MDX Query - Get (Parent-Child) Dimension member regarding another Parent-Child Dimension, then, get

Hi there, I got the following MDX issue. My cube structure looks like that : DIMENSION CATEGORY (Parent-Child) --> (Many to many) FCTLESS_CategoryNode <-- DIMENSION NODE (Parent-Child) ___ DIMENSION NODE (Parent-Child) --> (Many to many) FCTLESS_NodeVariable <-- DIMENSION VARIABLE ___ DIMENSION VARIABLE <-- FACT (Supposed with only one value called VALUE) I'd like aggregate for N nodes linked to a specific category. For example, with the next content : DIMENSION CATEGORY - COUNTRY - SITE - BUILDING DIMENSION NODE US (Category Country)     - Site US_A (Category Site)     - Building US_A_A  (Category Building) FR (Category Country)     - Site FR_A (Category Site)     - Building FR_A_A  (Category Building)                                       - Site FR_A (Category Site)     - Building FR_A_B  (Category Building)                                       - Site FR_B (Category Site)

Changing the caption on a named set member

I have created a named set that is made up of multiple other sets.  These represent dates: (Current Day, Prior Day, Prior Month and Prior Year).  I would like for each set member to have the names above instead of the member names associated with the actual members.  So, instead of member captions of '2/2/2010', '2/1/2010', etc, I'd like the set to return the captions as 'Curr Day", "Prior Day", "Prior Month", "Prior year"). I know that normally, you can't rename members, but I am hoping I can rename the captions on the individual sets that make up my 'rollup set'.  Here's how the sets look: dynamic set [Today] as filter([Process Date].[Process Dates].[Process Date], [Process Date].[Process Dates].properties("Is Current Date")="Y"),caption='Curr Day' dynamic set [Yesterday] as [Today].item(0).PrevMember,caption='Prior Day' dynamic set [Prior ME] as [Today].item(0).Parent.PrevMember,CAPTION='Prior ME' dynamic set [Prior YE] as [Today].item(0).Parent.Parent.Parent.PrevMember,caption='Prior YE' dynamic set [Period Comparison Dates] as [Prior YE] + [Prior ME] + [Yesterday] + [Current Process Date] This works great but the member names are the actual dates, not the "Period comparison" labels I'd like to have.  As you can see, I

Analysis Service Oracle Number inconsistent Data Type for TABLE or Named Query

Dear Gurus, I'd VERY OLD PROBLEM. And I believe it addressed since 2006. When I design DataSource Views from Oracle Data Source. I found it return different oracle number data type for TABLE or NAMED QUERY   Provider Data Type Column Data Type Data Source View Data Type Oracle OLE DB Provider (OraOLEDB.Oracle.1) Table Number System.Int64   View Number System.Decimal   Named Querey Number System.Decimal Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle (MSDAORA.1) Table Number System.Double   View Number System.Double   Named Query   1 System.Int64   Named Query   1.1234 System.Int64 Althought I know I can fix IT via MANUALLY EDIT DATASOURCE VIEW XML SOURCE. But I don't think this is a better solution. Is anybody have ideas ?  Wilson

Named Set And Calculated Member within Analysis Services Cube project

Hi there.

I have got the mdx below (titled as MDX In QUERY SsMS) that works fine in SQL Management studio.

I am battling to include it in my Analysis Services project.

Following the logic in the mdx query, I have created the 3 named set and one calculated member (You will see them below), but with no luck.

