How to save and restore column order in WPF?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
Hi, I am working on WPF 4 DataGrid, and I was just wondering if there is a way to save column order to xml at application shutdown and restore column order at application startup. I am thinking of to create a class with properties like header name, display index and visibility, but i don't know how to map this to datagrid columns.

Order by Nemeric column

Hi all,

Thank you for advance.

we need to get the document rank with the following orders

how can i do this?

SSIS Changing Column Order during Transformation

First let me say, I really can't believe this chain of events myself--and they are happening to me. I am upgrading several DTS packages to SSIS on what will be my new production server.  These packages create tables, export them to a flat file, and ftp them off to other locations. What is happening (on the SSIS side) is that the OLE DB Source is reordering some of the columns on its own (moving them to the end of the table/file.  Then when my pickup/load routines run, the data is out of place and they fail. Can anyone please explain what is happening here with the mapping.  I have evaluated the table and the columns are in the order that I expect.  When I preview the source table in the OLE DB Source Editor the columns are in the correct order/alignment, but when them in the OLE DB Source Editor --Columns section within BIDS the order is changed arbitrarily. I have been somewhat successful (2 out of 3) in being able to re-map the data, but this last table just doesn't want to change.  Thanks in advance for any help and/or information you can provide

attempting to restore to a new DB and it keeps trying to save the mdf file as the original mdf file

This is using SQL Server 2005. I've had several problems and this is where I've ended up. 1. Despite the claim that this will create a new DB it doesn't.  I was getting errors about the new DB not having the specified logical file name (despite the new DB not existing).  At the time I was specifying the logical file name as it appeared in the backup. 2. if I manually create the DB I still get the error as above unless I manually change the logical file name via sql management studio.  This is meant to be an automated solution so that is not accceptable. 3. I am now giving it the logical file name of the DB that I want to restore onto (if it doesn't exist I create it), but now it's trying to save the file with the old physical file name, which is absolutely *not* what I want. My instincts tell me I need to change the logical file name in the database I'm wanting to restore onto, but I don't know how to do this via SMO.  All of the explanations I've seen are through the SQL Management Studio and that is not acceptable as this needs to be an automated solution. I have copy/pasted the code from the msdn examples verbatim changing only the dbName and the .bak file location and it has consistently failed. Here is the code in it's current incarnation. var serverName = @"myServer"; var dbName = "MIQDesignTest3"; var backupFileN

What is the meaning of Ascending\descending sort order of a column within an index

When I add a new index I can also specify the "sort order" as ascending or descending. What does it mean? does it affect performance? does it mean that the binary search tree will be set in a certain way?

How do I change the order of column names in EditForm.aspx

I have an Announcements list to which I've added extra columns: Publish (date), De-Publish (date), and Category (choice).  When I go to EditForm.aspx, the columns display in this order: Title , Body, De-Publish , Category and Publish . I'd like to change the order of the columns on EditForm.aspx so that it is Title, Body, Category, Publish and De-Publish . Changing the All Items view doesn't do it. How might I change the order of columns that is shown to the user?

How do I INSERT when I don't know the column order

If I know the order that columns are in (FirstName, LastName, PetName), inserting into a table is easy: INSERT INTO MY_TABLE ("Charlie", "Brown", "Snoopy") But if I only know the column names and not their order, how do I insert?

Document Library version restore not behaving as expected on the "Name" column (file name)

After a rollback to a previous version, the value of the column "Name" in a document library is not restored. All other columns are restored properly. It seems that the column "Name" (file name) is excluded from the process of versioning.

I didn't find information on this behaviour on the internet. Any suggestions ?

Add column in a specific order

When I use the below command it would add an column at the end (i.e. the last column in the table), how can I add an column say after the 4th column?

Column Alias in ORDER BY Clause -- not supported in SQL Server 2005/2008 -- Causes enter migration

We are migrating from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008 R2 and our web application having thousands of SQL Statement with "Column Alias in ORDER BY Clause ".It is very difficulty to change all statements.

One of article says that SQL Server 2005/SQL Server 2008 not support "Column Alias in ORDER BY Clause and we have to replace with column name" because of this issue If we change Alias name to column name, we have do enter application/integrity testing. it is going to be big deal.

our client Decided to stop migration, Please some help is there any other alternative.

