Version Access in Foundation

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have Office pro plus 2010 and Foundations 2010.  I have a request to create an Access table that can sync to a SP list and have the Access table be versioned.  I have been successful with the sync but not the versioning.  The file does create a version every time but the old versions have the same data as the most current version.  Is this because I have the sync set up?  Is there any way of capturing the changes from version to version? Thank you for any help in this matter.

Programmatic access to Assembly Version in Product Properties?

Using VS2008 and would like to get programmatic access to the Assembly Version property in my Project Properties but I can't seem to find a way to do this. Any suggestions? The project is a .dll and I want to expose this version information to the caller in my interface section as a string.

Microsoft.NET version 3.0 Install Error: Installation failed for Windows Communication Foundation. M

Please help! I've been trying for the last day and a half to properly install Microsoft.NET version 3.5 so that I can install TurboTax and do my taxes. I was only on version 1.1. Multiple tries to upgrade to 3.5 was giving me a code 1603 error on install on "Microsoft.NET version 2.0a". I followed advice from forums here and elsewhere to uninstall and reinstall my prior versions. I also used Windows Install Cleanup before reinstalling. I keep getting to the same result when I try to go from version 2.0 to version 3.5. In my last attempt, I went all the way back to version 1.0 and installed each step up to 2.0 SP1 with (allegedly) no problems. This last time I decided to upgrade to 3.0 instead of going right to 3.5. Now I get the following error message: [04/03/10,04:07:14] Windows Communication Foundation: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation. Access Denied creating a web application in SP Foundation 2010 installed on windows 7 with local acc

Hello,

I've installed SharePoint foundation over windows 7 with a local account using this guide: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112

When I try to create a new web application the ribbon button is disabled. Using the link located in /_admin/createsite.aspx I get an "Access Denied" error message.

I access the SP Administration with the same user used during installation. This user is local admin and member of SQL server roles "securityadmin" and "dbcreator".

Any idea about this error?

Thanks in advance

Sharepoint Designer and Foundation version mismatch error

The company I am employed by has been running SharePoint 2010 successfully for several months now. Recently when anyone attempts to edit our main site using SharePoint designer they are prevented from doing so an given the following error message: "Server Error: The version of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation running on the server is more recent than the version of SharePoint Designer you are using. You need a more recent version of SharePoint Designer". We are running the most recent version that we can find available for download from Microsoft. The server administrator has attempted to roll back the most recent patches / updates to SP Foundation, rebooted the site collection, tried a fresh install of Designer and other obvious common solutions to no avail.

This is a massive impediment to our continued development of this product. How do we resolve this problem?

Your backup is from a different version of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation -- Sharepoint 2010

I made a backup of SharePoint farm from 2010 and tried to restore on a dev server and kept getting this error.  I looked at the versions of SharePoint on both servers, and they were identical:  14.0.4763.1000

I'm posting this although it is not a question, but a statement that might help someone else.  It took a while to notice that there had been an upgrade on the original server that the new dev box did not yet have... not an SP, but more like a hotfix type upgrade.

In Central Admin, go to "Upgrade and Migration".  Click on "Check product and patch installation status".  Scroll down the page of results and see if there are any links to updates that have been installed on the original server that are not on the new server, or vice-versa.  I did find a link on my original server.  Clicking on it opened the update page, so I copied the URL, went to my dev server, opened that page and installed the update, and voila!

Report Builder 3.0 unable to access SharePoint Foundation 2010 Report Server

I am having a terrrible time getting this to work. I have configured the SharePoint site and the SQL Servers involved to use Kerberos. That has been confirmed working.

I then configured the SharePoint site's Reporting Services integration (trusted account), enabled anonymous access and enabled report builder. I can launch report builder without any issues at all. The problem comes when I try to save my report. When Report Builder is started Items->New-ReportBuilder Report it opens and display in the lower left hand corner "No current report server." When I close the Wizard dialog and click connect I enter http://server.fqdn.net and I receive the following error:

Connection failed:

Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL, 'http://servername.fqdn.net/'.

Make sure that the server is running, the URL is correct, and you have permission to use the server.

I have also tried http://servername.fqdn.net/reportsserver/. When I try that I receive a login prompt. When I enter my credentials it tries for a few seconds and then sends another login prompt. I installed the report server using default settings. The reporting services db is on the same server as sharepoint. The configuration and other databases are on a remote S

Access Service available for SharePoint Foundation 2010?

Dear all,

I was very excited about the new feature of Access 2010 to deploy an entire Access Application to SharePoint. We are a smaller company and have only SharePoint Foundation 2010 running, not SharePoint Server. Now I had to find out, that in SharePoint foundation the Access Service is not available. I know that single tables/lists still can be deployed from Access to SharePoint, but I was hoping that the Access Service somehow can be plugged in or setup also for SharePoint Foundation 2010.

So my question is if there is any way, to have the full Access Service Features available also in SharePoint Foundation 2010?

Thanks a lot and regards,

David

change default URL through Alternate Access Mappings in foundation 2010

I have created a webapplication called http://company on port 80 in foundation 2010. on top of it I have created a site collection. I am using same url http://company for accessing site collection.

Now my requirement is that, I need to change my site collection url http://company to http://mycompany

I don't have any idea what to do in DNS and IIS manager consoles.

I tried to edit 'default' zone to http://mycompany in Alternate Access Mappings in CA.  I saved it. But When I browse the url it is not occuring.

Let me know what to do after editing and saving default zone address in AAP in CA to get my new addresss accessible.

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

Getting Started with Windows Communication Foundation

Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) provides a unified framework for rapidly building service-oriented applications that makes it easy to build and consume secure, reliable, and transacted Web services. It unifies the capabilities in ASMX, WSE, Remoting, COM+, and MSMQ; therefore developers need to learn only one programming model.

ASP.NET 4.0: WebForm Routing (quick n dirty version)

One of the things we're adding in ASP.NET 4.0 is built-in support for using Routing together with WebForms. Now, I'm totally aware that this is possible to do already and that a number of people have posted ways of doing this with the Web Routing feature which shipped with ASP.NET 3.5 SP1. We're just adding some features to make it easier to do
