Problem with list controls and update progress template

I have an update panel that surrounds a wizard control which I use in conjunction with a update progress control. Now my update progress control works perfectly, with my animated gif and div tag that lays over my wizard control when the user goes from step to step. However, there is a problem that I am struggling to solve. A number of my steps use controls like list boxes, and when the update progress control fires, the list control is not laying underneath my div an animated gif no matter how high a make my css z-index on the div.

Does anyone have a way of solving this?

AJAX update panel and update progress controls

I have writtena Crystal reports web application, that prompts ths user for parameters and then apply them and exports the report to a folder as .rpt and then display the report. I prompt the parameters on one screen and then display the report on another page. I have the AJAX update panel and update progress controls in the parameter page. When the user enters the parameters and click on ok, I export the report and then loads the report to a session report document and transfer the user to the second page where the report is displayed. I use the following code to do transfer to the seconds page. I have excluded the report load and parameter assign code here.rpt.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.CrystalReport, "c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Session("rpt") = New ReportDocument Session("rpt").load("c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Response.Redirect("show.aspx") In the second page I have the following: rptViewer.reportsource = Session("rpt") My problem is this works one time and then stops working the second. What I found out was it comes to the statement: Response.Redirect("show.aspx") But it does not even load the show.aspx page. It stays on the parameter page. There are no errors displayed. I could not see any errors when I debug the application also. And out of the blue it works

Update progress within a datalist

I have an update panel and then a datalist and then a nested datalist...it looks like this:   <update panel>      <datalist1>            <datalist2>            </datalist2>      </datalist> </updatepanel>   Problem is, within datalist 2, I have some linkbutton's and I'd like to show a progress "gif" (update progress) when the button is clicked.  I can create the update progress, but when you click the button, you get the "gif" shown for every item in the nested datalist.  Anyone know how I can identify where I am in the datalist (which linkbutton) and only show the progress "gif" for that button? Thanks in advance for any help! Mike

Use update progress control to change image control imageurl

UPDATE: Apologies for the previous formatting error - hopefully the post is now more readable... Hi I have a button with an image control next to it. Before the button is clicked, the image control "ConfirmedStatusImage" shows a "cancel.png" image. When the button has been clicked (and some other code successfully executed), then I change the imageurl for the "theConfirmedStatusImage" to show a "ok.png" image. Quite a bit of time can often pass between clicking the button and the associated code executing, so I have an ajax update progress control that shows a "bluespinner.gif" image while the page is updating after the button click. At the moment, the update progress updating image appears next to the "ConfirmedStatusImage" control. However, I would like to change things so that when the update progress starts, the imageurl of "ConfirmedStatusImage" changes from "cancel.png" to the update progress image (i.e., the "bluespinner.gif"). Then, when the update is complete, then the image should change to the "ok.png" image. My question is: how can I achieve this? As far as I can tell, the update progress control does not have any events that I can hook into. Also, placing the "ConfirmedStatusImage" inside the ProgressTemplate would not work either, as this only displays

Update progress animation

I have an update progress control that I use to overlay an updatepanel. It has an animated gif that is displayed. The animated gif doesn't not work though unless I add system.threading.thread.sleep([seconds]) . Obviously I don't want to do that. Is there something I need to do to get the gif to work or is it just the nature of the beast? Here is the code for the update progress. It is triggered by an update panel that has a control that updates another update panel. <asp:UpdateProgress id="UpdateProgress1" runat="server" AssociatedUpdatePanelID="UpdatePanel2" DisplayAfter="1"> <progresstemplate> <DIV class="LoadingOverlay"></DIV> <DIV class="LoadingMessage">Loading...<BR /><IMG src="../../../helpdesk/img/progress.gif" /> </DIV> </progresstemplate> </asp:UpdateProgress>

How to close a flyout in update panel

I am using a flyout to show info, it opens with a javascript function, I put the whole content of flyout in updatepanle so that some elements can be updated without whole page reload, on close buttons both asp:button and ordinary html button are not functioning .If I remove update panel whenever I click close buttons ( both asp or html button ) the page gets refreshed. <asp:Button ID="closefly2" BackColor="Transparent" BorderWidth="0px" BorderColor="Transparent" ForeColor="White" runat="server" Text="Stäng" OnClientClick="javascript:<%=infoflyout.getClientID()%>.close();" /> <button id="closeInfoFO1" title ="Close" onclick ="infoflyout.close();return true;">Close</button> How can I close my flyout simply in the way that it opens by javascript and not with postback?

