SSRS 2008 Help Setting Up Multiple URLs

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I have a new SSRS 2008 installation that currently only has the default URL setup (http://computername:80/Reports).  I am trying to setup a second URL to be accessed by the intranet.  I want it to be a more generic name such as http://finance.  I have tried adding a second host name but when I do that it just says the page is not available.  What do I need to do in order to get this setup?  Do I need a registered domain name?  I have no clue where to start.

Help Passing Multiple Parameters Via a URL in SSRS 2008

Hello Everyone, I'm totally and completely confused as to how to pass multiple paramters through a URL.  Book Online is absolutely no help because they do not offer any examples of passing multiple paramters within a URL.  Instead, I get confused over RENDER and COMMAND and what should be repeated where with each paramter and on and on and on. Here's my URL: javascript:void(window.open('http://sereporting01.wdig.com/ReportServer?%2fDOL%2fTEST%2fDisney+Sell-Through&rs:Command=Render&SiteName=Disney,InsertionType=300 x 250,Context=ROS','_blank','resizable=yes,toolbar=0,menubar=0')) What happens is that JavaScript opens a new window but I get a "Reporting Services Error".  I'm assuming it's because my URL parameters are not correct.  Can someone please just give me the correct syntax so that I can get on with my work? I'm editing this post to add - I'm also confused as to how paramters are supposed to be passed through to a report when default paramters are set up in the report which i'm trying to open with the URL.  Should I remove the default paramaters from the report or...what? Again, BOL offers no help on this issue and it just seems to generate more questions.  Thanks!!

Problems setting up SSL on SSRS 2008

I've managed to run into a pretty specific problem while setting up SSL on SSRS 2008.  I'm using a self-signed certificate for testing purposes, and just finished reinstalling Reporting Services to clear out any problems I introduced in earlier flailing about. If I set up SSL only connections for the Web Service URL and Report Manager URL, the ReportServer address works fine with https, but the Reports address returns this error: The remote name could not be resolved: <server url> However, if I then set up an http address for the Web Service URL, they both work fine. Going into the reportserver.config file at this point, I can switch the SecureConnectionLevel parameter to a value of 2, and the Reports address again fails with the same error. I have put an address in the URLRoot section of reportserver.config, but whatever I put does not seem to have an effect on this problem.  Also, I'm not trying to do anything with the reports, only navigate to the directory, so the URLRoot section should not have any impact. The URLReservations section of reportserver.config looks like this (I've replaced the server URL and taken out the AccountSID and AccountName fields):     <URLReservations>         <Application>             <Name&g

Doubt on WorkingSetMinimum setting in SSRS 2008 configuration file

Hello All,

I have been reading about memory settings for SSRS 2008 for better performance in this link.                                                          http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159206.aspx  WorkingSetMinimum definition here says that "Specifies a lower limit for resource consumption; the report server will not release memory if overall memory use is below this limit."

Now, I have set the WorkingSetMinimum value as 2.4GB and when I am executing a report with 300K records, I observed in Perfmon that it has consumed around 1GB of available memory during report run time but the report server has not acquired the designated memory of 2.4GB in WorkingSetMinimum as I can see more memory as available MB than the value supposed to be after dedicating minimum memory of 2.4 GB to report server.

  1. My first question, has report server not acquired the minimum memory configured in WorkingSetMinimum because it didn't required that much memory to construct the report? &nb

SSRS 2008: Multiple Sub-Reports with conditional visibility in one List control

MainReport: a List containing two Sub-Reports. The data of the List only has two rows. Set the visibility of the sub-report based on the data.

SubReport1: a textbox showing "Sub Report 1"

SubReport2: a textbox showing "Sub Report 2"

I expect to see SubReport1 in Page 1 and SubReport2 in Page 2.

But I only see SubReport1 in Page 1 and Page 2 is a blank page.

These reports work in SSRS 2005, but not in SSRS 2008.

Report Definition:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Report xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner

Can't SSRS 2008 handle stored procedures which return multiple tables?

I tried it and it only returns the first table.

Any suggestion?

Thank you,

Trouble installing SSRS 2008 R2, XP Pro SP3, can't access Web Service or Report Manager URLs

I found a great thread by Uday titled "SQL 2008 Reporting Services Win XP SP2" and worked through it, but I am still stumped.

I am using port 8080 cause this was default.  I tried changeing to 80, but it didn't help, so changed back.  IIS is using port 80 and is currently stopped.

I see both databases in SQL Server and can query while logged in as Account that is used for the service account.  SSRS is running.

URL reservations look good in the rsreportserver.config file.  In Native mode.

While in RS Config Manger I can test database connection and it is good.  When I click the webservice URL or the Report Manger URL in the Config Manager I get errors "Web site can not be found" and "Website can not display page"  I just upgraded to IE 8.  Can't figure out what to do next.

When I use httpcfg.exe I see a URL for http://+:8080/ReportServer/   and http://+:80/Reports/.  This could be the problem.  How can I chages seconfd to port 8080?

Any help would be appreciated.

