Reports are not showing on management studio for SQL 2008 reporting services

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I just did the side by side upgrade for reproting server from 2005 to 2008 and everything was fine. But when I login to the reporting server from management studio I am not able to see the report server folders like we do in SQL 2005. The only think i saw is jobs, security and shared schedules. I dont even see any jobs under this jobs folder. Do i need to do anything after the upgrade to be able to see the reports, subscriptions and data sources from the management studio? please let me know. Thanks!  kp

Connecting to SQL Server Reporting services using SQL Server Management Studio

I have problem connecting to reporting services from SSMS, it used to work before, but recently in the rsreportserver.config file <UrlRoot>http........</UrlRoot> was changed to a different one. After that I had problem connecting to reporting services. We need that URL retained in the config file, if anyone know any work around to get into SSRS, please let me know.

I am getting an error that, the remote name could not be resolved: 'xxxxx.xxx.com' (Here it is showing the new URL that is in the config file)

Rendering Reports in Reporting Services 2008 in Sharepoint Integrated Mode

I have created a site collection using the Report Center template. I successfully deployed my VS2008 Reporting Servivces project to the Sharepoint site. However, when I goto the reports library and attempt to run a report I get "unknown error" message"

Also, I can create a dashboard consisting of one of my reports. However, when I attempt to view the reports via the dashboard, I get the following error message:

An error occurred during client rendering.

The target location you specified is not supported by the report server. A report definition (.rdl), report model (.smdl), resource, or shared data source (.rsds) file must be located within a library or a folder within it.

How to connect to local instance of SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express ?

I just installed SQL Server 2008 Management studio Express on my Vista machine.

i tried connecting to local machine using :

.\sqlexpress, (local)\sqlexpress, or .\SQLExpress, MyPCNAME\SQLExpress

nothing is working, getting this error:

Cannot connect to PC-NAME\SQLEXPRESS. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

Tables not showing in Management Studio Express

Hi all

(needing help!)

Have used Visual Web Developer 2008 to make ASP application, with SQL server 2008 R2 Express for database. Works very nicely.

However, when I come to use Management Studio Express 2008 R2, I cannot see all my tables.

The ones I CAN see were created by the MS script that creates membership tables (and are called dbo.aspnet_membership etc), presumably because the owner of the tables was specified as 'dbo'.

The ones I can't see from Management Studio are the ones I created. I never specified an owner.

I think this is a permissions issue, but I can't fathom it. There's only ever been me on my development machine (laptop) doing it all, hence always the same log ins.

Running Management Studio as Adminstrator doesn't help.

I can't even ask Management Studio who own's the tables that I can't see because Management Studio can't see them so rejects the script.

Any ideas/links very (very) welcome !

**** Actually, it is even wierder. The tables in Management Studio have full structure, but are empty. But if I look at them in Visual Basic 2008 they are full !!!  And...if I create a table in Management Studio it does not appear at all in Visual Basic, and likewise, a table created in Visual Basic does not appear at all in Management

Excessive Deadlocking Reporting Services 2008 Integrated.

Hi, we have a major issue with deadlocking on our reporting Server TEMPDB (REPORTSERVERTEMPDB). The platform is a Sharepoint Integrated platform allong the following lines 2 WFE Servers (NLB) 2 Sharepoint application servers 2 SQL Reporting Services (NLB) Cluster hosting Sharepoint DB's Cluster hosting Reporting Services DB's and the Data. This error is occuring for both manually running reports via sharepoint and load testing, and is happening on our testing platform as well which is slightly different in configuration. Reported back to the users is "An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database" Running a profile with 1224 set, we are finding deadlocks on the REPORTSERVERTEMPDB on PK_SNAPSHOTDATA. We have tried the following 1. Dropping the PK - The deadlock was then showing an OBJID which we could not identify. 2. Change the database properties to READ-COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT and ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION to ON 3. Re-create and change the PK to ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS OFF None have these have had an impact on the issue This has become apparent since the following actions were taken 1. The setting of caching has been enabled by the developers 2. The Report Server DB's were moved from the Sharepoint Cluster to the Data Cluster. I do have an XDL file from Profiler but it is to

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Windows service can't use Reporting Services on SQL Service 2008 R2

Hello. I have a Windows service that run as Local System account. The service uses the Reporting Services ReportService2005.asmx web service. When I have SQL Server 2008 installed, I have no problems and my service is able to browse and create report. After I have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 I get the error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." when the service tries to use the web service. If I change my service to log on as a user with administrator rights, it is able to use Reposting Services again. What has changes in SQL Server 2008 R2, that doesn't allow the Local System account to use Repoting Services? And is it possible to configure Reporting Services to allow it?   - Per
