I have a browser form with a multi line text box. The height is set to be AUTO. Within the client all is fine. When opened as an administrator approved form the text box automatically adds a new line for every 20 characters you type.
So if you type 40 characters without pressing enter you get 2 blank lines appear under you text that you CANNOT remove.
I have tested this on a new form with various multi line text boxes. The width setting is unimportant, the spell check setting is unimportant.
If i fix the height then the issue goes away but this is not any good.
I cannot use rich text boxes as i have around 40 text boxes on the form and if they are rich text they take around 10 minutes to load in the browser (this is another issue i have)
Thanks in advance
I recently exported/imported an SP2010 site collection from Dev to Prod. The site collection had about 90 sites, which were all driven from a site template. Once the export/import had taken place, I created an additional 15 sites (in Prod), using the original
site template that was created in the Dev environment. Everything seemed to be working just fine, but I found an issue with the Picture Library Slideshow Web Parts (PLSWP) on all the sites that were created in Prod. Basically, I have a Picture Library, and
any pictures added to this library show up in the PLSWP. The original 80 site's PLSWP works fine, but the new 15 sites will not show the pictures through the PLSWP (the viewer just shows up blank). Here is the difference in the html output of the picture viewer:
PLSWP from Dev:

I hope i use the correct terms since I have a DUTCH :-( Sharepoint version.
I created a new Site Content Type, called activity.
I added a new column (Add from new site column)
The type of this column is: Multiple lines of text.
(I choose this because single line of text can contain up to 255 chars)
In Microsoft Office Sharepoint Designer (MOSD)ÃÂ I created a new pagelayout (File => new => Sharepoint Content => pagelayout)
and inserted the field activity to the .aspx page.
<SharePointWebControls:NoteField FieldName="Comments" runat="server"></SharePointWebControls:NoteField>
Why is the fieldname Comments I expected Activity?
I then created a new page (in MOSS) based on the created pagelayout.
Works like a charm.
Problem: I cannot add more than 255 chars to the field activity although it is a multiline type.
Hello all again!
I am working on another project that I have come up empty handed and wondered if anyone out there has any other answers. I just got my incomming email to work in WSS 3.0.
Now I was wondering if there was a way to get the body of an incoming email message to be copied to a "Notes" Field in a list item on a site?
Here is what I have. I have created a document library called email-in. I am going to use this to bounce the emails off of. I will configure this to recieve email. However, once an email message is sent to it I would like to take
the body of the email message and copy it to a multi-line text field I have in another corresponding list.
The way I was going to be correlating the two is by the "case" number that we deal with i.e. 00123456. This matches a hyperlink description field that I have on the list item that I want to append the body of the email to.
Therefore, I would like to have system operate like this:
Person creates and email with the subject field contents of 00123456. Then the message is placed in the body of the email. After this the email will be received by the system and the system will look at the subject and se
Due to a bug found in using multi line text boxes that auto expand (after every 20th characters a line return is added) i have switch the control to be a calculated column. The value of the field is being looked up from a sharepoint list when the form is
loaded (so need need to edit).
The issue i have is that the data i am loading has line breaks and the calculated control ignores them. Is this meant to happen or is there a way i can get the control to render multi line. The height of my control is already set to be automatic.
Just wondering if anyone else has found the following and perhaps a resolution. (Blog post with image examples here:

I've been given the task of making the 'description' field of a url column for a list on one of our sharepoint sites, mandatory.
The problem is that the field is already set as mandatory in the list template (deployed as a feature), although this only makes the web address / url portion of the 'new item' page a mandatory input. The box below this ('Type the description') remains a non
Is it possible to make this field mandatory as well? I would have to do this at a feature (schema.xml) level if so.
I have a web form that has a few multi-line text box controls which the user will enter lots of information in paragraphs. How can I persist their line breaks and tabs into SQL 2005 so that when the information is retrieved on a different page; the line breaks and formatting is preserved?
When a user clicks on Edit Item for a previously populated and saved List item in SharePoint Services 3.0, the "edit item page" appears but the rich-text multi-line field is blank ... until it is right clicked on in the white space
of the multi-line field, then the content that had been previously saved appears.
Should the user fail to right-click in the white space of the multi-line field before saving the List item again, the content previously saved will be saved over as blank. Only recoverable by version control (if enabled for that List). Not tested on

Internet Explorer v8
Windows XP SP3

Append Changes to Existing Text = NO (default)
Specify the type of text to allow = Rich Text
I was able to reproduce the issue on different desktops with different List items on different Sites for both MOSS 2007 and WSS 3.0. Clearing the browser cache doesnt resolve it. I've proven it to