Please any guidance will do, I desperatly need to include it in my cube

//Get Weeks with sales
[WeeksWithSales] as '
{[Product].[Product Hierarchy].[SKU DESCR]
,([Measures].[SLS R]) >0)}

//the first week
[FirstWeek] as 'HEAD([WeeksWithSales],1)'

[LastWeek] as
[NumWeeks] as 'count([FirstWeek].item(0).item(1):[LastWeek].item(0))'

[NumWeeks] on 0
 (select [Product].[Product Hierarchy].[SKU DESCR].&[BALL BRIDGESTONE 08 E7 +]&[1041597] on 0
 from (select ([FinancialDate].[Financial Calendar].[FINANCIAL MONTH].&[FY2010_MONTH06].parent.parent) on 0
   from [TPSMerch]))

New DSV named query or copy and reuse an existing cube dimensions (is the latter valid) - SSAS 2008

I have a [DateAsAt] table in the DSV. This is linked to 3 fact tables to analyse and slice them from an as at date perspective (lets call them FactA, FactB and FactC). But I want to reuse this dimensions (almost like an alias) and although I have tried this and it seems to work, I just want to follow some due dilligence to make sure what I am doing is valid.

I have not created a new Named Calculation for a new date dimension that will be used in a Transactional way (not an as at way), and in stead simply copied the [DateAsAt] dimension, and pasted it back into the dimensions section of the cube (the default name it was given was [DateAsAt 1], but I changed it to [DateTransaction].

Although the relationship between the [DateTransaction] dimenion's source in the DSV (I.e. [DateAsAt]) is linked to FactA, FactB and FactC, I set a new dimension relationship between [DateTransaction] and FactTransactionD in the Dimension Usage area of the cube.

Is this valid? or MUST I create a seperate source for [DateTransaction] in the DSV and set its relationships there?

MDX Query runs endless if the User is not a member of the Domain Admin Group

Please, before you say "its not possible" read my post. Myself, i couldnt believe it, until i saw the behaviour with my own eyes.
Environment: SSAS 2005, tested with a MDX Query executed in the SQL Server Management Studio.

We deliver a CUBE (SSAS 2005) that we have build for our Billing System (SQL 2005). Nothing tricky on the cube definition. The cube is installed on several customer systems, runs without a problem. On our in-house test server it runs with no problem. I can execute the same MDX Query connected as a User who is a Member of the Domain Admins and with a User who is a "simple" Domain User. The same query performance, the same Resultset, experienced in-house and by many of our customer.

But on the system of one of our customer i have a really strange behaviour. If i connect on the SQL Management Studio with a User that is in the Domain Admin Role (let's call it user "A") the same MDX Query that we use in-house runs without a problem. But on the customer system i cant execute the MDX Query with a User that is not a Member of the Domain Admin Role (let's call this user "B").
The simple Domain User "B" starts the SQL Management Studio and connects to the Analysis Services Instance. No error. In the SQL Management Studio, on the left pane it has the same metadata, dimensions and members

CAML query to check if user is member of a specific group

I've got a nested query caml which basically should check 3 things:

  1. Check if a task has been assigned directly to the ucrrent user
  2. Check if a task has been assigned to a group the user is in
  3. Check if the user is member of a specific

The first to bullet points work like a charm, but I can't figure out how to get the last one to work. Here is what I thought should work:

query += "<Where>";
query += "<Eq><Membership Type=\"CurrentUserGroups\">";
query += "<Value Type=\"String\">Name of my specific group</Value>";
query += "</Membership></Eq>";
query += "</Where>";

Somehow it doesn't seem to be the correct approach, is there somebody who can help me out on this? Thanks

Is cube limit the number of calculation member?

I develop new application and user can create new calculation member. So some one can tell me "how many Calculation member a cube can contain?"

Much thanks.

SET statement in named calculation

I'm trying to include the following query in the DSV, as a named calcluation or through named query. But both the options are not working.

A better way to reference your wizard steps using named steps

Note: this article uses the plain vanilla but the concepts apply equally well to its popular counterpart .

By far the most common way that I see wizard steps reference in code snippets is by their index.

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.

.NET 3.5 Adds Named Pipes Support

you want a named pipe server, all you have to do is create some instances of NamedPipeServerStream to handle each client connection. I stole the following code straight from the MSDN documentation.
