Hide/remove ribbon on public website

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
The new ribbon in SP2010 looks nice from a editors point of view. All webparts seems controlled by the contextual ribbon.Using webparts on a public website, like a discussion board, can the webparts be operated without the ribbon? Eg. creating and editing forum posts and other basic operations. The public website is fully skinned and therefore only the editor should see the ribbon for page and webediting. How is this done in SP2010?

How to hide the list ribbon in XSLT List View Web Part?

Hi, In SharePoint 2010, I have a custom list "Clients" on a site. On the home page of the site, I have added a Clients List Web Part. When I access the home page in a browser and click anywhere in that list, it displays the "List Tool" ribbon group which has "Items" and "List" ribbons. I do NOT want these ribbons at all when clicking on the list. How do I achieve this? Should I disable the click event on the list so these ribbons do NOT appear? How do I disable the click event on the list? Or What should I do to hide these ribbons when clicking on the list? Basically I want it to behave same as content query web part. In content query web part, if you click anywhere in it, it doesn't show up any extra ribbons. I want the same behavior with list web part. Thanks, Hitesh

How can I remove/hide built-in Title field in list definition

Now I'm customize a new Content and then new List Template, just like below definition;  <ContentType ID="0x0100ed096ab35eeb4d2e98fb71b9842e9616" Name="Staff Member" Group="Berry Gardens Internet">  <FieldRefs>   <FieldRef ID="{fa564e0f-0c70-4ab9-b863-0177e6ddd247}" Name="Title" />   <FieldRef ID="{F5E777EA-C083-4c2f-BC10-E4BF2B4D6372}" Name="Synopsis" />   <FieldRef ID="{2307576C-A060-4c2d-BABC-34E5A9924667}" Name="Image" />   <FieldRef ID="{051B830A-8105-4384-9AA1-103CEE43B760}" Name="Email Address" />  </FieldRefs> </ContentType> It is inherit from Item parent type, and using built-in Title field({fa564e0f-0c70-4ab9-b863-0177e6ddd247}), but I found that it's diffcult to remove/hide it. When in the default list view, there are two Title fields. So what can I do in the list definition. Regards upzone

WPF Ribbon - Remove from QAT not working

I've managed to get everything working the way I want it with the Microsoft WPF ribbon, but one thing eludes me - I can't remove items from the QAT once they're added. Is this perhaps due to my templating?   I've set the following ItemTemplate for the QAT: <ribbon:RibbonQuickAccessToolBar.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ribbon:RibbonButton Label="{Binding Path=DataContext.Label}" SmallImageSource="{Binding Path=DataContext.SmallIconPath}" LargeImageSource="{Binding Path=DataContext.LargeIconPath}" ToolTip="{Binding Path=DataContext.ToolTip}" Margin="0,-3,0,0" Command="{Binding Path=DataContext.Command}" /> </DataTemplate> </ribbon:RibbonQuickAccessToolBar.ItemTemplate> I can't seem to get it to display properly without the binding to my DataContext's DataContext. What I am doing is binding the itemssource of my RibbonTab to a viewModel and applying the following templates: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type Commands:CommandViewModel}"> <ribbon:RibbonButton Label="{Binding Label}" SmallImageSource="{Binding SmallIconPath}" LargeImageSource="{Binding LargeIconPath}" ToolTip="{Binding ToolTip}"

Hide ribbon, Hide site content/recycle button. Caledar overlay. Document publishing. Other questions

I have a 2010 farm operational and working well. I had a few questions.

(1) How to disable ribbons from appearing on the top (for anonymous sites).

(2) When I move the mouse over a tab in the top bar, how do I display a banner. It was easy enough in 2007, but I am not sure in 2010.

(3) I have disabled quick launch. But it still displays all site content and recycle bin. Is there a way to not to show those.

(4) Calendar overlay - Is this to display multiple calendars in one calendar using different colors to differentiate them. But if I had calendars in different site collections, then I guess due to the gallery boundary, I cannot calendars from multiple site collections.

(5) Document publishing - For some reason, this was easier in SPS 2007. I am not able to get it to work in 2010. Basically update a web page dynamically from a word document. Could anyone kindly provide a link. Also, would I be able to update a page in one site collection from a document from another site collection.

(6) Is it possible to move a folder/doc from one document library to another in one site collection (without webdav). Further, can I move a document library from one site collection to another.

Please advise. Sorry if I asked too many questions in the same post. I am newbie and this is my first post.

Remove/Hide empty space of quick launch from web part page

I created a document library, whose type is "Web Part Pages". When I create a new web part page in this document library the quick launch is missing from the pages. There's a gap on the left side of the web part page for about 200px where the quick luanch would have been.

I don't necessarily want the quick launch to show up at this point. But I don't want the empty space in there either. I would prefer that the web part page covers the empty space on the left side. Can you please advise how to fix this? I had created a subsite before where I don't have this problem.

Let me know if it's not clear about what I mentioned above. Unfortunately I can't post an image here to show what I'm referring to.

Hide public view of list on left menu - no SD - Sharepoint 2003

Hi folks,

I'm working in a crippled sharepoint environment - basically our multinational company has given us a Sharepoint with a Teamsite template and no tools to get the best out of it.

I have created a site with a list containing 3 public views. 2 of these views are for the "the workers" to input and view data. The 3rd view has all items, and is for management information for a select number of users. These users do not use the view directly, it is picked up by an Excel spreadsheet.

The 3rd view in it's completeness is sensitive information, and we would like to remove the view from the views menu on the left hand side. I suspect that this may be possible using javascript code, in a CEWP. I am making this assumption because this article seems to be doing something similar:

I am not familiar with javascript or the objects referred to, although I have used javascript previously to amend column widths in a view.

Any suggestions?

Microsoft Ribbon for WPF - How to remove white gloss from Tab Panel

Using the Ribbon, I can set the background property to Black. This doesn't set the entire background to black, but only appears to set part of a gradient to black, leaving the top half of the tab's panel with a gradient fade to white. (or maybe it's a clear to white gradient overlaying the black background).

I'd provide an image but I can't find any tools allowing me to upload one. The XAML to reproduce is quite simple however, just start a new project with a the Ribbon for WPF (downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2bfc3187-74aa-4154-a670-76ef8bc2a0b4) and set the Ribbon's background to black:
