how do i develop a cascade drop down lists which get the chart names from excel sheets

hi i have to develop a cascade dropdownlist. one of the drop down is used to retrive only excel docs from a specific doc library and and the other drop down to get all the chart names and attach it to the second dropdown list in doc lib item changed event thanks

Duplicate column names from forms in SharePoint lists



I'm in the process of migrating from a WSS 2 site to WSS 3/MOSS. On the old site I used an Infopath 2003 form for absence requests. During the migration I now use Infopath 2007. There wasn't any problem initially when the form was stored with the SharePoint form library. However, when I published the form as a content type from Infopath 2007 and then added that content type to the form library, there are two columns for each piece of data from the form. (One from the content type and one from the form list.) I relinked each old form (list content type) to the new AbsenceRequest content type and removed the original one from the list. However, the duplicate column names are still there. Since they came from the Infopath form, they are not editable or deletable from the SharePoint list management interface. The duplicate column names make it tough to build views since it isn't apparent which column to use in the form building UI. It can be determined form the overview display, but it is very cumbersome.


Does anyone know a way to get rid of the old, absolute, columns?

I'm using VWD with a database back end. I have a list of teams which are marked off by league, level, division, teamid and then using gridview for the list of players per teams.

I've got the drop downs working correctly but running into a little snag and that is on the auto postback.

When I only have one option come up in a list, i obviously don't change that list and thus it doesn't change the next drop down because there is no post back. is there a way to use a "header" value?

Example of my data

League Level Division Team

NHL 1 West Vancouver
NHL 1 West Calgary
NHL 1 West Edmonton
NHL 1 Central Chicago

OHL 2 West London
OHL 2 West Guelph

NBA 1 Central Chicago
NBA 1 Central Detroit
NBA 1 Central Milwaukee

So my drop downs choose by league, then level then division and then team then shows the player roster for that selected team.

The problem I run into is when only one value exists based on the previous choices I've made. If I choose NHL then Central only Chicago shows up in the example above. Because I'm not choosing between it and another value, the drop down does not put in a post back and thus I don't get a list of the team and then the players

Cascade Drop Down List Problem


I have 4 "cascade drop down linked" each other. The first one is "AccesoryFor", the second "TypeOfAccesory", the third "MarkOfAccesory" and the fourth "ModelOfAccesory".

The problem is that sometimes is possible in the web page I'm programming that a "Session Variable" could have a value that must be selected in one of that ddls. But not only that, the "ddl" or the entire "row" where the ddl is located ,must disappear. The problem is that, when the page does the rendering process, the others "cascade drop down" don't find its "control parents", so they stay disable and without data.

So, what I do in the Load Method:

As the row where the first DLL is located dissapears, and error occurs saying that "Control-Parents" are not found. There's no way to "Disable" or make dissapear the ddl in the web-service because

WSS Lists - Lookup field information missing in Excel 2010

Hi, I've got this xls workbook which contains a two-way synchronized SharePoint list. This WSS list contains columns which are related to other lists: for instance the list we're using is a list of assignments, where an assignment is related to an accounting period. Our server also has another list with all accounting periods. Both lists are related since the assignment list as an accounting period column of lookup type which uses the accounting period list as a source. In previous versions of Excel, the output is that the accounting period field is a combobox populated with all availalble accounting periods. Thanks to that, the user can easily link an assignment to an accounting period by selecting a value in this combobox and synchronizing. This works great with Excel 2003 and 2007, however in 2010 (same workbook, consuming the same lists) related information doesn't appear. The combobox is empty and as a consequence the user gets a data validation error since the value in the cell isn't among available values. Is there something special I should do to enable this feature in Excel 2010? Regards, Carl 

Issues with updating Lists with Manager Names and User Profile Imports in SharePoint 2010 Server

I am having a curious problem with SharePoint 2010 Server. I have imported all the user profiles of our organization into SharePoint User Profile Service Application from our Active Directory. When the Manager name imports it comes in as domain/login. The organizational browser seems to work for MOST people, but not all. I believe this is contributing to my second problem, which is, I have setup a very simple workflow in SharePoint Designer that simply looks up the persons Manager, then places that information into a field called "Approval 1". After that it looks at Approval 1 and get the Manager name and populated "Approval 2" with that information, and so on. I have used an Impersonation Step as the Farm Administrator in the workflow and I have done it without the impersonation step. Both results in the same problem. When I enter my name into the list and run the workflow it runs beautifully give every manager up the chain to the top. However, if I put any other person's name in there it gives me the error "Workflow failed to get user profile for user: ____". I went to my supervisor's office and asked him to run the workflow. Using his login he had the exact same result--if my name was in there it worked great, otherwise, it gave an error. Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

help with drop down lists

Hello i have 4 ddl for factory, category, model and engine im tryin to make connection between them so i could select factory and then the other ddls will change the data that relative to the select item on factory. I know how to make connection between them but i need to use AppendDataBoundItems so the user could select "all models" or "All categories" without success!!! when i select factory the category get the models and when i select different factory the new model join the other factory models and so on and on. i was try with ajax cascading ddl but i didnt success cause the user need to have the change to select factory and engine (for example) but the engine is enabled = false until the user select 3th ddl PLEASE HELP

How to merge sheets from multiple excel files into one .xls file?


 I have several excel spreadsheet fils, each of them contains multiple work sheets that may storing images or data.

 How could I merge all of these work sheets to just one .xls file and keep their original layout and style using asp.net?

Excel Services / Web Access Line Chart Rendering

I have noticed in beta 2 that line charts are significantly pixelated / low res when the chart is rendered via Excel Services / Web Access, as compared to how the full Excel client renderes it.  Has this been fixed in the production release of Sharepoint 2010?  If not, are there any plans to improve this later? Our user community likes almost everything else but this about Excel Serivces. Unfortunately, the lack of presentation quality line charts in Excel Services maybe enough to disqualify our wide spread adoption of this great tool.  Help!

cascading drop down lists from single table


my one table consists of fields (id, flying from, flying to). thus i have one drop down for flying from and another drop down for flying to. i'm hoping to cascade them so 2nd drop down values are dependant on the values from 1st drop down. is it possible to do this using a single table? or must i use two tables and link the id's from both? and do i write anyting in the SelectedIndexChange event? thanks...
