Apply custom.master to "Site Settings" page?

I'm using a custom.master page, which is applied to almost all pages available to READ users.

However, I'd like to apply it to the Search, Site Settings, and View All Site Content pages.

I'm not sure where this would be applied.

Guidance much appreciated. Thanks!

Publishing site template saved using /_layouts/savetmpl.aspx

A trick we used in MOSS 2007 doesn't seem to work in SharePoint 2010 although it seemed to work for someone who asked the same question in this forum.  We know publishing site do not have the "Save as site template" as an option in the site settings so we used <site>/_layouts/savetmpl.aspx to save the site template.  Unfortunately, new site created using the saved template is throwing a 404 error.  And the site was actually created (can see in View All Site Content).  We need to be able to easily create sub-sites with the same look and feel and set of document libraries/lists.  Any advice?

Exception occured:_layouts/MyAssocForm.aspx does not exist.

HI while attaching workflow to document library, it gave the error message as Exception occured:_layouts/MyAssocForm.aspx does not exist. I check for aspx page in "layouts" location but no file is exist. I created Infopath forms and attached to workflow, Here is my workflow.xml class <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/"> <Workflow Name="FormBase" Description="This workflow ..." error.aspx page reports that Page.MasterPageFile = ~/masterurl/default.master not ~/_layouts/simple.

This one is driving me nuts.

I'm intercepting Pages using HTTPModules so that I can change the Master Page before the page loads. This works as expected on everything except error.aspx in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS folder. Despite the fact that error.aspx specifies MasterPageFile="~/_layouts/simple.master" I keep getting Page.MasterPageFile = ~/masterurl/default.master instead!

Anybody know why this is the case?

/_Layouts/ChangeSiteMasterPage.aspx is crashing....

I have been having am issue creating team sites and I believe I have traced back te error to the master page.

When I try accessing the master page I get an "Unexpected error" with the message "one or more field types not installed properly" in the logs.  Does anyone have any thoughts on what to try next?

Cannot access pages using /_layouts//.aspx

I have a development server on which we have implemented a number of application pages. We can access these using the url format:

Cannot access pages using http:/<site>/_layouts/<folder>/<page>.aspx

This also works for subsites:

Cannot access pages using http:/<site>/<subsite>/_layouts/<folder>/<page>.aspx

Now I am trying to implement these pages on our production server and I am getting file does not exist errors. Any thoughts on why this might be?

Custom masterpage styling does not apply to forms, settings, etc.

I have created a custom master page and changed the default left-navigation so that the first level is shown and the second level is pop-out (plus a few other small changes).

The color changes apply to all pages.  However, the navigation changes do not apply to the list forms (new, view, edit) when viewed outside of the pop-out, nor do they apply to site settings pages.  Why wound't the masterpage work for all?  Is there another page to modify?

Convert English to Arabic number without changing any regional settings in .net

Well, most applications that I worked with was multilingual that supports English UI and Arabic UI.

And one of the major issue that we have faced is displaying Arabic numbers without the need of changing the regional settings of the PC.

So the code below will help you to display Arabic number without changing any regional settings.

Code works on aspx but not ascx

Not sure which category to put this question in, so I will put it in here.

Just to give you an idea of the layout of my solution, I have the main project, along with 2 class libraries, BLL and DAL.  (Business Logic Layer and Data Access Layer)

The BLL refers to the DAL and the main project refers to the BLL.

I had a test website and the code worked fine, but the same code will not work on the real project. The only difference is that in the test project, the code was on an aspx code behind, whereas in the real project, it is an ascx code behind (Web User Control )

The code is:

Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString
        Dim recordEntry As New UserRecord(connectionString)
        recordEntry.UserName = "TestName"
        recordEntry.BMI = bMI
        recordEntry.BMR = bMR
        recordEntry.FTM = fTM
        recordEntry.TDEE = tDEE
        recordEntry.TodayDate = dateForToday

Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString

Create an API (aspx vs mvc)

Hi everybody!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so, sorry if it's not. I have to create a web application. I can handle that. But, it has a requirement I've never done before. I need to create an API for that application, so other apps can get or set information from/to my webapp.

I've been searching a lot and still don't have a starting point. Seems that MVC is really good to do that, but I'm not familiar with MVC, so I would need a starting point. I was thinking to do it in aspx (Framework 4), but do not know how to do that with aspx either.

Can anyone help me to get started with this?

Thanks in advance

Launch CMD File From ASPX Page

My organization uses a CMD file to install updated files for a major enterprise application. Currently, we send out an email to users with a link to the file and instructions to run it, BUT inevitably users don't update their machines until their in field and try to start the app.

We're now liking the idea of using an ASPX page to prompt the users to run the updates and to capture the fact that the updates have been run. I realize that we can't capture the success or failure of the update. But we'd like to capture the user accessed the page.

Is it possible to embed into the markup for the page a link to the file on the local intranet that the users can click on to run the file?

The user accessing the page would capture that they did just that. We'd deal with wether or not the update was actually installed or if it failed later with them directly.

Custom views on .aspx webpage

Hi again, i have a client that needs me to create a custom view on thier webpage similar to Microsoft Word.

It goes about that, when I click on an image it redirects me to another page and must create a custom view for a certain paragraph on that page. I am not sure how to do this and wonder if anyone knows how.

I am using C# programming language if that helps at all. I Heard that using javascript would work but i dont know javascript yet so is there any alternative?

validateRequest appears to be kicking in in MVC RC1 despite settings

After upgrading a project to the RC a System.Web.HttpRequestValidationException is thrown when posting a value containing HTML from a TextArea. I have checked that validateRequest=false in Views/web.config, and have set this in the application's root web.config. I have also created a fresh MVC project, created a simple view & controller and posted a simple html paragraph element with the same result. Call stack provided.