Unable to update records using IN clause

Hi, I've a common function as shown below: public int ExecuteNonQuery(string text, params IDataParameter[] parameters) { DbCommand command = new SqlCommand(); command.CommandText = text; command.CommandType = type; command.Connection = conn; command.Transaction = null; foreach (IDataParameter parameter in parameters) { command.Parameters.Add(parameter); } return command.ExecuteNonQuery(); } public IDataParameter CreateParameter(string name, object value) { if (!name.StartsWith("@")) name = "@" + name; DbParameter parameter = new SqlParameter(name, value); if (value == DBNull.Value) parameter.IsNullable = true; return parameter; }  When I want to update records in a table, I usually invoke as shwon below:// Assume you've a connection object IDataParameter param = conn.CreateParameter("vendor_id", vendorId); string query = "UPDATE table SET status=4 WHERE vendor_id = " + param.ParameterName; conn.ExecuteNonQuery(query, param); This code works fine. But when I'm trying to update multiple records using IN clause, it does not work. Can any one tell me how to do it using IN clause? I need to update all vendors ava

Unable to Set Control's Property After Update / PagePostBack

I'm trying to programmatically set the property of a control on my Form AFTER I've proccessed an update command using the FormView, but it's not working.

In my example below, I have a basic FormView with only a TextBox and Label in its EditItemTemplate.  The FormView uses an AccessDataSource.  The TextBox is bound to the datasource, but the label is not.  What I'm trying to do is update the value in the TextBox (as well as its associated data stored in the database), and then change the Text property of the Label. (*Note: that I using the label purely as an example. The point is I can't see to set any control's property after an update).

I initally thought it had something to do with the "Page.IsPostBack", but even after trying to adjust my code for that, its still not working.

I've tried change the Text property during the Page.IsPostBack during Page_Load event. I've tried setting the Label's EnabledViewState property to True and to False. I've tried using the FormView's OnItemUpdating and OnItemUpdated events. I've tried using the DataSource's OnUpdating and OnUpdated events.

Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Here's my sample code and Html:

<script language="VB" run

Unable to update EntitySet

I have tables Events and Visitors with relation many-to-many. I had such error: Unable to update the EntitySet 'Events_has_Visitors' because it has a DefiningQuery and no <InsertFunction> element exists in the <ModificationFunctionMapping> element to support the current operation.

I found similar problem at the Weblog of Ken Cox but it doesn't solve my problem. When I set primary key at Events_has_Visitors table and update Entity Model for some reason relation becomes 0..1 to *, but if I'll delete primary key - relation will become many-to-many again. But still doesn't work.

SP 2010 Unable to write to ULS Logs

I just started trying to implement ULS logging since it looks like there are some great APIs on 2010.. but for some reason when I execute this code below on the web app it does not write anything - I'm a little confused as to why nothing's getting logged! anyone else have this issue?

SPDiagnosticsService diagSvc = SPDiagnosticsService.Local; // so far so good...

diagSvc.WriteTrace( 0, new SPDiagnosticsCategory("Hello ULS",  TraceSeverity.Monitorable, EventSeverity.Error), TraceSeverity.Monitorable, "Writing to the ULS logs ain't happening.", null );

// the line above does not throw any error - it just just executes without ever writing anything!! same line is placed in a console app, and it works like a charm.

Note that I am writing this inside say a web part or other typical code areas where you'd want to log activity in a custom SP solution... the same exact code works like a charm on a console app, which makes me wonder why not on the solution code?.. any thoughts?

Unable to add member to a write-enabled dimension

I have a dimension TestDim that is write-enabled. It has two attributes, [Test Key] and [Value], with the key attribute being [Test Key]

I am trying to add a dimension member (SS Management Studio) using the ALTER CUBE statement below:

ALTER CUBE TestCube CREATE DIMENSION MEMBER [TestDim].[5000], KEY='[TestDim].[Value Key].[500]', [Value]='5000';

I get this error:

Query (1, 45) The '[5000]' member was not found in the cube when the string, [TestDim].[5000], was parsed.

What is wrong with the above statement ?

TCP Client/Server communication: NetworkStream.Write() send partial data unless close() method is re

Hi to all,
I wrote a simple client-server application that comunicate through NetworkStream class. The problems comes when stream.close() and client.close() methods are called. It look like only the first 10415 bytes are sent once those methods are called. So, if the data to send is more than this size, it is automatically truncated.

If I  remove both stream/client close() methods from the code, the data is fully received whatever the size is. I tried various alternative solutions (the ones marked as comments in the sample code), but none of them works.
The only thing that seems to work is adding a manual delay before the close() methods execute with something like that:

For Counter as integer = 0 to 10

The problem is that after delay I still don't know if all the data has been transfered or not. In addition to that, I will have to wait 10 seconds before sending another request, even if the response is just a few bytes of data. I could change at runtime the number of seconds to wait according to the size of the data to send, but I still think that delay is not a solution and will cause adverse effects.

So, for now the only working solution is to remove both Stream/Client Close() methods from
