Should time date stamp on .Asmx file change when project is rebuilt?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I have a web service project. The web service is named Recalc.asmx and it has a code behind file namedRecalc.asmx.vb Now if I make a change to my web service .vb code and then recompile the project, should my Recalc.asmx filebe updated as well? In windows explorer I see that the time date stamp of my Racalc.asmx.vb file changes to the date of the last change. But the time date stamp of the Recalc.asmx file does not change? Why is that? My original thinking was that I would simply need to copy the Recalc.asmx file to the test server. But the date stillshows it's original creation date of 7/1/2010 and not the date of the last rebuild as I was hoping it would do?

Droping a time stamp from a date stored in SQL 2008.

I am printing the data from a SQL 20008 column with a data type of "Date" but when I do it adds in 12:00:00AM to the date. If I look in mangament studio no time stamp is being stored in SQL but when I print it I get the date stored in the column but it adds a time. I have tried useing string.format() trying to remove it but it does not (tried using mm/dd/yyyy for the format). How can I prevent the time from being added to the date? I am  not sure if this is something wrong on the DB side or not. If this is not a SQL error and this post belongs somewhere else please move it there and sorry for posting in the wrong section.

Sharepoint attachments with time/date stamp

I am not a sharepoint guru, so please feel free to talk to me like I'm a beginner.

We have a web part that allows attachments and the boss wants to time/date stamp the attachments so he knows which one is the most recent. I know this happens with ease in a regular doc library, but not sure how to implement in a simple web part.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

How to create a asmx file for an existing project?

Hello all,

I am very much a beginner to ASP.NET and I received a library of files. Most of them are .cs files but there are also two .dll files and a .pdb file in the bin folder.

Unfortunately, the package did not come with a asmx file, or any kind of file that I can upload to my website and run. It came with a csproj file in the main directory, but I have been unable to figure out how to create an asmx file with it.

The script came from here: http://www.psnapi.com.ar/downloads.aspx

They have a free trial version that only includes the .dll and .pdb file I mentioned. I have bought the full version as I need this for my website scripts. However, I am at the end of my rope because I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this working - even though it says it is web ready. I've contacted the author, but have yet to receive a reply in the past couple of days.

Any help, or where to start, would be most appreciated.

Date and Time Functions in SQLSERVER

Date and time functions allow you to manipulate columns and variables with DATETIME and SMALLDATETIME data types.

Data Types - Date and Time in SqlServer

Date and time values can be stored with either the DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME data type. The difference between the two is that SMALLDATETIME supports a smaller range of dates and does not give the same level of precision when accounting for time. The DATETIME data type can hold values from January 1st of 1753 to December 31st of 9999. The time is stored to the 1 three hundredths of a second and each value takes up 8 bytes of storage. The SMALLDATETIME data type can hold values between January 1st 1900 and June 6th of 2079. The time is tracked to the minute and each value takes up 4 bytes of storage. The majority of business applications can live happily with SMALLDATETIME, however, if you are in an environment where each second matters or you need to make estimates to the distant future (or past) then you have to resort to DATETIME. If you fail to specify the time when inserting a value into a DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME column, a default of midnight is used. If you fail to specify the date portion the default of January 1, 1900 is used.

Built-in Functions - Date and Time Functions

Date and time functions allow you to manipulate columns and variables with DATETIME and SMALLDATETIME data types.

The essential date and time functions that every SQL Server database should have to ensure that you can easily manipulate dates and times without the need for any formatting considerations at all.

Date/Time Conversions Using SQL Server

There are many instances when dates and times don't show up at your doorstep in the format you'd like it to be, nor does the output of a query fit the needs of the people viewing it. One option is to format the data in the application itself. Another option is to use the built-in functions SQL Server provides to format the date string for you.

Date and Time Data Types and Functions

The following sections in this topic provide an overview of all Transact-SQL date and time data types and functions. For information and examples that are common to date and time data types and functions

How can I be sure that my entire project is up-to-date and free of errors in VS2010?

Seems like a stupid question, but I will go to Build > Build Solution many many times and the build will succeed many many times, then I will put in a minor syntax error and the build will fail, BUT the build will not fail because of the minor syntax error; it will fail because of an unresolved type that I put in about twenty compiles ago. And then I will fix the minor syntax eror, and the compiler will still complain about the unresolved type. Here is my code:

<%@ Register TagPrefix="FTB" Namespace="FreeTextBoxControls" Assembly="FreeTextBox" %>
  <form runat="server">
  Hello World!!

Pretty simple, really. I go to Buld > Build WebApplication1 and it runs OK. Now, if I put in a minor syntax error, such as substitute "forrrrrrrm" for "form" and then try to Build Solution, it complains not about the misspelled word, but about the FreeTextBox. And then if I correct the misspelled wird, it still complains about the FreeTextBox. Which leads me to believe that Building the Solution does not check absolutely 100% everything that needs to be checked. Is there a more thorough way of compiling a program that I need to use?

SqlDataSource how to change the stored procedures at run time

Is it possible to change the select, insert and update stored procedure of an SqlDataSource at run time. I don't mean to change the definition of the stored procedure, but I mean to change the assignment, i.e. To change the select stored procedure from "selectSP1" to "selectSP2" at run time. Is it possible?

Convert Update Date/Time to VB.NET

I was wondering if someone could convert this into VB.NET for me.  I'm not a PHP pro and not entirely sure what's happening here nor do I know how to get this to display the same way.

The new field is within a DetailsView, so you can give me example code as well, I'll greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.. -Jeff

	$nowDays = floor(time() / 86400);
