Are connections possible with Visual Webparts?

I'm currently developing a few webparts which connect with each other through the use of the connections. This works perfectly when creating regular webparts, which derive from System.Web.Ui.WebControl.WebParts.WebPart. However, is it possible to use connections with visual web parts? These extend from the UserControl base class, and although I can compile and deploy a visual web part just fine, I cannot connect them. The page designer mentions that the web part does not allow authoring of connections. I've noticed that examples always use the WebPart base class.

Bing Maps Assemblies

I have just downloaded and installed the Bing Map Apps SDK. However there are 4 reference libraries:-

Microsoft.Maps.Core.dll
Microsoft.Maps.Extended.dll
Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.Types.dll
Microsoft.Maps.Plugins.dll

The problem I have is that all of the reference material I have seen refers to the Microsoft.Maps.Mapcontrol.dll assembly which isnt there. The *.Types assembly also doesn't appear to have the 'Map' class.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

How does one properly access AttributeExtensions from a Bing Maps Data Query Syndication Feed respon

Hi,

I'm able to get the basic SyndicationFeed response from a Bing Maps QueryByArea call via WCF 3.5, however, the valuable entry data with EntityID, Latitude, Longitude etc. are not accessible (not even if I have a break point and inspect the Atom Feed responsde directly).  I just see an empty XmlSyndicationContent entry.

What do I need to do to be able to expose and access the properties in the "content" entity:

<content type="application/xml"><m:properties><d:EntityID>-8174</d:EntityID><d:Latitude m:type="Edm.Double">40.849513</d:Latitude><d:Longitude m:type="Edm.Double">-74.292831</d:Longitude><d:__Distance m:type="Edm.Double">2.72010344668636</d:__Distance></m:properties></content>

Here's a full response from Bing Maps (thanks to Fiddler2):

ASP.NET 4 and Visual Studio 2010 Web Development Beta 2 Overview

Many exciting changes for ASP.NET are coming in the .NET Framework version 4. This document gives an overview of many of the new features that are included in the Beta 2 release of the .NET Framework 4 and of Visual Studio 2010.

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

This is a big deal. This isn't ".NET 3.6" - there are a lot of improvements of .NET 4, and it's not just "pile on a bunch of features so you get overwhelmed." I've been working with and talking to many of the teams involved and even though it's a cheesy thing to say, this is a really customer-focused release.

ASP 4 - Whirlwind Tour around .NET 4 (and Visual Studio 2010) Beta 1

There's a lot of stuff that's new and added in .NET 4, but not in that "overwhelming-I-need-to-relearn-everything" way. More in that, "oh, this is way easier/simpler now" way. Like, moving data around with ADO.NET DataServices is easy, binding with client templates is easy, there's F# if you need it, the "dynamic" keyword if you need it, Silverlight's already installed, oh, and the parallel stuff will freak you out, but in a good way.

Short Overview of SharePoint Features in Visual Studio 2010

As you probably know, Visual Studio 2010 was announced earlier this week and it contains a lot of cool features and project templates for SharePoint developers. Below is a short overview for some of the SharePoint development related features and project templates.