Default Column Values in a Document Library (SP2010) do not show up in word 2010 until you save and

when you create a document in a SP 2010 document library (of a particular content type, by clicking new, letter (content type name) in sharepoint for example) which has default values set on in in the library (set by using library settings -> change default column values), the default values do not show up until you create the document , save it and reopen it again.  Is this a bug or by design.  If it is by design, it is horrible since if some of the column default values are mandatory in the content type then you actually have to type them in before you could possibly save the file which defeats the whole point of having default column values.  Also it is tremendously clunky for a user to have to create file, save it , close it, and reopen it just to view the default metadata in the document information panel that is supposed to be there.

Anyone have any thoughts/solutions to this problem?

Outlook "Save as" in document library with all custom column

I want to put my Outlook 2007 email in my sharepoint document library (moss 2007).
To do that, I do "Save As" in Outlook. In "My Network Places" I put the url of my library.
Then, in some cases, my email is saved directly. And in other cases, outlook opens me the form to inform the different meta-data "web file properties" (
that's what I want) . it does not save the field values. It takes the default values of columns. Same required columns

However, in any case, the metadata are stored in sharepoint.

Do you use this method?
What configuration of my document library must have that outlook I am proposing to fill the metadata? (Docume

Is it possible to save "Collections" to a single varbinary(MAX) field/column in a SQL Server 2008 da

I was thinking about the fastest way to retrieve a "set" of objects related to a specific user. For instance, if I was to create a website similar to Flickr where people upload lots and lots of photos(jpegs) what would be the fastest way to be able to retrieve those photos from the SQL Server database. Scenario 1: You store metadata about each file they upload to the website as a single row in a database table. Then when you want to retrieve a specific users uploaded files you simply scan the database file for every row matching the UserID and store them in memory.

SELECT PictureId, UserId, PathToFile, Caption, (etc.)

FROM Photos

WHERE UserId=@UserId

This, of course, gets all the information about all the photos a single user has uploaded. My concern with this approach is when the user activity goes from a few thousand to being in excess of a million.

This approach seems fine for a small website but does this method work for a million plus user website like Flicker or MySpace? When you have a million users and millions more photos does this approach still perform at acceptable speeds?

My idea was to actually attempt to create a collection in memory of "ALL" the PictureIds' for a single user and store them in-memory, in a collection and then save this collection as a single VARBINARY(MAX) field in the SQL

DataTable and it's Gridview - A Column Order Question

Well, I've been developing with gridviews for quite some time now.  Just recently I came across a situation that has me stumped.  Here's how the gridview has been working for me.

1.      A stored procedure from the database is called (three parameters are passed (reporttype, name, location)

2.     The data is retrieved using the SqlDataAdapter to fill a Datatable

4.     Columns are created programmatically as it reads the DataTable results (headertext, datafield, and dataformatstring are set at runtime)

5.     The Gridview triggers the databind event - and voila it works.

My dilemma is this:  the stored procedure (that I haven't developed) returns a various set of columns and column order.  I have one report type that does the following:

ReportType 1:  column orders returned in the following order when running directly in SQL

            col B, col C, col D, col E, col A

when I run the report through my gridview, the column order is as follows:

WPF: how to make a GridView only sort on one column as ascending order?

We use GridView inside the Listview. We need the grid view alwasy sort on one column ascending order and not allow to click column header to change it.

Is there a easy way to achieve it in Xaml?

If not possible, how to achieve it in code behind?

Query with ORDER BY fails on unindexed column

I Got a table with about 10000 records. When I use the query (for testing) SELECT * FROM <table> there is no problem with it....
But the query SELECT * FROM <table> ORDER BY date DESC (and column date is an unindexed column) the query never finishes.

quering the database with ORDER BY on an indexed column, the resultset is there in a couple of seconds.

Can anyone give me some advise?

Understanding canvas save and restore

At first, I had a hard time grasping the purpose and use of the save() and restore() methods of the canvas' 2d context. It's really very simple and here are some examples that can help you understand it better.

Let's look at an official definition of save() and restore()
