Metadata: Create a Database Schema Repository with Meta Data Services in SQL Server 2000

SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services is a repository technology that stores and manages metadata for SQL Server. Instead of building database schemas over and over, Meta Data Services allows you to freeze an entire schema for use in other projects. You can also use these schemas for training, testing, or debugging. In this article, the authors will review the various components of Meta Data Services and show how it can be programmed using a Visual Basic client, XML, and XSLT. They will also show you how to manage and manipulate your metadata by generating a simple database schema using a SQL Server repository.

How to setup the premission by using role and schema in MS SQL 2005

At MS SQL 2000, it has two groups of users - u1 & u2 which have the difference permissions to the tables & stored procedures.  It setups 2 roles - r1 & r2 to define two sets permissions and grants the permission (select, exec, ...) to these 2 roles - r1 & r2 in the defined Tables and Stored Procedures.  After upgrade from MS SQL 2000 to MS SQL 2005, it has the schema & role.  How to setup the role & schema to meet my requirement?

Best way to create a collection of User Control objects?

Hi, I'm completely new to WPF (this week) and still grasping C# and .net as a whole. I've created a User Control which I need to add (and be able to remove) multiple instances of into a vertical list. I've so far stuck this in a Listbox although I might change this later when I'm more comfortable. So when I add the object I've created as a ListBox item it displays fine, but my issue is I need to able to delete items and add items and have those items auto update etc - so I'm guessing the WPF way to do things is to build a collection and have it bind to the list box. My question is this, what is the best type of collection to hold such objects. I've tried an Observablecollection so that I can monitor changes but when I give it a.Itemsource = Observablecollection it just presents me with a list of <Collection>. Anyone any ideas?

PS2007/MSSQL2008: Cannot install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (sqlserver2

Hi folks, about 1,5 months ago I have set up a - 1 server - development environment for PS2007. I had installed all components on one Windows 2008 box. Everything worked fine, now I receive an error. •MOSS 2007 •SQL 2008 SP1 •MOPS 2007 SP2 I have done the additional installation for the cube building part according to this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285466(office.12).aspx Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (sqlncli.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (sqlserver2005_xmo.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backwards Compatibility Components (SQLServer2005_BC.msi) Everything worked fine. Cubes were able to be built.. everything was good. In order to have Reports built I added SSRS 2008 Reporting Services Addin for MOSS (rsSharePoint_x64) Business Intelligence Development Studio (=Visual Studio for MSSQL) No CUs have been added to this box. NOW, Cube creation fails with the error: ULS LOG: [CBS] ProjectServerOlapCubeGenerator status: Analysis Services session failed with the following error: Failed to connect to the Analysis Services server <IPADDRESS>. create procedure [User_Name].sp_myprocedure. Error since I use dbo schema

I am developing with VS2010. When I generate a store procedure (DATASET>RIGHT CLICK ADD>SELECT>NEW STORE PROCEDURE) for a data table of a dataset from VS2010, the enviroment generates this: IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sysobjects WHERE name = 'SelectQuery' AND user_name(uid) = 'DOMAIN\USER-LOGIN')  DROP PROCEDURE [DOMAIN\USER-LOGIN'].SelectQuery GO CREATE PROCEDURE [DOMAIN\USER-LOGIN'].SelectQuery AS  SET NOCOUNT ON; SELECT contract_id, product_id, contract_description FROM dbo.TContracts GO The creation of the procedure ends with erros since my schema is dbo. So far, I work around copying and pasting the store procedure changing the schema and starting again from the beginning: DATASET>RIGHT CLICK ADD>SELECT>FROM EXISTING STORE PROCEDURE. Is there any way to configure VS2100 to generate the scripts avoinding to prefix the supposed schema of my user. Many thanks.

Create DLL from C code using Visual Studio 2005

I have a commercial application (ZEMAX) that uses DLLs to describe problem geometry.  They provided source code in C for one of their DLLs.  I would like to modify that source code and generate a modified DLL.  Can I do that with Visual Studio 2005 (how?) or do I need a different IDE?
