TypeLoadException for DropShadowEffect on .net4.0 when .net3.5sp1 not installed

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
Hi, I've been starting to get a TypeLoadExceptions on some clients: Could not load type 'System.Windows.Media.Effects.DropShadowEffect' from assembly 'PresentationCore, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'. The problem is repeatable on systems where .NET4.0 is installed but .NET3.5sp1 isn't. Looking at the GAC on a system with only 3.0 and 4.0 installed, PresentationCore exists and is at version Am I missing something or is the DropShadowEffect missing from the 4.0 installation? Please help me solve this! Sincerely Andreas

.net3.5sp1 hotfix.

Hi everyone, I've a custom library written in .NET 40 that implements a WCF client to connect to a JAVA Web Service. For interoperability reasons I have to set to true the EnableUnsecuredResponse of a custom asymmetric binding element. Now, because my customer have Visual Studio 2008 and a lot of servers with .NET Framework 3.5SP1 installed, I try to 'downgrade' the project to that framework. The property above isn't present in that framework but, I read on some other posts, there is a fix from Microsoft that enable that feature on 3.5SP1. The fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971493) is there but I can't download it from everywere. After some searches, I find a downloadable hotfix rollup at Code Gallery but is only for Windows 7 and WindowsServer 2008 r2: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB981002 Something similar for Windows XP/ Windows Server 2003 ? Maybe someone can help me? Thanks in advance, Gianni Ghezzi.

why .net2.0 project or .net3.5 project can not reference .net4.0 assembly

if the machine support .net3.5, .net2.0 project can reference .net3.5 aseembly and can load and call the functions.

But why .net2.0 project or .net3.5 project can not reference .net4.0 assembly even the machine support .net4.0

I get this error 9 out of 10 times that I launch my application in the VS2010 debugger (using the development web server).  It only happens on pages with EntityDataSources in them.  Sometimes I can clean and rebuild and get the error to go away, but it isn't consistent.  Does anyone have any ideas?

.NET4, DataGrid doesn't apply EditingElementStyle with ValidatesOnExceptions when catching an excep

Hello everyone, I'm using WPF and the .NET 4 framework (4.3.30319), on the Windows 7 32-bit OS. I wanted to keep things simple with validation and my property setter just throws an ArgumentException when the data is not valid, instead of implementing a ValidationRule class. While this worked with a ListBox, it seems it doesn't with a DataGrid. Below is a simple example to reproduce the problem, check the XAML and C# code related to the 2nd column. The datagridTBStyle is meant to apply a specific style when an error occurs (since control templates are out of the question with DataGrid), but what I see is: it applies the correct style when editing the cell (blue text) it doesn't apply the part that is supposed to trigger on Validation.HasError (red on yellow background + tooltip) Without this style, it doesn't apply a red border around the cell as it should according to the documentation. However, it does put a part of red exclamation mark in the row header when an error occurs, and it catches the exception. Am I doing something wrong, or is this actually a bug? Link to the documentation. <Window x:Class="DataGridTest.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Test" Height="200" Width="350&q

.net4 TcpClient fails when NetworkStream.ReadTimeout is set

Hi, I have a problem implementing a Read() with timeout. I have a TcpClient obtained via listener: let listener = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Any, 6667) listener.Start() let client = listener.AcceptTcpClient() and I tried this code to have a Read with timeout: let stream = client.GetStream() stream.ReadTimeout <- 5000 try Some(stream.ReadByte()) with _ -> None which works fine. The problem is that, when the timeout happens, client.Connected becomes false !! And that's false because the socket is still alive and I'm still able to Write/Read data through the stream. Also, because client.Connected is false, I'm not able anymore to invoke the GetStream() method. I think this is a big bug, isn't it? Marco --------------------- Edit: I forgot to mention that it happens the same setting either  client.ReceiveTimeout  and/or  stream.ReadTimeout...

Hi,   i have Asus EeeTop PC ET1602 with integrated graphics Intel GMA 950 which supports DirectX 9. Despite the DirectX 9 is installed, WPF is running at tier 0. Regarding to the documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms742196.aspx) it should run at least at tier 1. Do you have any idea why it does not?   Thanks in advance.   Regards, Dejadine

Installed .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and 4.0 successfully but not detected

Good day, I am trying to install a SPSS Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) software v18 on my machine. During setup, the installation failed. An error message popped up "The Microsoft.Net Framework Version 3.5 SP1 or later was not found on your machine. This is required for the Amos installation to continue". Please install the Microsoft.NET Framework 1st. I googled and found the link on Microsoft's website, and installed 3.5 SP1 but the same error message appeared. I then tried with .NET Framework 4.0 and  still getting the same error message. I am a Windows XP User. What can I do now? Regards, Chris
