Application to Constantly query Table Values and Refresh with most recent value

Hello, I must apologize in advance because I am not sure if this is the correct place for this question. I am looking for ideas on how to build an application that in the most basic sense contains a field with the most current data from a table in a SQL Server database (this would be based off of a datetime timestamp in the table). I am new to this kind of problem and am unsure where to start looking for solution ideas. The table value updates variably and could possibly update every second to every hour. I would like to design an application that would be lightweight to both the server and the user's machine. This would take the place of an unneeded report on my Reporting Services server. Any and all suggestions would be welcome because I am not sure of options I even have on this. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration, Matt

Values in user control fields empty when AutoEventWireup=true ?

As a BizTalk developer I'm trying to build a ASP.NET website so some obvious things might be new to me (so please be gentle). I have a web form and I have a user control on it. This user control contains a panel with some user properties that are to be stored in a database. So far nothing fancy. The user control itself contains a panel and is working fine (all code to retrieve and store the values is working). I used the default settings of creating a user control and one of them was AutoEventWireup=true. This works fine because I also have some dropdown boxes (and other fields) that need to be filled with values from the database and that happens in the Page_load event. The panel specifies the 'DefaultButton' which calls a method when clicked to save the values after the user has changed them. On this click the code of the method is called, I confirmed that, but I found out that the values of my controls on the user control (for example the Textbox control) are empty. As a non-ASP.NET developer I couldn't figure out why. So I changed some settings like AutoEventWireup to false. Off course this resulted in my dropdown boxes no longer to be initially filled, but my surprise was big to find out my controls actually contained the values the user typed in. How do you add duplicate fields to a SSRS custom report and receive differtent output values.

I have built a custom report in SSRS 2008 using fields for supplier and customer.   I have added a Parent Row Group using the Supplier field for the group expression and used the Customer Details as my child details group. This returns a list of all customers for each supplier.   (Supplier | = Customer details ( Name, Dob etc.)   How would I add an additional Supplier field to the customer details returning only values for other Suppliers used by a customer, not the value of the Supplier listed in the Parent Group?

Need to add hard coded values to LINQ query result

I am running a LINQ query which populates a list used by a DropDownList, I need to insert an "Unassigned" value to the list. The function below queries the values correctly from the db but does not insert the "Unaasinged" value to the list. How to query for id's of the fields with List Data Retrival Services Query() web service

Since i marked a post as answer in my previous topic, it seems that people dont visit the topic anymore as they see it as "answered" while it actually is only partially answered. So i guess i have to ask again in a different topic.    I need to get data from Sharepoint Server (3.0 i belive) for my Integration Services project. For that i use Sharepoint's webservices. I've read tutorials and downloaded sample programs to talk to WSS web services. I realise i have two ways to get items in a list: Use Query() or GetListItems(). Problem is, GetListItems() has a mandatory "Row limit" field and i might have to import ALOT of fields, so i thought Query() is better for me.  But, when using GetListItems(), the WSS returns the ID of the fields (for example, for a field of type user, something like "395;Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich" is returned) but when using Query() for the same list, WSS returns only the field value ("Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich") without the ID. I need it to return the ID as well. How can i set it up, on my side or server side, so i would receive the ID's, not only the values of the fields that are actually linking to something by ID when i use Query() web service?     

Why do we need Common view fields in content query web part?

I am a bit confused on the purpose of "CommonViewFields" in CQWP. Almost all the write-ups on the web says that if we need a custom column to be available in the web part's XSL, we need to export the webpart file, add the columns to "CommonViewFields", import the web part to the site. However I noticed that, when I create a custom style template in my "ItemStyle.xsl" and simply add a line like <xsl:value-of select="@MyCustomColmn"/>, then "MyCustomColumn" appears automatically under "Fields to display" in the tool pane as a text box prompt, when I edit the web part and select my style template. I can then simply fill-in my column display name under "MyCustomColumn" and the web part works perfectly fine. (There is NO NEED to export the web part, edit the ".webpart" file and add "commonviewfields" etc..etc..etc) If this works, then what is the real need for "commonviewfields" ? Can someone shed light on this? I am totally confused.. (SharePoint 2010)          

query negative and positive values and not their boolean counterpart

Good Day Need help.. I have this simple table, CREATE TABLE [dbo].[sample] ( [id] [int] NOT NULL , [number] [int] NULL , ) ON [PRIMARY] i wanted to make a select query that would display two columns(positive, negative) the sql statement that i made: "select (sample.number > 0) as positive, (sample.number < 0) as negative from sample " what happened is that, it displays the boolean counterpart and not the value.. I wanted to show this kind of data: substitute the "False" value into 0 and "-1/true" value with the exact absolute numerical value.   |debit||credit| |   0   ||  200 | |   0   ||  57   | |   50 ||  0     |   is this possible?

For simple calculations I assume it's based on the types of the fields composing the query as they are defined in their tables, but what about a calculated field in this form, for example: isnull(field-name,-99)? How to Create an MDX Query Parameter to Select 30 Values from a Dimension?

Hi, I'm using SSRS 2005 to report on an SSAS cube that contains a Procedure dimension.  I don't need to use members of this dimension in my report, but rather need to select records (patients) where their chart has one or more of the codes.  I've researched this today and cannot locate the best approach.  Thus far, I've attempted to create an MDX query parameter as part of my dataset.  However, I don't know whether this is the correct approach, and how to structure the syntax so that only records with one or more procedures are included in the report?  If so, what is the proper MDX syntax for setting my Procedure code equal to the query parameter? Analysis Service Oracle Number inconsistent Data Type for TABLE or Named Query

Dear Gurus, I'd VERY OLD PROBLEM. And I believe it addressed since 2006. When I design DataSource Views from Oracle Data Source. I found it return different oracle number data type for TABLE or NAMED QUERY   Provider Data Type Column Data Type Data Source View Data Type Oracle OLE DB Provider (OraOLEDB.Oracle.1) Table Number System.Int64   View Number System.Decimal   Named Querey Number System.Decimal Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle (MSDAORA.1) Table Number System.Double   View Number System.Double   Named Query   1 System.Int64   Named Query   1.1234 System.Int64 Althought I know I can fix IT via MANUALLY EDIT DATASOURCE VIEW XML SOURCE. But I don't think this is a better solution. Is anybody have ideas ?  Wilson

Wierd case of: Msg 213, Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition

Hi, I'm working on several triggers (that happen after insert or update) in order to log the changes in a different table. They all follow a similar syntax and are working fine, except for this one... I've reduced the next code to the minimum that gives an error, so we can safely assume the other parts of the trigger are working fine. INSERT INTO [Adt].[WardUnitStayLog] SELECT t.* FROM [Adt].[WardUnitStay] t INNER JOIN inserted i ON i.[Id] = t.[Id]; I've used this same syntax (but on different tables) in other triggers, and these are working perfectly fine. The above query provides the next error: Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition. I've checked both tables for differences in the columns, but to no avail... Null values in formula fields

System.Reflection: How to use the name of fields within classes to get the values?

Visitors { get; set; } ... } At some point in my program, I need to gather the  Visitor stats and create a report table.List<VisitorStat> visitorStats = GetVisitorStats(startDate, endDate);   My issue is this: Because there are many rows in the table, rather than hard coding the name for each row as: "PageViews", "Visits", "Visitors"...
