How to modify dropdown document template list order when creating document library?

when creating a new document library, the first template is the one for word 2003. Can we change that to word 2007 one? thanks,

Custom document library template at farm level.

Dear all..

I'm trying to create a custom document library template at farm level, as I want to template to be available in all the sites I create.

The thing is that I'm not sure if I'm taking the correct approach. I just need a standard document library with 3 additional columns (Metadata) 2 text fields and one date field. I will then add a document library of this type to a custom site template I've already created. (So instead of list with Type '101' I will use my custom 10055 library.

The way I'm trying to do this is:

1. I make a copy of the FEATURES\DocumentLibrary folder of my installation. So now I have FEATURES\CustomLibrary folder

2. I create an empty SharePoint project in Visual Studio 2010 and map the TEMPLATE folder, and the I add CustomLibrary folder and all the files and subfolders in it.

3. I edit the feature.xml, and add a newly generated GUID

4. I make the modifications I need to the other xml files included in the DocLib and SiteTemplates subfolders. (Type=10055, etc..)

5. I right click on the solution and deploy.

After this, I can't see my custom library when I try to create a new item in my sites.

One thing I don't understand is why the OOTB DocumentLibrary feature has HIDDEN = true in the feature.xml file. Anyway I've tried both in my custom template, but

Saving a Template Directly to a SharePoint Document Library

I have created several content types to create new documents in a document library, did all the plumbing and stuff and it works great. So a user selects new, then selects the contenty type and the associated template opens. User edits the document and when (s)he is happy presses save and then....the user is prompted with a dialog box pointing to "his local harddrive" instead of the document library!!

In MOSS2007 when a user did the above he could directly save it to the document library.

How can I let SharePoint 2010 save a template directly to a SharePoint Document Library?

I'm using:

Possible bug in SP2010 - Managed metadata column and STP document library template

Hello I have a problem with managed metadata on two different servers and would like to ask you to try it.

I assume you have managed metadata service running.

1, Open some document library in some site
2, Create column - managed metadata type and select some termset and set it as required.

3, Upload a document and fill in metadata when you will be asked.

4, Then edit properties and check, that metadata are there.

5, Save this library as template.

6, Deploy document library from this template and try steps 3+4.

My problem is, you can select metadata, but they are not saved. e.g. when you check document properties managed metadata are not there.

Can you confirm this behavior ?
Thank you very much.

P.S.: one more weird thing. If you do metadata filling using office 2010 compatible application. Metadata remain there, but they are not visible in document library properties.

trouble associating template in document library?

I am having trouble associating a template with a document library.  When I enter the URL for the template under the Advanced Settings for the library, I get an "Invalid URL" error message. I've compared my URL to other templates on other sites and I think I'm doing it correctly.  The name of my document library is "Link Checks".  I put my template, BrokenLinksTemplate.doc in Links Check/Forms  so that my URL is formed: "/Link Checks/Forms/BrokenLinksTemplate.doc".

Can anyone advise me what I might be doing wrong?

Document Set not working from a Site/Library Template

Hi all,

found a strange bug ...

Created a site in SharePoint 2010, added the document set content type to a document library.  I then created some standard document sets within the document library to use in a site template.

However, when I created a new site from the site template the document sets appear as folders, with no document set info section when you go into them.  However when you do the drop down on the name in the library it shows "Document Set Version History".

It is as though the document sets were only half recreated.  I can create a new document set in the same library and that shows as it should.

Anyone else come across this?  Anyone have any tips or solutions? Incidentally the document sets are also not working when a new library is created from a library template.  They have the correct icon, but the link that has been automatically created does not work.

Oh, you can create new document sets within the newly created library (within site template or from a library template) and they work fine.  It is only document sets that are saved within the templates.

When looking at a document library from a template that included a document set the link to the document set itself has been recreated completely wrong.

This is the link on the original document set

External Data Fields in a Word Template saved as a content type in a document library with multiple

I have created a Word Template for a Document Library that has an External Data Column in it of Client Name which also adds Client Address1, Client Address2, Client City, Client State, & Client Zip.  Now this works fine for a Document library with that template as the Template.dotx file.

I want to be able to make a bunch of Templates and have them all as Content Types in one Library.  When I do this I cannot get the External Data Quick Parts to work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Custom document library list template issues with custom content type

Either I don't know what SharePoint is doing or I don't know what I'm doing (or both, which is more likely).

I'm attempting to create a Custom Document Library template with a custom content type association (Custom Document), all using a feature. When I create
a document library based on the installed template, the content type association is there. However, when I click on New Custom Document, the template.dotx does not reflect the Custom Document content type association. The Word document information panel does not show any Custom Document content type properties (like Title and Comments).

Here are the steps I've taken:

1. Create the feature.xml with element manifests of contentType.xml and CustomDocumentLibrary.xml
2. Create the contentType.xml (Custom Document) with an additional field reference for Comments
3. Create the CustomDocumentLibrary.xml for the list template
4. Create a Custom Document Library subfolder that contains the same files that are in the 12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\DocumentLibrary\doclib folder.
5. Edit the schema.xml to use the new content type and field reference
6. Deploy and activate the feature
7. Create a new "Custom Document Library"
8. Go to Custom Document Library Settings and verify the Custom Document content type is being used
9. Click on New Custom D

Passing Calculated Columns from Sharepoint into Word Document Library Template

Hi all...

Another noob question.  I have been able to figure out how to pass single line text, date, etc. data from a Sharepoint List into a Word Template, but I am still trying to figure out how to pass a calculated column.  Is there a workaround?

Document Template section is not available when creating a new Document or Form Library

When I attempt to create a new document or form library by clicking View All Site Content, then click Create, then select Document Library, the Document Template section at the bottom is not available - it doesn't even show on the page.

How do I get that section to show up?

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

RPC and C++: Build a Template Library for Distributed Objects Containing Multiple Interfaces

Building a C++ template library for developing distributed object-oriented applications using Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) allows the programmer to design RPC applications that are composed of components that implement multiple interfaces. This article demonstrates the use of techniques such as assembly-level thunks to build machine code on the fly, and C++ features such as templates, conversion operators, virtual destructors and virtual function tables. Along the way, familiar C++ interfaces and classes are transformed into a distributed application. The benefits of using distributed objects rather than raw remote procedures, which include writing fewer lines of code, is explained.

Unable to open pdf from document library MOSS 2007

When I click on a pdf document uploaded in a document library it comes up with a blank page.

I guess it's trying to open pdf on the browser. I turned off "Display PDF in browser " option in Adobe Preferences, but it doesn't help, same issue.

I tried other browsers too, it's the same issue.

I am able to open all other pdf files local to my machine fine.

I am using IE 8 on my machine (Windows 7) and the Sharepoint server is MOSS 2007.

Can I open the "new" menu in a SharePoint Document Library using Dragon NaturallySpeaking?

When a user, who uses Dragon NaturallySpeaking, says "new" when viewing a Document Library the default content type is selected and the associated application (e.g. Microsoft Word) is launched. This scenario is okay for Content Type selection since the Microsoft Office applications will prompt for the metadata once the file is saved.

If the user needs to create new folders in the Document Library however they need to expand the "new" dropdown menu.

What is the best way for someone using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to expand the "new" menu for a Document Library in SharePoint?