Can we show a line chart on multiple pages with page breaks? SSRS 2008

Hi there,

I am using SSRS 2008. I have a line chart which queries a huge dataset and shows the datapoints really close to each other that the labels and grid-lines are overlapping onto each other. http://oi54.tinypic.com/2vifrb9.jpg

Data driven subscriptions need to use multiple "From" addresses - SSRS 2008

Is it possible to create a data driven subscription that supplies the from address based on which brand of my company is sending out the email? Or even if I'm representing a single brand, I need to use different email addresses such as customerservice or accounting or system.admin, etc. This cannot be a rare situation, what do all of you do to address this concern? Am I missing something obvious?

Multiple reports straight to pdf (SSRS 2008)

Hello, I have successfully written code to generate a server report straight to a pdf document. I did this using Report.Render(...) and then writing the result with Response.BinaryWrite. This works fine. The thing I would like to do now is this: On the webpage the user sees a tree with about 20-30 reports on it. I would like the user be able to select which reports he wants to see (using the tree check boxes) and then when he hits print one pdf document is generated with all the selected reports on it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Legend Display Setting in SSRS 2008

In SSRS 2008 when you have only one series , it displays the name of series in legend series 1. But when you have more than one series group it displays with the true series name in legend box. However, in SSRS 2005 for the same report ,legend box displays the true series name whether I have one or many series groups. Is there any way to control how legend displays the selected series name insteady of  "series 1" in SSRS 2008? What I want to do is replacing "series 1" with "Quarter1" in legend box in SSRS 2008.

Below is how legend displays series group in SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2008 respectively,

Quarter 1

Quarter 2

How to sum multiple values in column in SSRS 2008

Hi all,

Stuck on a reporting services issue when it comes to summing multiple values from a column.

I have created a table in SSRS (VS 2008) where one of the cells computes its value from summing all the values in column X. All the values in column X are expressions (Parameters!pABC.Value * Fields!DEF.Value).

How do I write an expression in cell A that will sum all the values that result in column X when the report is run? Do I need to write custom code for this?

Number of rows/Values in column X is dynamic.

All help much appreciated! Thank you!

Setting accessibility mode for multiple web applications

We have a SharePoint farm consisting of 5 web applications. These are tied together through branding and a custom sitemapprovider which present the farm as a single environment to end users. Our visually disabled users however have to enable the accessibility mode for each web application. Which is a nuisance, ideally they would only have to enable once for the complete farm. Does anybody have a solution for this problem.

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

SQL 2008 servers and MOSS 2007 with SSRS

I need help figuring out the limitations in a multi-database server environment and MOSS 2007 installation with SSRS.  Here is the run down:

  • I currently have MOSS 2007 server with backend on SQL 2005, which also acts as the SSRS server.  In addition I have another SQL 2005 server where business data resides and against which most of the SSRS reports run.
  • Future plan (over which I don't really have a say) is MOSS 2007 with backend on SQL 2008, which will remain to be the SSRS server.  The second SQL server with business data will be migrated to SQL 2008 R2.

Questions: does this architecture requires SSRS 2008 add-in or SSRS 2008 R2 add-in (integrated mode)?  Will there be an issue of building SSRS 2008 reports that go after SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 data mix?

Need help with setting up SQL Server 2008 for role/user management

I've posted my problem in a few other categories.  Sorry for that.  I didn't see the security category until now.

I'm trying to use ASP.NET's built-in role/user management for a couple ASP.NET MVC 2 sites.  I'm using the MVCMusicStore as my guide.  I click on the Configuration Tool as the tutorial suggests, which launches the site administration page.  Unfortunately when I click on the security tab, I get an error that it cannot connect to the data store.  Attempting to test the AspNetSqlProvider gives me a similar error.

I've run the aspnet_regsql program as the error message suggested, and I have a role/user management database ready to go on the server.  The proper tables are constructed, and all that.  The configuration tool still doesn't see the data store.

As a test, I ran the MVCMusicStore demo in the debugger.  Its role/user management functionality worked.  I was able to add myself as a customer, and add/remove items from my cart with no errors or exceptions.  However, when I attempted to access its security tab in the configuration tool, I received the same error as I get for my own project.  How is it possible that role/user management works, but the configuration tool cannot change its settings?

Any suggestions on how I can get the configuration t

SSRS 2008 Graph Type?

Greetings -

I am required to plot the following graph in an SSRS report.

Sum of Total Credits to be shown on Positive side and total sum of Debits for a month on negative side. I have created a query which retrieves all the expenses for the month and sums them up before feeding the same to the graph for plotting. Both values returned are positive integers.

(Sorry for the diagram below, i tried to paste an image but it didn't work)

SSRS 2008 date validation

Hello, Perhaps somone can shed some light on this. I want to make sure the user doesn't set a Startdate > EndDate  in a report. I've done some thing like this: Go to the Report Properties under the Report menu and place this code to the Code Tab. Public Function CheckDate(SDate as Date, EDate as Date) as Integer Dim msg as String msg = "" If (SDate > EDate) Then msg="Start Date should not be later than End Date" End If If msg <> "" Then MsgBox(msg, 16, "Parameter Validation Error") Err.Raise(6,Report) 'Raise an overflow End If End Function Then go to the Report Parameters and Add named it XXX with the datatype is string. Checked the Hidden and Allow blank value ckeckboxes. In Available Values choose Non-Queried and from Default Values choose Non-Queried in right side of textbox then press the FX button then paste this code. =CODE.CheckDate( .Value) But I'm having problems with the =CODE.CheckDate( .Value)  syntax. SSRS errors out. Any suggestions/insights? --joe
