Sharing Documents among Document Sets

I've been looking at Document Sets and the examples given answer many of my questions on what Document Sets are, and what they can and can't contain.  One thing I am not sure of is can I share a document among multiple Document Sets?  If I am going to have a common document among my Document Sets, say in the Sales Presentation examples used to explain Document Sets I have one document that will always be the same, do I need to upload that document into each and every Document Set or can I share it?  What if I am going to have a common document among only a few Document Sets, and those may cross over Content Types, is this an upload for each Set or can I somehow link into the Document? Thanks!

Document Sets and Search

Hi Guys, I was exploring the Document Set feature, and i was wondering if i can combine the document set and sharepoint search to achieve a functionality. Here is what i need, we have set of documents grouped into a folder (say document set), and i want to use sharepoint search. But the condition is, in search i want to display the document set even when a document inside a document set matches the search text. Hope i am clear here, i was searching for this and i read a article http://httpcode.com/blogs/PermaLink,guid,989f6b75-265c-48b6-aed9-ef9326a3b382.aspx which describes exactly what i need. Will FAST search provide this kind of option.Satheesh

How to enable Word 2010 to save to one of the document libraries on a newly installed Sharepoint Ser

I have a newly installed Sharepoint Server 2010 (say, http://spserver/) somewhere on our LAN on Windows Server 2008 R2. And I am working with Word 2010 on my Windows 7 machine. I have created a Document library somewhere in a subsite of the Sharepoint server (say, http://spserver/subsite/doclibrary)

Now, working with Word 2010 I want to simply save the document that I'm working into that document library Doclibrary. I go to Word 2010 backstage... and can't find anything there.

1) Save As? It only shows my file system...

2) Save & Send? I see there Save to Sharepoint. But Browse for Location button gives me nothing. If I press Save As here, I just get my file system again.

What should I configure on Sharepoint server or in my machine, so that I can save to my doclibrary with as few clicks as possible, just like I always did with my local file system.

Infopath Web Forms & Relationship with Document Sets

Ok, so I have an Infopath web enabled form which is an allowed content type in a Document Set. When users create a Document Set they can choose to add a form to it. It seems that if I try to add the form as default content to the Document Set then the form tries to open in the Infopath application. Likewise, the URL from any workflow emails all link to the actual XML file and attempt to open that in the Infopath application. But anyway, that's not the main issue.

I want to be able to use the submission mechanism for the infopath form to submit back to the Document Set, but this isn't OOTB functionality; a consultancy suggests writing an Event Receiver to pass the Document Set details (doc id, name) to the Web Form at time of creation in order to reuse this in a connection string for submitting to the Document Set.

Related to this, and the crux of the question, is the relationship between Document Sets and their contents: are they even related (like how a task is related to the item that called it)?

Does anyone have any similar experience, or can comment on the proposed solution via Event Receivers?

Many Thanks for reading,

Kind Regards,

SharePoint 2010 Event Receiver verifying Content Types inside Document Sets

I have a document library and document set is added as one of the content types. The user goes inside the document set and inside the document set, I have 2 different content types. Now my scenario is that, one of the content types - which is referred as Main Report should not be used twice. I mean, within the document set, only one document of Main Report content type should exist. How can we do this?

How to enable document version conflict notification in MS Office collaboration scenario?

SharePoint 2007

At my customer we are using SharePoint to establish MS Office 2003 collaboration.

Now we are operating on an Excel file with several people. From time to time it happens that someone overwrites the previously checked-in version of another user because both opened the file for editing at the same time. This is rather unsatisfying...

Is it possible to enable a version conflict check here? I'd like to get a notification when someone has checked-in an intermediate version of the file I'm about to check-in.

Working with SharePoint document libraries

Document libraries are collections of files that you can share with team members on a Web based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. For example, you can create a library of common documents for a project, and team members can use their Web browsers to find the files, read them, and make comments. Users with Microsoft Office 2003 can check out and edit the files as if they resided on a local or network drive.

By default, your team Web site comes with a built-in document library named Shared Documents, which is listed on the Quick Launch bar as well as on the Documents and Lists page.

jQuery $(document).ready() and ASP.NET Ajax asynchronous postback

Many call it the ASP.NET jQuery postback problem, but using the technique below should make it no problem anymore. $(document).ready() isn't called after an asynchronous postback. What this means? You lose the functionality that should be executed within $(document).ready() after an UpdatePanel rendered its contents after an asynchronous postback.
