and Visual Studio .NET

How would an English speaker feel if his car's owner's manual was written in German or if the dash board markings were written in Japanese because the car was manufactured in that country? This is an experience common to computer users all over the world who don't speak English as their primary language, and it's becomming more important. The Microsoft .NET Framework not only makes it possible to build international applications, but many of the tools such as Visual Studio .NET make it quite easy. This article looks at internationalization with .NET and presents real tools you can use to make all of your Windows Forms applications global-ready.

validate date/time span and alow only time input

Hi, I have 2 small questions: 1. How can I  make a filed for input only time without date? 2. I need to make a date/time validation in form like: if(time between begin_date_field  and end_date_field) is not in intersection (time between begin_date_field  and end_date_field) of any item in list) Can I make this validation only using VisualStudio2010 or is there a simpler way? ( I need this for small list for managing reservations of conference rooms )

function or query to return continuous span of months $ years as rows in query

I am using SS2008.

There are many situations in which I need to return a table where the rows are EVERY calendar month between two dates, not just the months where there is data present.

Is there a function that would take a beginning and end date mmddyyyy which would do this?

For example if I wanted 1/2004 through 8/2010?

and so on to

jquery - span text changed event

is there a jquery event that is fired when the text of a span element is changed? The change event does not apply to <span> elements. I see reference to "text changed", but $('#PriceCond').bind('textchange', function(event, prevText) { ... }) ; does not work either.

     <input type="button" id="TestButton" value="Test" />

     <span id="PriceCond"></span>

<script type="text/javascript">
  $(document).ready(function ()

    var clickFunc =
          function ()
            var s1 = $('#PriceCond').text();
            $('#PriceCond').text(s1 + 'x');

    var priceChangeFunc =
          function ()
            alert('in priceChangeFunc');

asp:LoginStatus control with nested ?

Is it possible to place a nested span inside

an <asp:LoginStatus /> control?

So instead of just...

<a id="LoginStatus1" href="javascript:__doPostBack('LoginStatus1$ctl00','')">

you would have...

<a id="LoginStatus1" href="javascript:__doPostBack('LoginStatus1$ctl00','')">
<span class="myCustomSpan">Logout</span></a>

asp:button with a span in it.

I would like to have this:

Is this something than could be done through custom control?

<asp:button runat="server"><span></span></asp:button>

I am thinking that <asp:button runat="server" span="something"> is possible with custom control, but not what I want. Help is appreciated how to do this. Thanks.

How to query SSAS cube based on a time span?

sorry, I'm new to SSAS. something i couldn't figure out, plase help me.

I have a fact table: Log   and a dimision table: Time

in the Time table, all the record are in date format detailed to hour. such as 2010-06-01 23:00:00

and in the log table, each log record has a time column.

Now I want to query based on two time parameters other program passed me.

e.g. , I want to know how many log records between 2010-01-01 02:00:00 and 2010-10-27 12:00:00.

but when i do the query, the problem is on the time spot '2010-01-01 02:00:00', maybe no log record avaliable.

so the query return nothing! The following is my query.

select NON EMPTY{[Log].[Subject].children} on 1,
NON EMPTY{[Measures].[Quantity]} on 0
 ( SELECT ( STRTOMEMBER('[Time].[Date].&[2010-05-01T23:00:00]') : STRTOMEMBER('[Time].[Date].&[2010-05-24T23:00:00]') ) on 0
   from [Db TMIC])

if Time.Date has no member of 2010-05-05 23:00:00, I got nothing!

I also tried use filter to get the nearest value, but still don't work.

select {[Measures].[Quantity]} on 0,

Filter([Time].[Date], [Time].[Date].CurrentMember < '2010-05-05T23:00:00') on 1
from [Db TMIC]

Can any one help how to solve the problem? To query based on two time values.

checkboxlist item renders as when the item is disabled

Hi All,

I spent about whole day today try to fix this bloody problem, this is my scenario:

I am having a checkboxlist control (dont ask me why use this control coz i am just fixing the other ppl's issue), the items in the checkboxlist are loaded from the header of a gridview, one of the items in the checkboxlist needs to be disabled, and once a button been clicked on the page, an ajax modal popup extender opens up and the checkboxlist item will appear there with one or more items need to be disabled.

Note: I do use master page and content page on my web application.

It all works as expected, but as most of you knew, this approach is not w3c validated since w3c doesn't allow this <span disabled = "disabled">, and w3c compliance is one of my requrement.

to my best knowledge, i googled and tried nearly everything i can find but still without any luck.

and this is the code in the Page_Load event and i believe might work but need to be tweaked:

            string jsName = "DisableScript";
            Type jsType = this.GetType();
            ClientScriptManager csm = Page.ClientScript;
            if (!csm.IsStartupScriptRegistered(jsType, jsName))
                StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
                sb.Append("<script type=text
