SharePoint Search returns wrong date

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi i am running a Sharepoint 2010 enterprise search indexing a file folder structure with emails(.eml) and attachments(.doc(x), pdf, xls(x), ...). The search results shows a date like first full index time or something like that, but not the date of file creation or any other attributes of the file. My questions: - what may be the reason of the wrong date? - is there a possibility use another attribute for displaying that is more relevante? Please help Kind regards Werner Durrer

SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express returns no search results for non-admin users

This is going to sound crazy, but anyway... bare with me... I have a SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express (RTM) installed with a crawl account (call it sharepoint_crawl) which has full read permission to an entire site collection of 100,000 documents. I have logged in with this account to make sure it has read access to everything, and it does. I run a full crawl of all documents and allow it to finish. If I try and search the content for an extremely common term (i.e. 50,000+ hits) I get no results. However, if I log in with a site collection admin I do get search results. There are no indexing errors or query errors in either log files or event log. Everything looks like it is working correctly - just no results for non-admins Anyone tripped on this? I have recreated the crawl account and perform a full re-index with the same results. What gets me is that the crawl account does have read permission to the content it is indexing, the content is indexed correctly, but the crawl account cannot get results back. It is as if security-trimming is removing everything. Any ideas?

Sharepoint date calculations = WRONG

Can someone show me how to create a calculated column that displays the date only? I'm using the microsoft absence planner. I am simply trying to display a date without the time. I'm getting inconsistent results. Someone suggested that I simply add a day but that is not consistent. I created a calcualted column to show me the day that Sharepoint thinks the time value has. The results are disappointing to say the least someone suggested this formula since it seems to be always off by a day: StartDate is a calculated column = =DATE(YEAR([Start Time]),MONTH([Start Time]),DAY([Start Time]+1)) *sometimes this formula displays the right info, sometimes not The last column is just = Day_[Start Time] so I can try and figure out what is going on :( Attendance item      System Account      Other      6/28/2010 12:00 AM      6/29/2010      28 Attendance item      System Account      Jury Duty      9/29/2009 12:00 AM      9/30/2009      29 Attendance item      System Account      Jury Duty      9/29/2009 12:00 AM      9/30/2009 &nbs

"Date&Time" column in list - set actual time and sharepoint's proposes wrong hour (eg. 17:00 instea

I created new column in list - Date and time (Date and time format: Date&Time, Default value: Today's Date)

The problem is, when I create new item in list, the default time is always set as next full hour, eg. now it's 13:15 or 13:31 ora 13:57 and in aspx form it's all the time 14:00. Obviously, I can change that date with 5 minut precision (13:05, 13:10, 13:15 etc.), but it's kind of annoying.

DatePart(Week, @Date) Returns wrong weeknumber?

I notice the following results of query:
Declare @Date1 DateTime
	, @Date2 DateTime

Set @Date1 =	'1/1/2010'
Set @Date2 =	'1/4/2010'
Select @Date1 As	Jan_1_2010
	, DatePart(Week,	@Date1)	WeekJan_1_2010
	, @Date2 As	Jan_4_2010
	, DatePart(Week,	@Date2)	WeekJan_4_2010
	, @@DateFirst As	DateFirst

Jan_1_2010 WeekJan_1_2010 Jan_4_2010 WeekJan_4_2010 DateFirst
----------------------- -------------- ----------------------- -------------- ---------
2010-01-01 00:00:00.000 1 2010-01-04 00:00:00.000 2 7

(1 row(s) affected)

The weeknumber of 1/1/2010 should be 53 instead of 1
The weeknumber of 1/4/2010 should be 1 instead of 2
What can I do to obtain the correct result?
Thanks in advance, Jos

Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server 2003 was sold into a large number of organizations based solely on the strength of the search tool. Organizations hungered for a way to find the data they had generated.

I have been playing around with SharePoint 2010 Search this morning. I love the new UI. The search refinements panel is just begging to be messed with. In my case I wanted to add the file extension JPG as an Image Type refiner.

Ingest google Search Index into Sharepoint 2007

Hi Folks

I am wondering  if there is a way to ingest google search index into SharePoint index such that when people search via SharePoint they see the Google results too… incorporated/federated inline with the SP results (not as a separate "box" ).

We have Google search in our environment and also share-point search. Share-point search for sharepoint site but Google search is for all other environments. Now i am thinking if we ingest the Google search index into share-point then may be its great deal to provide user a platform to search everything on one place.

Sharepoint 2007 Search Not Working

I am pulling my hair out guys. I have tried everything i could find from this site and all other sites but have not been successful. No matter what i do I cannot get the search to work. We are using SharePoint 2007 and the search had been fine but our security team performed some patches and now I’m stuck with a dead search feature.

Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Things I have tried but did not resolve the problem:

1. Check all accounts and passwords

2. Run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard

3. Reboot server reset IIS

4. Try to rebuild the index but that also fails

5. Check the Content Access Account

Sharepoint 2007 Document Search and Highlight in Office 2007 and PDF

We will be implementing Document Search (DOC, DOCX, PDF, TIFF, PPT, PPTX, XLS, XLSX) for one of our customers. We were evaluating a few MOSS 2007 based solutions, and happened to visit your site.  What we intend to achieve are the following functionalities:

a.       User should be able to search through 1000s of documents which are in a Sharepoint Document Library

b.      The documents could be in English, International Languages.

c.       Each document is 70-100 pages, and therefore it is important that the Search Results show the relevant pages on which the Search Text appears (Get Highlighted) within each document . Clicking on the link will take the user to the right page.

d.      The additional requirement is Synonym search. So, I can search for

Office Sharepoint Server Search not working but Windows Server Search is.

I am having an annoying Issue with the Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise search functionality. I cannot get the Search Centre to work, the out of the box webparts crash the page except the Searchbox when the others are closed. The event viewer shows up numerous Errors (Office Sharepoint Server - EventID 7080) returns with and the same when trying to add a search related web part (e.g. core.results, federated etc). EventID 6398 - Timer is a regular as is 7080. Details below.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).

Remote connections are connected, I am not 100% on the Instance name, (how would I go about checking this?)

Also I cannot access the link to SharedServices1 - Open Shared Services Admin site (not clickable), guess it's permissions but I seem to have full site permissions, I think I need SSP-Admin to make more edits to the Search, maybe this is related :s

Both Search Servers are runnig, I have tried everything I can think of to fix this and allow the Search Centre to work.

I am running Sharepoint 2007 on SQL Server 2008.
