Problems passing parameters to SSRS report from ASP.Net web page

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I have a web page that displays some data.   When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start year/month and end year/month values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Here is what my url looks like when the report is displayed: http://xyzserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fDevicesAllNew&rs:Command=Render&StartYYMM=201007&EndYYMM=201008 But my report displays the 2 textboxes for my StartYYMM and EndYYMM parameters as empty.  What am I doing wrong?  I did a google search and I saw something about using ReportServer instead of ReportManager.  I notice at the top of the browser when I run my report, it reads "Report Manager - Windows Internet Explorer".  Is this correct? Passing parameters from ASP.Net web page to SSRS report

I have a web page that displays some data.  The user first selects a date range on the web page and then can edit some data.  When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start date and end date values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Is this possible?  Can I use the value of a session variable in the report? Passing parameters between 2 SSRS reports deployed in report manager

I have created 2 reports in SSRS. In my 1st report there is a tablix, which contains many rows. The text in these rows act like hyperlink and upon click navigate to my 2nd report. This functionality is working fine in Visual Studio and also in report manager. But as soon as I deploy my reports in SharePoint site (using a page viewer web part), this functionality breaks. I can see when I take my mouse near the text in the Tablix it shows a URL like http://IP Address/Reportserver/

It's evident that the URL here is not forming correctly. Can anyone help me out in this issue. In my report for navigation purpose I had used Action -> Goto Report (report 2) and passing the parameters there.

Thanks in advance,

I have a webpage from which Im passing parameters to a SSRS report.

While passing mutiple values from a multi valued parameters, the URL is exceeding the value of 2038 and hence the report is not showing up. Any suggestions on this matter would be really helpful.

eg: MacCode is a parameter and is multivalued attribute. Im choosing from the webpage drop down the values 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 for this MacCode. When it is passing to the ReportServer URL , it may exceed 2038 character limitation of URL.

Howto handle this... Please help

Passing report parameters by report viewer

I have 4 parameters in which 3 are passed in report and 1 is passed through report viewer. I have made a parameter in SSRS called CandidateId to which I want to pass the value. The code for report viewer is:

 intReportID = Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString["ReportID"
 CandId = Convert.ToString(Session["CandidateId"
lblReportName.Text = dtReport.Rows[0]["ReportName"
SSRSReportViewer.ShowCredentialPrompts =false

 SSRSReportViewer.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = new
SSRSReportViewer.ProcessingMode = Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.

 SSRSReportViewer.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new

SSRSReportViewer.ServerReport.ReportPath = dtReport.Rows[0]

 Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportParameter[] theparams = new

theparams[0] = new
, CandId);
theparams[0].Visible = false

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Preview Crystal Report from ASP.net without passing parameters

Hi Everyone,

Sorry couldn't think of any better Subject..

I am developing a User Reports Module using C#.Net using Visual Studio 2005. Basic purpose of this module is to allow user to be able to run their own Crystal Reports. i.e. if Users have their own Crystal Reports specific to their needs then we allow them to save them and view them from our user reports module.

So when user saves any report we save it on server and save the Physical path of that report in database. Now when user tries to view the report I get the location from database and load it. Which works ok. The issue now is those reports which have got parameters.

I am not saving any information about parameters in their reports. So I do not have any information about Report Parameters.

This same application exists in VB6. What that VB application does is opens the Crystal Report and then Crystal report asks for needed parameters exactly as it will do if we try to open a crystal report using crystal report and preview it from there it asks for parameter values.

How can I do that in C#.Net.

VB has got code like this

Help Passing Multiple Parameters Via a URL in SSRS 2008

Hello Everyone, I'm totally and completely confused as to how to pass multiple paramters through a URL.  Book Online is absolutely no help because they do not offer any examples of passing multiple paramters within a URL.  Instead, I get confused over RENDER and COMMAND and what should be repeated where with each paramter and on and on and on. Here's my URL: javascript:void(window.open('http://sereporting01.wdig.com/ReportServer?%2fDOL%2fTEST%2fDisney+Sell-Through&rs:Command=Render&SiteName=Disney,InsertionType=300 x 250,Context=ROS','_blank','resizable=yes,toolbar=0,menubar=0')) What happens is that JavaScript opens a new window but I get a "Reporting Services Error".  I'm assuming it's because my URL parameters are not correct.  Can someone please just give me the correct syntax so that I can get on with my work? I'm editing this post to add - I'm also confused as to how paramters are supposed to be passed through to a report when default paramters are set up in the report which i'm trying to open with the URL.  Should I remove the default paramaters from the report or...what? Again, BOL offers no help on this issue and it just seems to generate more questions.  Thanks!!

Passing XML into a SSRS report from c#

I have a SSRS report that queries an XML file. I'm calling this report from c# and redering it as a PDF. The only way I can do this is to save the XMl into a path that is already defined in the report. My question is, can I send the XML into the report so that the report uses the parameterised report as the datsource?

I need help with the syntax for passing a record field value from SSRS to an asp page

How to export SSRS report to PDF from SSIS with parameters

Hello everyone.  I am trying to setup a process in which a user, who is using a vb.net 2008 application, will need to  trigger the creation of two items.  The first is  SSRS report which will need to be exported to PDF format to a shared folder on the network.  This report accepts one parameter.  The second thing that will need to be created at the same time is an excel file with data exported from SQL Server 2008 which is generated through an SSIS package.  A couple things to note.  The excel file and the pdf file need to have the same file name, other than the extension.  For example P00000001_20100831.pdf and P00000001_20100831.xlsx and will both be stored in the same network share.  The filenames need to be created dynamically at run time and will be based on a parameter being passed to the report. So far I have the portion that creates the excel file working fine.  The way I create that is as follows.  I have a stored procedure that creates a job which calls the SSIS package and passes the appropriate parameters to the SSIS package.  After the job is created I immediately run it and then delete the job.  Ok, everything works fine with that. Now I cant seem to figure out how to get the pdf created.  If possible I would like to keep this portion together with the already created job or package.&nb

SSRS Report - Page break after the Header when export to PDF

I am using SSRS 2005 version. I am printing multiple invoices, taking multiple invoice numbers as a parameter and printing invoices.

I have grouped the report based on Invoice  number, so that the invoices are printed sequentially and there will be page break after each invoice. Within each invoice there is a header, body and footer.

My issue is after the header is printed, an automatic page break happens after the header, and the body moves to the next page. Therefore there is a large gap between the report header and the body. The report layout is landscape.

I wish any one can solve this issue and grateful if they can give the solution for my problem.

Blank page while exporting the SSRS report to PDF format

While exporting SSRS report to PDF, I am getting blank page in between and at the end also. The report page size is set to 8.75in x 15.00in with 0.02in margin from left, right, bottom and top. I tried in changing the tablix and rectangle box "KeepTogether" property also. In both the case (true/false), I am getting blank pages. Can anyone help me out?

SSRS Report printing blank first page

I have a pretty basic SSRS report that has a table header, body (with a table), and table footer.  When I view the report in normal layout,all is well.  However, when I switch to print layout only the table header and table footer are displayed on the first page.  I don't see any of my table data until page two.  So, this is adding an additional page to the beginning of the report and it's make a 17 page report 18 pages.  And because I am including the page numbers on the report, this is noticeable to the users of the report obviously.  Any feedback on things I could do or check to remove this blank page would be greatly appreciated.

Exporting one particular page from SSRS report

I have developed a report using 2 sub-reports. The report data spans across many pages.
User wants to export one of the sub-report in TIFF format.

Is this possible? Can I export one particular page using export option? Here I don't know the exact page number as well because sub-report may get displayed on any page 2,3.4 etc.

Font/letter spacing issue when printing from SSRS 2008 report page

We are developing reports in SSRS 2008.  When printing from the SSRS report page, we are seeing that that some text is "clumping" together or spaced oddly. I have tried a variety of printers so it's not printer-specific. If you export from the SSRS page to PDF or to Word and then print, everything prints as expected.

Nothing is as good as real text/names/data, but to reproduce, simply create several text boxes with...

I used several common fonts...
Arial, 10 pt (SSRS 2008 default)
Times New Roman, 12 pt (Office 2003 default)
Calibri, 11 pt (Office 2007 default)
Verdana, 11 pt
Tahoma, 11 pt

In the example above, I used normal weight, nothing fancy... If you use bold and underline, which is common for a page/column header or footer, this issue is even more apparent.

It feels similar to the following issue: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/482312/ssrs-report-font-rendering-issue

A workaround would obviously be to export to PDF and then print, but these are steps that our end users shouldn't have to (and won't want to) put up with to produce reports/invoices/etc. that ultimately go
